Lost, Broken and Shattered

Part Seven

Erin sits on the cold bathroom floor, breathing heavily. How long were these things supposed to take… three minutes? She had already texted Liberty, asking for her to come over as soon as she could, even though she knew that Payton should have been the first one she told. But for some reason, she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.

“Erin?” She perks up at the familiar high-pitched voice of the peppy blonde coming from her bedroom outside. She gets up and opens the bathroom door, and Liberty notices right away, and rushes inside.

“Ohmygod,” she breathes. “I, like, totally freaked when I saw your message; I thought you were dying or something!”

“I think I might be,” Erin mutters.

“Have you been crying?” she demands, ignoring her completely. “Shit, what’s going on?”

Erin picks up the pregnancy test off the side of the tub and holds it in front of Liberty’s face. Her eyes widen dramatically and her jaw drops.

“You’re pregnant?” she exclaims, her voice, if possible, octaves higher than normal. Erin turns it around so she can see the results, her heart dropping as soon as she realized it was indeed positive. “Ohmygod. Jackson isn’t the father is he?” If it weren’t for the situation at hand, Erin would’ve burst out laughing at such an oblivious statement.

“Oh god no!” she exclaims. “No; he’s from out of state. You wouldn’t know him.”

“Oh.” She frowns for a moment before an impish grin appears on her face. “Is he hot?”

“Yes? No? I don’t know!” Erin rambles, trying to resist the urge to face palm herself – or Liberty, for that matter. “It doesn’t matter, because he’s all the way in Michigan, and chances are I won’t ever tell him about it.”

“Then what are you going to do?”

“I don’t know.” She sits down on the toilet seat, defeated. Liberty bites her lip thoughtfully.

“Maybe you could just abort it,” she suggests. Erin snaps her head up, glaring at her.

“That costs money,” she points out. “Besides, I don’t believe in abortion.”

“Maybe… You can force yourself to get a miscarriage.” The way she says it like it’s the simplest thing on the entire planet makes her instantly regret even inviting her over in the first place.

“Liberty,” Erin speaks slowly, “I’m not getting an abortion, and I’m not going to ‘give myself a miscarriage’.” She just shrugs.

“Are you going to keep it then?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well, if you do, I’m sure you could afford it.” Erin raises an eyebrow at her. “What? Your house is fucking huge! When are your parents going out of town next? Because I could totally see us throwing the most epic house party ever.” Erin just groans. “You know,” she continues, still completely oblivious to Erin’s blatant annoyance with her, “when my sister got pregnant last year, she just gave the baby up for adoption, like it never happened.”

“I just… I can’t be pregnant when I’m only sixteen. Daenerys is the fuck-up; not me.” Liberty cocks her head to the side in confusion.

“Who’s Daenerys?” she asks.

“My sister,” she replies with the full intention to brush it off.

“You have a sister?”

Yes.” Erin rolls her eyes, knowing that they’ve had this conversation before.

“…Wait, you’re not talking about Daenerys Daenerys, are you?” Erin just blinks.

“What?”

“You know, the Daenerys that hangs out with Will.”

“Uh, yeah… I think so.”

“Dude, your sister’s a drug dealer.” Erin’s mouth falls open slightly.

“…What?”

“Yeah, I bought from her the other day. She was cool; she gave me a discount because I was short a few bucks.”

Erin stands abruptly, practically stomping to Daenerys’ room, where the young girl is amusing herself by spinning around in her desk chair, humming along to the music playing inside her head. However, as soon as Erin bursts in, she stops, staring directly at her expectantly.

“What the fuck?” she yells. “What the fuck do you mean you’re a drug dealer?” Daenerys just blinks.

“I’m a drug dealer,” she shrugs.

“Wha…?”

“What’s your point?” Erin blinks before remembering what she was originally in here for.

She slams the pregnancy test onto the desk behind Daenerys. She looks at it for a moment.

“Okay. So what?”

“I need your help.” She just laughs.

You need my help? Yeah, right.”

“This is serious, Danny.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“Don’t you have something – anything – I can take?”

“You want to abort it?”

“I thought you said you didn’t want to abort it?” Liberty pipes up from the doorway. Daenerys glances over her shoulder and sends a small wave over at the petite blonde, who waves back happily.

“I don’t know what I want to do,” Erin admits, sitting on Daenerys’ bed.

“Well, I don’t handle the kinds of drugs that give you abortions,” Daenerys says. “…But if you wanted me to, I could talk to Will about it.”

“You could?” she asks hopefully.

“Except,” Danny continues, “you would have to pay me back. And there is the chance you could get addicted to the drugs.”

“Why don’t you just have a normal abortion?” Liberty asks.

“I don’t want one,” Erin states simply.

“But you want to force yourself to have one.” She glares at her twin, who just holds her hands up in surrender. “Look; unless you’re here to buy something, get out.”

“Actually –”

Let’s go, Liberty,” Erin cuts her off, grabbing her wrist and pulling her out of there.

“So,” she begins once they’ve made it back to her room. “What are you going to do now?”

She hesitates for a moment.

“My dad’s going to be in San Francisco for the weekend…” An excited look crosses Liberty’s face.

“Party?” Erin sighs.

“Party."

Notes

A/N: So I know this chapter was sort of shitty, but I don't know how else to rewrite it, so...

I actually finished writing this story and I am so happy about that. So since I have it done, I'm going to try and keep updates of this more regular... Probably Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There are twenty chapters, I think, and the last one is an epilogue that kind of introduces the sequel... (yes, there will be a sequel).

Also, for those of you who have been reading "Famous Last Words", since I am done writing this, I will be focusing more on that before I write the sequel for this, so expect an update before the end of the weekend.

As always, thank you for all the wonderful feedback I have gotten so far on this. Have a good weekend!
