Two Vibrant Hearts

Chapter Seventy-Six

“Kid, are you ready to go?” Brian called from the door. I shot a look at him before returning to the mirror, putting the last touches of mascara on my eyelashes. Brian let out a scoff and I rolled my eyes before putting my makeup away. I turned to him and put my hands on my hips. “What?”
“Do I look hot?” I asked, opening my arms and spinning. Brian checked me out and I looked down at my outfit. I had on black cowboy boots and white shorts with a black tight t-shirt. It wasn’t anything fancy but it was the first time in a while that I’ve been out to a bar with one of the guys and I wanted to feel attractive.
“You are smoking as always.” Brian told me. I rolled my eyes at him and he grinned before ushering me over to him. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and kissed my forehead before guiding us down the stairs and out of his house. “I don’t get why you think you have to look hotter than usual just to go to a bar with me.”
“Hey, I’m going to a bar with Synyster Gates. I have to look hot or else you’ll be attack by chicks and get 50 STDS. Then I can’t kiss you.” I explained. Brian laughed loudly and pecked my lips before helping me into his car and going to his side. He slid in and started up the car, sending me a smile as he did so. “So why did you invite me to the bar anyway? I can’t handle alcohol as much as Jimmy.”
“Although that is true, it seems as though you’ve been AWOL for awhile so I wanted to take you out just to hang.” Brian replied. I smiled and nodded.
“Sounds nice.” I sighed. The ride was quiet as Brian took roads that I’ve never seen before. I furrowed my brows as we went into a part of town I didn’t even know existed and Brian chuckled.
“What are you doing?” Brian asked, grabbing my bottom lip as I began to pout.
“I have no clue where we are,” I grumbled. Brian snickered and looked around.
“Well, this is just the unimportant part of Huntington Beach, I guess,” Brian said, looking around in confusion too. I raised my eyebrows and he laughed. “Okay, so I have no clue where we are really. But there’s this great bar down here with a karaoke machine.”
“No way. You’re not expecting me to sing, right?” I asked incredulously. Brian grinned and I shook my head vigorously.
“Aw, come on, Kid. It’ll be fun!” Brian whined. I shook my head and he pouted. “Why won’t you sing with me?”
“Because I suck at singing.” I groaned. Brian dropped his mouth and scoffed.
“I do too! Why do you think I’m a guitarist?” He yelled. I rolled my eyes and gave him a look.
“You can still sing. I sound like a dying walrus.” I told him. He shot me a look and I nodded.
“Well then we can pick one of our songs and you can just speak all of the words.” Brian offered. I shook my head and he sniffled. “Fine. Be a butt.”
“You’re a grown ass man. Quit whining.” I snickered. He shot me a glare and stuck his tongue out at me. I giggled and looked out the window to see that we were pulling into a shady looking bar in a shady looking part of town. I gave Brian a wary look and he just grinned. He stopped the car and got out with me following him. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it before walking us into a wall of sweaty people.
~
I sat at the bar, completely bored out of my mind. Apparently, there really are fans of Avenged Sevenfold in Huntington and I had just never met any until we got to this bar. Either that or these were really desperate girls and attractive men never come here. I sincerely felt bad for Brian because a bunch of girls were all over him. In a sense I was pissed off that girls were throwing themselves at him because he was supposed to be here with me. I sighed and ordered another drink, watching from a distance as like five girls grinded on his leg and two pole-dancing in attempt to get his attention.
“That poor guy,” the bartender said. I laughed and held my shot glass up.
“Cheers to that, my friend.” I agreed as I chugged down the stinging drink. I let out a breath and shuttered a bit at the new kind of alcohol I hadn’t tried before.
“If you don’t mind me asking,” the bartender started, wiping down another glass as he leaned against the counter to get closer to me. “Are you two together?”
“Uh…” I didn’t know how to answer that. It was yes and no. I didn’t want people to think we were together but I didn’t want them to think we were just friends. Because if they thought we were just friends then I’d feel like girls would think they’re better than me. It sounds selfish but I also didn’t like people being on Brian and us ‘being together’ would give me a reason to get them off. It took me a second to realize that if we were together; why the fuck would I let skanks be on him? “I guess you could say we are.”
