Two Vibrant Hearts

Chapter Fourty-Three

I woke up to a loud scream. Whether it was a boy’s or girl’s, I was completely unsure. All I knew was that the floor began shaking and then there was a wail.
“Oh my God is that-!” James screamed loudly. Someone began shaking my arm violently, causing me to wake up before I was ready. I moaned and stretched from my fetal position, rubbing my eyes before I opened them. The first thing I saw was Jordyn, TJ, and James all staring with wide and excited eyes at the door. I turned my head, my own eyes widening at who was standing in my doorway.
“Jaycee, am I seeing correctly?” Jordyn asked, her voice wavering. I sat up a little and laughed awkwardly.
“Well I mean if you see Zacky Vengeance from the esteemed Avenged Sevenfold is standing in my living room, uninvited, then yes you are seeing correctly.” I stated tiredly, shooting a glare at Zach. His eyes were wide and he was staring at me with a scared look. “Zacky, what the fuck are you doing here?”
“I, uh, you said we were going to talk about my dad visiting.” Zach stuttered, glancing at the anxious people in my living room that were mentally fucking him.
“I told you I was busy last night.” I said through my teeth. I looked at them and they were all staring between Zach and I with curiosity.
“Well I didn’t know you had people over.” Zach retorted.
“You could have called me.” I shot. By this point, Demi and Emma were both up, staring at Zach and I. Demi had the curious and excited look like everyone else, but Emma just looked bored and… guilty?
“I didn’t think you’d have people over.” Zach continued. I rolled my eyes.
“These are my friends.” I informed him. He gave me an amused look and I raised my eyebrow.
“You have friends?” Zach asked, laughing a little. I glared at him and Jordyn made a noise.
“Jaycee, are you and the Zacky Vengeance dating?” She asked, her voice wavering.
“No.” Zach and I said at the same time. Everyone’s eyes went wide except for Emma, who was smirking.
“Bitch I will slap that smirk right off your face. You know I don’t like Zach.” I shot at Emma, hoping she wouldn’t bring Matt into the conversation. I really didn’t want to be used by my new friends.
“I said nothing.” Emma replied, shrugging. I sighed and turned back to Zach, who was gawking at Jordyn.
“So what exactly brings you here on this fine day, good sir?” I asked with a formal voice. Zach raised his eyebrows and chuckled.
“What did I say about calling me sir?” Zach retorted. I smiled innocently and he rolled his eyes. “I wanted to hang out today and talk about my dad.”
“Are you guys getting married?” Demi cooed. I shot a look at her and sighed.
“No. We both have parent issues. We’re each other’s therapists.” I said, letting out a deep breath. Everyone gave me a confused look and I stood up, looking at Zach. “Let me look less hung over and then we’ll talk.”
“You look quite sexy when you’re hung over.” Zach mused, slapping my ass as I walked to my room.
“Shove it, Baker.” I called as I grabbed clothes from my wardrobe.
“Can I do that?” TJ yelled from the other room. I laughed loudly, dropping the clothes from my hands.
“Go for it, Teej.” I returned, continuing to laugh. I could hear everyone else laughing, including Zach. He must have figured out by now that Teej was more flaming than a wild fire. I got changed and went to the bathroom to wipe off my makeup and fix my hair. I threw my blue mess into a bun and cleaned off all the smudged makeup before brushing my teeth. I applied a little bit of eyeliner before walking into my bedroom and sliding on my vans. I came out of my room to see everyone talking to Zach, especially Jordyn. Zach seemed zoned in on her too, as though he had the hots for her. “Let’s go, Romeo.”
“Why am I Romeo?” Zach questioned. I raised an eyebrow and he got a guilty look across his face. I glanced at Jordyn, who was still eye-fucking Zach.
“You know why.” I snickered. He licked his lips nervously before waving at everyone. They all waved back and we were heading out when I stopped and ran over to Emma. She gave me a questioning look and I leaned in so I was right next to her ear.
