“So, I’m sorry about what Brian said.” Zach says, suddenly.

“No need to be sorry.” I sit, looking out the window, as he drives.

“Elody, I’m really sorry for what I said, too, if you heard all of that. I can be an ass, at times.”

“It’s nothing to worry about, really.”

“Well, I just wanted you to know that I’m sorry, anyway.” He says, as we pull into my parking lot.

“It’s okay, Zach.” I smile at him, as I get out of the car. “Thanks for the ride home.”

“Hey, if you ever need anything, I’m just a phone call away.” He smiles at me.

“Thanks, Zach. I really appreciate that.” I smile, in return. “I’ll see you later.”

“I hope so.” He winks.

“You would go there… You’re bad, Zachary.”

“But you like it.” He smirks.

“You really know how to charm a lady, don’t you?” I laugh. “Bye, Zach.” I shut the door, and walk to my door. I smile to myself, knowing that he’s probably watching me.

“What about The Houses October Built?” Juliet asks, as we sit on the couch, searching Netflix for a good horror film.

“Seen it. Terrible.” Ha. Just like my day was yesterday.

“Ooh! Ooh! We could watch Saw!”

“Haven’t you seen all of those movies?”

“Yeah, but I could totally watch them again.”

“No thank you.”

“You’re so picky. We might as well go rent a movie instead.We could get Poltergeist, they just came out with the remake last week.”

“Hmm. Okay, let’s go.” I say, getting up from the couch. I grab my keys, and open the door.

“Elody.” Brian is standing in the doorway. “I was just about to knock.”

“Oh. I’ll give you two some time.” Juliet says, seeing Brian. She walks down the hall, toward her room, leaving me alone with Brian.

“What do you want?” I look back to Brian.

“Elody, I’m sorry for what I said. I was wrong to say those things about you.”

“Okay. Well thanks for your apology.” I start to close the door, but he puts his foot in the way.

“Please forgive me. I’m really truly sorry. I’ll make it up to you, however you wish.”

“I don’t need any favors from you, Brian. If it’ll make you feel better, I forgive you. Now, will you please leave?”

“But you don’t mean that, you’re just saying it for me.”

“Yep. I think you should go now, Brian.”

“C’mon, El…”

“Do not call me that. What do you want me to say, Brian? You hurt me. You obviously think I’m a slut, who isn’t worthy of your time or trust.”

“That’s not true.”

“Is that not what you had said to your friends yesterday?” He just stands there, staring at me. “That’s what I thought.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Maybe you’re right, Brian. Maybe I am a slut. Maybe you can’t trust me. Maybe you’ll never get the chance to figure out the truth, or… Maybe I’ll just prove you right.” I shut the door in his face. I feel so empowered right now. I hope he’s torn up inside. I want to hurt him right now, like he hurt me. I know I shouldn’t, that it’s not right, but I can’t help it, right now I’m a woman with a vengeance. Speaking of vengeance… I pick up my phone, and search through my contacts, until I come across the name I’m looking for. Against my better judgment, I hit dial.

“Hey, Elody.” Zach answers on the first ring. “What’s up?”

“You wanna have some fun tonight?” I smile to myself, as I ask.

“I’m always up for a little bit of fun.”