“And you’re okay with all those girls on him?” He asked curiously. I held up my shot glass and shook it a little, grinning.
“That, my good sir, is why I said ‘I guess’.” I replied. He gave me a confused look but took my glass, filling it up with three different types of drinks. “What I’m trying to say is we are… but we aren’t, you know? Like we aren’t dating per say but we don’t date anyone else.” I guess that was a lie, but at the same time it was kind of true. Brian hadn’t gone out and tried to get a chick since he agreed to this whole thing, and although I was ‘with’ Matt, I didn’t feel super comfortable with it since Brian didn’t know about it.
“I understand. It always sucks being in that position.” He empathized. I nodded and gulped down the shot, the taste not as shocking as before.
“I mean, I wouldn’t mind being with him, but there’s someone else I have my eye out for, you know?” I admitted. The bartender gave me a soft look and I sighed. “The guy I like… he has a girlfriend. A girlfriend that was an ex-girlfriend. A girlfriend he claims to hate. Yet he doesn’t break up with her. So my friend over there… He kinda…”
“He’s kind of your backup.” The bartender finished. I nodded and he gave me a sympathetic smile. “I understand. Had the same problem a few years ago.”
“Really?” I asked, intrigued. He nodded and I turned towards him. “What happened?”
“I ended up marrying my backup. Turns out she was there for me more than the girl I was going after was.” In a way, I dreaded hearing that come from his mouth. I glanced back at Brian, who was looking over at me with pleading eyes. I didn’t want to think that Matt would never come around, but the more I thought about it the more it sounded plausible. But even if Matt never came around, I’d feel like shit to just date and possibly marry his best friend. I’d never forgive myself for that.
“See, that makes sense.” I told the guy honestly. “But the problem is that they’re best friends.”
“Oh man.” He sighed. I nodded.
“I know. So I mean even if Brian over there is better for me… I’d feel like a horrible person if I jumped from his best friend to him.”
“That is a tough break,” The bartender exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. I nodded and he slid another drink over to me gently. “But at the end of the day, if you were to make Brian really happy, wouldn’t his friend be okay with it?”
“I never thought about it like that.” I mumbled. I truly never thought about that. I just had never pictured myself with Brian or even really talked about being with Brian before that I just needed an excuse if that thought ever crossed my mind. Now that thought had scared me. I looked at him and leaned against the bar. “You sir, are the most insightful bartender I have ever met.”
“Well I sure hope so, I majored in psychology.” He chuckled. I gaped at him.
“How did you end up here?” I questioned in shock. He laughed against and looked at me.
“Well, I have to pay for college somehow, don’t I?” He replied. I nodded in understanding and pulled out my wallet to pay for the drinks. He put his hand up and I gave him a confused look.
“It’s all on me, Hun.” He said sympathetically. I smiled and pulled out a fifty. I handed it to him and smirked.
“For food, then. I hear college kids don’t eat luxuries like actual food.” He laughed loudly and nodded before thanking me. I nodded and sucked down my last shot before standing up and looking around. I didn’t know what else to do, and if I tried to go get Brian I’d be booty-bumped away from him by the girls. I would know; it happened earlier. I scoped out the place before I found the perfect plan. I walked over to the DJ at the karaoke and grabbed the book.
“Do you have any Avenged Sevenfold by chance?” I asked as I flipped through the pages. The man smiled and brought up a list. I grinned and pointed to one, which I knew was perfect.
“That’s a good one, you going to do it alone?” The DJ asked. I shook my head and pointed to Brian. “Hey, is that…”
“Yupp. That’s why. Hey, can I also ask you to be a part and sing a small bit for us?” The DJ nodded and I whispered what part and he gave me thumbs up. I got on stage and stopped to look at the crowd. It was a bunch of drunken people, and even though I couldn’t see against the harsh light, I suddenly had stage fright. I could feel my legs shaking but I ignored it as I took a deep breath. I walked up to the microphone and cleared my throat a little before turning my attention to where Brian was. “Brian fucking Haner.” I called out. I saw him look over to me with wide eyes and I grinned. “Unless you’re in a little piece of heaven you better get your ass up here and sing with me.”