“Please don’t tell them about Matt. I don’t want them to bug me. I didn’t even want them to know about Avenged.” I whispered. Emma nodded and I smiled. I gave her a quick hug before running back to Zach, who was making googley eyes at Jordyn. I pulled him out and we walked down the stairs. When we got into his car I narrowed my eyes at him. He gave me a worried look and I wiggled my eyebrows. He blinked a little bit and I gave him a cheeky smile. “You have the hots for Jordyn, don’t you?”
“Whaaat? No.” Zach scoffed, although I could tell he was lying through his teeth.
“Nice try, Romeo.” I laughed, lightly hitting his chest. He grumbled and pulled out of the parking lot. “Go to Taco Bell.”
“Why?” Zach asked.
“I’m hungry.” I replied.
“No. We need to talk.” Zach answered.
“We can talk at Taco Bell. Now go or I will stab you.” I threatened. Zach groaned loudly before taking the turn to go to Taco Bell. “We also have to pick my car up from Liquid.”
“Why?” Zach repeated. I smiled and rolled my eyes.
“I got drunk last night with my new friends.” I informed him. He burst into laughter and I raised my eyebrows. He held his stomach and pretended to wipe a tear as he continued to laugh. I stared blankly at him until he stopped laughing.
“That was a good joke. Now what’s the real reason?” Zach giggled, calming himself down. I gave him a look and amusement crossed his face. “You got drunk? You haven’t done anything fun since the three month friendiversary.”
“I know. But I needed friends.” I shrugged. Zach let out a laugh before getting out of the car. I followed him in and picked a seat while he ordered our food. He came back with a ticket and sat across from me, smirking.
“You finally sick of being friends with Avenged?” Zach questioned. I let out a laugh and shook my head.
“Never. But I’ll rephrase that,” I answered, rolling my eyes at him. “I needed girl friends. TJ and James were just bonus friends.”
“They seem nice. How’d you guys meet?” Zach questioned. I explained to him about going to Liquid and them going to the bar next to me and us talking. He sat in silence, listening patiently, until our food was called. He went and got our food, and for the first few minutes we were silent as we munched on our tacos. After a while he swallowed a big bite and looked at me. “So did you have fun?”
“Yeah, I did. And I would have continued it if you didn’t crash the party,” I commented, a hint of sarcasm in my voice. He pouted at me and I smiled, entertained with his response.
“I didn’t know you had people there!” Zach whined. I giggled and shook my head, which caused him to pout more. “And it’s not like I did anything to ruin it.”
“Are you serious?” I questioned incredulously. He gave me a confused look and I let out a small groan. “You are Zacky fucking Vengeance. From Avenged fucking Sevenfold.”
“And how is that-“
“Because I didn’t want them to know about my being friends with Avenged Sevenfold!” I interrupted. He gave me a shocked look and I let out a sigh. “I didn’t want my new friends to know because I didn’t want them to use me to get to you guys.”
“I’m sorry, Kid. I didn’t know,” Zach apologized. I let out a breath and crossed my hand across the table so my hand was resting on his.
“It’s fine, Zach. I know you didn’t. I overreacted,” I said quietly. He smiled at me and I returned it before taking my hand back and taking a huge drink of my soda. “So enough about me, what happened with James?”
“We talked about the marriage and he’s okay that I’m not too thrilled about it,” Zach informed me.
“Well that’s good.” I smiled. He returned it and smirked a little.
“He made this really funny joke,” Zach began, his smirk growing. I waited in anticipation and watched as he tried to hold back a laugh. “He called you smart.”
“Oh ha-ha, you fucking child.” I said sarcastically, punching his shoulder. He let out a snicker and I rolled my eyes at him.
“No, but I told him about how we had to respect their decision because we’re their children and he said you were smart,” Zach restated. I smiled widely.
