I Can Fix You

I'm Remy Righley, I live in Newport Beach, CA and I'm 17. My best friend Alice Masters is only 15 but I don’t really care, I love her anyway and the first day we met I saved her from getting bullied so the rest was history. Now she lived about 10 minutes from me so I’d pick her up and drop her off every morning before and after school and her parents are like my second parents.

Mine are a little nuts but I deal with it. Let’s see, I drive, play drums and piano, I kinda sing but I'm not as good as Alice. Right now I was on my way to get her; it was Friday after school and tonight was the talent show that she convinced me to be in, I was also going to be spending the night with her afterward so I had a bag packed and in the back seat of my black Toyota Camry. By the way I was wearing black skinny jeans with some chains, a corset, black converses and my usual jewelry. I pulled up to her house and honked twice because there was a big black suburban in the driveway so I couldn’t pull in.

Alice came running out of the house in a black t-shirt, black pants and her black converses. She got in the car and smiled at me ‘who’s here?’ I asked as I pulled away and turned the music down ‘oh my cousin and his friends came to see the show tonight and their gonna stay the weekend to so you can finally meet them’ ‘oh ok the famous ones?’ ‘Yeah’ ‘Ok, do you know what time you go on?’ ‘Uh, I think 8:45? I know I'm in the middle somewhere and you're last’ she said and I nodded a little then drove the 15 minutes to school.

Alice and I just waited back stage and watched the other acts until it was time for us to go on. She was before me and sang Into The Ocean by Blue October perfectly which of course made me smile and cheer when she finished. She walked off the stage and hugged me then we finished watching the show until it was the end and my turn to go on. The piano was pulled out for me and I walked out after the music teacher called my name, just like he did with everyone else.

I adjusted the mic that was on the piano then put my hands and feet where they were supposed to be, I took a deep breath then closed my eyes as I began playing Fiction by Avenged Sevenfold. I had finished learning it a few months ago and that’s all I had been playing recently so why not play it now? Anyways, once I finished I actually got a standing ovation which made me smile, then get up and walk off the stage to see Alice with tears running down her face because her cousin knew Jimmy so she was friends with him to.

I wrapped her in a hug and shushed her while the judges were talking about everyone. When I pulled away I cupped her face and wiped her tears away ‘it’ll be ok, I promise’ I whispered and she nodded a little and took a deep breath, I smiled and kissed her forehead softly. She smiled up at me then rested her head on my chest as I kept my arms around her. ‘The judges have come to a decision’ I heard the music teacher say as he stood in the middle of the stage next to the table of trophies.

He called out fifth, fourth, and third place first, they all got little trophies ‘second place goes to Alice Masters!’ he called out and she just looked up at me wide eyed ‘go’ I smiled and she smiled back then went out on stage and got her medium sized trophy, waved to the crowd a little then came back stage ‘sweet trophy’ I smiled and she laughed a little ‘and first place goes to Remy Righley!’ he called and I just kinda stood there really surprised until Alice pushed me out onto the stage and I again got a standing ovation as he handed me my big ass trophy that I didn’t need or want

but I smiled and bowed anyway then went back stage and over to Alice ‘sweet trophy’ she said and I just playfully glared at her a bit ‘come on, let’s go’ I said and she nodded a little, we walked out to my car just talking about random things and we placed our things in my back seat then got in and drove back to her house. When we got there the suburban was still in the driveway so I just parked on the street,

Grabbed my bag out of the back as Alice grabbed her trophy and we walked in ‘mom we’re back!’ she called out as we took our shoes off and I set my bag by the steps ‘kitchen!’ she called back so we headed that way, her mom was in there and she had just finished making brownies ‘Look I got second place!’ ‘Oh my god! It’s beautiful!’ she screamed and hugged Alice, I laughed a little and just watched them ‘Remy got first place’ ‘no you didn’t!’ Mrs. Masters said and I just nodded a little and smiled, she screamed then hugged me,

I hugged back and laughed more as she pulled away ‘there’s pizza on the table, help yourselves’ she said and we nodded then grabbed plates ‘where’s Matt?’ ‘Oh he’s down in the basement playing pool with the guys, you know he loves that thing’ ‘he should just marry it’ Alice said causing me and her mom to laugh, we walked into the living room and had our pizza while we watched some tv for about an hour.

‘Girls deserts ready’ Mrs. Masters said as she walked into the living room, we nodded then came into the kitchen to see she had put the brownies in bowls then put vanilla ice cream on top ‘oooohhh yummy!’ we both said then looked at each other and laughed a little ‘pick yours, I have to get the boys’ she said and we nodded then picked our bowls and as we walked back into the living room her mom opened up the basement door

‘BOYS! DESERTS READY!’ she screamed then walked away quickly to avoid getting trampled as I heard them run up the steps. I took my place back on the couch and put my feet on the coffee table ‘TAKE YOUR FEET OFF MY TABLE REMY!’ Mrs. Masters yelled, I just looked over at Alice wide eyed and she just shrugged so I took my feet off the table and crossed my legs right over left and continued to have my desert. The guys stayed in the kitchen to eat which I thought was a little odd, but once we finished we stood up and I stretched a little