I had never seen a man so happy to get away from women. Brian bolted out of the girls arms and ran onto the stage, quickly grabbing the mic.
“You decided to sing?” Brian asked happily. I nodded and smirked.
“Now, Bri,” I began, resting my arm on his shoulder. He gave me a look and I flashed a smile. “You’re usually playing as Synyster Gates, am I right?” I looked to the crowd and they screamed. Brian chuckled, putting his head down. He nodded and looked at me. “So how about for a night you play M. Shadows?”
“Does that mean I get to take you to bed?” Brian whispered in my ear, moving his mic away from his mouth so no one could hear him. I giggled and blushed. He pulled away and cleared his throat, visibly standing taller. He brought the mic to his mouth and smiled. “Sure. It’s nice to see the easier side of the band for one night.”
“Well good. Cuz I’m being the Rev.” I mused happily, dancing a little. He laughed and smiled. I looked over to the DJ and nodded, and he mimicked me before turning on the music. The beginning to A Little Piece of Heaven blared through the stereo and everyone screamed. “Now let’s have a little piece of heaven, shall we?” Brian cleared his throat and turned to me, and I did the same.
Before the story begins, is it such a sin, for me to take what’s mine, until the end of time?” Brian began as the beat hit. I smiled and watched him, shocked when he got down on his knee. He grabbed my hand and winked. “We were more than friends, before the story ends, and I will take what’s mine,” I pulled my hand away from him, catching on to his little act. I turned around and he stood up, continuing to sing the words. I turned around and watched as he walked around me, acting out the music video to the best of his ability. When it got to the right parts, I laughed maniacally, not really getting the essence Jimmy always got.
Come here you fucking bitch!” I screamed loudly, trying not to laugh and Brian grinned widely. “Must’ve stabbed her fifty fucking times, I can’t believe it. Ripped her heart out right before her eyes, eyes over easy. Eat it, eat it, eat it!
She never was this good in bed, not even when she was sleeping,” Brian walked behind me, wrapping one arm around my waist and another loosely under my neck so that his lips and the mic were right next to my ear. “Now she’s just so perfect I’ve never been quite so fucking deep in her.” I shuttered as the words rang in my ears, getting slightly aroused. But I mean, who wouldn’t get aroused in someone like Brian whispered that in your ear? No one, that’s who. Even guys would get aroused.
We continued to sing along with each other, walking around the stage and keeping our attentions mainly on each other. I wasn’t near as nervous as I thought I would be, and it actually turned out to be really fun. That was until we got to the bridge.
I will suffer for so long,” Brian’s voice became quieter and smoother as he got more into the song. He wrapped his arm around my waist and looked deeply into my eyes. I was completely and utterly memorized and I almost forgot my line. “not long enough,” he pulled me closer to him so that our chests were touching. “To make it up to you,” “I hope to God that you do,” his hand tightened on my back and the back of our hands touched. “I’ll do whatever you want me to do,” “well then I’ll grant you one chance,” I could feel his breath against my face and his eyes were dilating. “And if it’s not enough,” “if it’s not enough” the room was spinning “if it not’s enough” “not enough” the room was gone. “Try again” “try again” Just me and Brian. “And again.” “and again.” For one whole minute, I fell in love with Brian Haner.
But then the song continued.
Brian let go of me and stepped away, quickly adding as much vigor as he had before. The room erupted with cheers and I smiled at Brian who was air-guitaring. That’s adorable. Suddenly another voice boomed through the speakers and I knew it was the DJ.
Do you take this man to death for the rest of your unnatural life?” I smiled and gave him a thumbs up before looking at Brian.
“Yes I do,” I said in a girly voice. Brian grabbed my hand and smirked.
Do you take this woman to death for the rest of your unnatural life?”
I do,” Brian growled, squeezing my hand. We watched each other for the rest of the song, our eyes not leaving each other. As the song ended we ended up standing almost chest-to-chest again. He wrapped his arm around my waist as we turned to the crowd, who was going absolutely crazy.
“Are you really Synyster Gates?” Someone shouted. Brian smiled and looked down at me.
“The one and only.” He mumbled into the mic as he stared at me.