“I am smart.” I stated smugly, putting my head high. Zach laughed and shook his head before sighing.
“He asked if we had been going out.”
“No fucking way.” I said flatly. Zach nodded and rolled his eyes. I began fuming a little. “Why does everyone think that?”
“Well he didn’t think we were, he asked about it because he thought it’d be awkward if we had,” Zach explained. I cooled down and oh’ed. It was quiet for a few more minutes before I gave him a sly look. He looked at me with a shocked look and raised his eyebrows. “What?”
“You like Jordyn, don’t you Zach?” I questioned, making myself sound like SpongeBob on that episode where he finds Squidward kissing a Krabby Patty.
“No.” Zach said quickly, although it gave away the fact that he was lying. I smirked and he sighed loudly.
“You like her.” I repeated. Zach gave me a puppy dog look and I smiled widely. “Awe! Big brother’s got a crush!”
“Shut up Kid.” Zach snapped. I giggled and Zach flipped me off.
“I am so going to get you guys together and it will be amazing.” I cooed, getting really excited. Zach gave me a doubtful look and I stopped my fangirling.
“What if she doesn’t like me?” Zach questioned. I rolled my eyes and scoffed.
Please. She was totally eye-fucking you this morning. There’s no possible way she doesn’t like you.” I stated. Zach gave me another look and I groaned. “What?”
“You know, I am a rock star. What if she only wants to fuck me?” Zach asked. I pursed my lips, trying not to smirk.
“Well then take the fuck and be okay with it. From the looks of it your sex life isn’t that exciting anyways,” I retorted bluntly. Zach scowled, proving that I was correct. “You’re really beginning to sound like a girl, Zach. So what if she just wants some Zacky sex?”
“I have a little bit more morals, you know.” Zach mumbled, although he couldn’t help but smile. I began laughing and he let out a small chuckle too, knowing that was a complete lie. “Okay, fine. I’m lonely. Big tough men like me get lonely too, you know?”
“Oh yeah, totally tough.” I joked, giggling. He pushed me a little and I sighed. “I’m sure if you guys do anything it’d be enough for you to get over your moodiness. And if Jordyn likes you, then you get sex and a girlfriend. It’s a win-win.”
“I guess you’re right.” Zach sighed. I nodded victoriously and he stayed silent before giving me a sad look. “So what about you and Matt?”
“… there is no ‘me and Matt’, Zach. You know this.” I replied, my voice quiet. He gave me a sympathetic look and I played with my straw.
“Have you even tried to talk to him after your fight about Gayle?” Zach wondered. I shook my head and he licked his lips. “You should try. It’s been almost two weeks since you talked to him.”
“He doesn’t want to talk to me, so I’m not going to bother him.” I snapped, my feelings resurfacing from the depths of my mind that I had stored them in. Zach gave me a look, but I ignored him.
“You’re being a baby.” Zach spat. I glared at him and he continued to stare at me with a hard look.
“He won’t even let me near him. You saw two days ago, he left the house before I even had time to notice him,” I argued.
“That’s because he still fucking likes you, Kid.” Zach growled. I shot my head back, baffled at what Zach just said. I shook my head in denial, looking down at my feet.
“He can’t. He doesn’t. Not after finding out about Gayle.” I whispered, closing my eyes. I heard Zach let out a breath and he reached over the table so his arm was on my shoulder.
“Kid, I can see it in his eyes that he still likes you. You just need to talk to him.” Zach rationalized. I bit my lip, scared to think about talking to Matt again. I didn’t like seeing him angry; it actually scared me quite a bit. I was never one to be proud that I had angered someone, unless I was physically trying to piss them off.
“When would I be able to talk to him?” I protested, hoping that would be enough to get away from Zach’s attempts to make me face my fears.
“I’ll round all of them up at Matt’s tomorrow and take you there,” Zach said. I sighed, knowing there was no way out of this. “Don’t worry, Kid. Things are going to be fixed.”