‘What do we have cooties or something’ I said as we walked into the kitchen, Alice laughed as I followed her ‘I'm sorry did you just laugh at me?’ I asked after we set our bowls in the sink, she shook her head and started to back up ‘I think you did’ ‘I didn’t I swear’ she said and I just smiled and ran after her as she ran away. I chased her for about two minutes until I finally caught her in the kitchen around the waist and began tickling her which made her squeal, laugh and beg for mercy and help but everyone else was too busy laughing at us

‘what's the magic word!’ ‘Remy’s the best person alive!’ she yelled and I smiled then stopped tickling her and let her go ‘I….hate….you’ she said as she smiled and took deep breaths to calm down ‘no you don’t’ ‘I know’ she pouted and I just smiled big a cheesy at her then helped her up and hugged her, she hugged back and smiled up at me, she’s only 4’9 and I'm 5 foot so it’s not much a look up but it’s enough

‘Are you going to introduce us or not Alice?’ I heard and I turned to see some people that I had no idea were related to her ‘you, their, them’ I stuttered and she just nodded ‘Matt’s my cousin’ Alice said, I just kinda nodded as I was still in shock ‘well, she knows you guys but this is Remy, my best friend and forgive her for drooling’ she said and I just blushed a little then turned to walk away ‘where are you going!?’ ‘I need a smoke!’ I called back and I heard her giggle as I walked out onto the front porch.

I leaned against the rail and lit up then just looked out across the neighborhood. I heard the door open and I looked back to see Zacky Vengeance, he smiled and I smiled back then went back to looking up at the stars ‘you have fire?’ he asked and I nodded and pulled my lighter out of my corset and handed it to him, he lit his smoke then handed it back ‘Never thought I’d be having a smoke with Zackary Vengeance’ I said softly and he chuckled a little which made me smile

‘I'm guessing you're a big fan?’ ‘Wouldn’t be alive if I wasn’t’ ‘why’s that?’ ‘It’s a long story for one drunk night but that’s not tonight’ I said and he nodded a little then leaned against the rail next to me ‘You play piano beautifully’ ‘you saw that huh?’ ‘Mhm’ ‘thanks and sorry’ ‘you're welcome and it’s ok’ ‘no it’s not’ I whispered as I looked over at him, he sighed a bit and looked down ‘but it will get better, I promise’ I whispered again and he looked over at me, I smiled then put my smoke out in the bucket of water in the corner of the porch,

he followed my lead then we both walked back inside and into the living room where we heard everyone else talking and laughing ‘Remy Remy!’ Alice said excitedly ‘yes my love?’ ‘Will you play me something?’ she asked cutely, I laughed a little and walked over to her piano. I flicked my invisible coat tails back, earning a laugh, and I sat on the bench. I cracked my knuckles and started playing Davey Jones Organ from POTC.

They all sat quietly and listened as I worked my magic on the piano, when I finished I stood up, turned to them and bowed a few times as they clapped and cheered making me laugh ‘alright, I've gotta get outta this damn thing’ I said as I motioned to my corset then headed over to my bag ‘need help?’ ‘Nah I got it, be right back’ I said then grabbed my bag and walked up to the hall bathroom. I shut the door then pulled out my PJ’s and took off my pants and corset.

I pulled on some shorts, a black tank top without a bra because I didn’t wear one when I slept and I pulled on a pull over sweater because I was a little cold. I put everything back in my bag then walked out, put my bag in Alice’s room then went back downstairs and into the living room ‘Good you're back, were gonna watch a movie, what do you wanna watch?’ Alice said as she scanned the Netflix on her PS3 ‘you know me, I'm easy, no romance though’ I said as I walked into the kitchen to grab some water,

I walked back out into the living room and saw that they settled on Rush Hour ‘sweet I love this movie!’ I said happily as I took my place on the couch next to Zack, he smiled a little and I smiled back then grabbed the blanket off the back of the couch ‘I get to cuddle Remy Zacky, you can't steal her’ Alice said when she finished turning off the overhead lights and just left on a lamp, he laughed a little and nodded ‘don’t worry baby there’s enough cuddles for both of you’ I said and she nodded then walked over to me.

I told Zack to scoot to the end of the couch and I leaned against him then Alice leaned against me and I fixed the blanket to cover all of us ‘ok, someone hit play’ I said and Brian nodded and hit play on the control. After the first movie Alice went to get changed into her PJ’s and us smokers went out on the porch, I was sitting on Johnny because he was the only one sitting and Alice joined us after a few minutes, she looked at me and pouted

‘What baby?’ I asked and she just pouted more so I motioned her over, she stood in front of me and I set my hands on her hips ‘what's wrong?’ ‘I wanna smoke’ she said cutely, I laughed a little and handed her the rest of mine ‘no telling your mother’ I said and she nodded happily then finished the rest of my smoke just as the guys were finishing.

We put them all out then went back inside and decided to watch Rush Hour 2, with of course, the same cuddle arrangement as before but this time Alice was asleep when the movie finished ‘I’ll take her up’ Matt said seeing as I couldn’t move until he picked her up so I just nodded and he took her up to her room where I’d join her later. I sighed a little and actually cuddled into Zack and he wrapped his arm around me tightly, once Matt came back down we all watched Rush Hour 3 then we finally went to bed.