“Are you guys together?” One of the crazy girls screamed. I glanced at Brian and he stiffened. I was at a loss. At the end of the day, though, I decided to be a great friend and help Brian out.
“Uh, yeah, we are.” I answered, trying not to stutter. I leaned my head against Brian’s shoulder and he rested his head on mine. They awed and flashes took place. Brian turned his head a little so I could hear him over the crowd.
“Thanks Kid. You really saved me.” Brian mumbled. I smiled and looked up at him.
“No problem, Bri. You saved me, too.” I answered quietly. Brian smiled before we put our mics and jumped off the stage, Brian grabbing my arm and guiding me to the bar for more drinks.

*Brian POV*
I watched Kid from a distance as I sat at a table, sipping my beer. After we had sang, Kid practically drank the whole bar, which made me the designated driver. So I had been drinking two shots followed by a glass of water and a few beers. She had finally loosened up and was now singing loudly and very drunkenly with the group of girls that were dancing on me earlier. I chuckled as she flipped her hair, being the drunkest I have ever seen her without her throwing things in rage. It was nice to get out and have fun with Kid, especially since she decided to sing. I thought she was great, and it was almost as fun as being on stage at a concert.
Kid looked over at me and winked, which made me chuckle. I raised my beer to her and she shot me a seductive look. So she’s a flirty drunk. How fun. Casual Sex by My Darkest Days came on the stereo and I burst into laughter. Kid looked over at me again and began walking over to me, trying to walk seductively. She kept stumbling, but I suppressed my laughter so she thought she was being hot. Kid crawled onto my lap and put my beer on the table before wrapping her arms around my neck. I put my hands on her waist and she smirked.
“Why aren’t you having fun?” She pouted. I smiled and bit my lip.
“I am. It’s pretty fun watching you dancing.” I snickered. She licked her lips and I looked at her. I couldn’t lie, Kid was pretty attractive. It made me pissed off that Matt was just leaving her out and I couldn’t help but think sometimes he didn’t deserve her. I saw Kid as a friend as well as a friend full of benefits, but it was tough not being able to really be friends with benefits with her. I understood and respected her wants for Matt to be the first rock star she banged, but if Matt didn’t get his head out of his ass she’d never get the experience. Okay, so yes, I did want to take her to bed, but I was going to be whatever she wanted me to be because I wasn’t going to be someone that pushes themselves on a girl.
“Do you want to go do something else?” She whispered in my ear. I held a shudder back and gave her a sly look.
“Like what?” I asked. She grabbed one of my hands and slid it across her bare stomach. She pushed it down a little and I stopped in shock.
Touch me.” She demanded. My eyes widened.
“Uh, what?” I asked, completely baffled. She smirked and raked her fingers through my hair.
“C’mon, Bri, I’m drunk and I want you. You can’t say you don’t want me too.” I gulped and looked away. Of course I did, she’s a hot female. But I didn’t want to do something either of us would regret.
“I, uh…” I was torn. She knew how to get me, I’d give her that. But she was drunk and I’d be taking advantage of her while she was under the influence. If anything were going to happen between us I’d want her to be sober enough to ask. I looked at her, her eyes burning with desire. I scratched back of my head and looked away. “Kid, you’re drunk. I wouldn’t feel right taking advantage of you like that.”
“You wouldn’t be taking advantage, Brian. Trust me.” She purred. I took a deep breath and kept my gaze off her. I felt her breath against my ears and I stiffened. “You know how people say not to listen to drunk people because we say stupid things?” I nodded and he chuckled. “Lie. They say that because we’re really just telling the truth.”
“Okay, let’s take you home.” I announced, trying to slide her off my lap. Her mouth crashed against mine and I held a moan in my throat. I unwillingly pulled myself away from her and grabbed her by the waist, taking her out of the bar before something stupid happened.

Merry Christmas! Hope you guys had a great day! I'm doing pretty good at updating a little bit quicker, but I may or may not have gotten a Supernatural season 1-8 boxset for Christmas and will be distracted a little more than usual >.> But hope you like it!:D And I hope you hate me for the Brian tease chapter, it was kind of a spin-off of the conversation between Kid and Emma last chapter x3 ~Jessi
