Oh Great Leader

Josephine’s POV
“We will do this, the meeting is at 11 at your office” Zack said and closed the door, leaving me baffled. I needed to remind myself to close my mouth and gather my thoughts. Why did that guy didn’t get it? I needed my guard out, not replaced! I needed to make sure this whole thing wouldn’t be happening, these men were driving me insane, I mean, there can’t be another reason for the strange reaction of my brain, why would I be dreaming about the two men I have met from that company. Shit, what would happen if I meet another?! I started pacing the room. Think, Josephine! Think! You are good at problem solving. Go on, solve this one! I grabbed my phone and decided to send mr. Sanders a short email. I would rather call, but I couldn’t, his voice did strange things with my gut feeling.

“Mr. Sanders,

Zachary just informed me about your plan. It’s obvious I need to say exchanging bodyguards is unacceptable. As I repeatedly informed you, I don’t need a bodyguard and I won’t except another one of your men invading my home and business.
I trust you to solve this ‘problem’ the right way.

Sincerely, Josephine Thompkinson”

I stood on my balcony and looked over the beach, trying to gather my thoughts, I needed to take control of this situation right away, this is getting out of hand, quick. It’s time to be my own self again. I took a few deep breaths and turned around to get ready for work, when I heard my phone.

“Matt Sanders calling”

I let the phone drop as if it was on fire. JOSEPHINE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! You can handle a man like him, he is runs a business, just like you! I grabbed the phone and quickly picked up.

“Mr. Sanders, how can I help you? I’m sorry my email wasn’t clear enough. That’s my mistake”
His deep voice didn’t sound friendly at all, it sounded annoyed.
“Josephine, don’t play innocent with me. You told me you had a problem, I’m solving it for you, and you are still not satisfied. This is starting to get very tedious, Josy”
My skin crawled when he shortened my name and I could barely control my anger when I started to speak
“1. This is not solving the problem, this is moving the problem to another person and 2. Listen carefully, because this is important. My name is Josephine, or miss Thompkinson if you like, but don’t shorten it! It’s not my name!”
“The minute you start behaving like a Josephine I will call you that, for now.. You have to settle for Joe, and now tell me why this is a bad solution?”
“I already told you, I’m not repeating myself. Are you going to take care of this the right way?”
Matt growled at the other end of the line and that made my insides do a little jump, why was my body betraying me like this?
“I will think about it, I’m not making any promises, Joe” and with that, he ended the call.

I let out a scream in frustration “Argh!”
Why won’t he just do as I say!

Matt’s POV
I began to realize why Zack was so eager in getting rid of his task with Josephine, but on the other hand, why was he letting this affect him so much.
Normally Zacky was a laid back guy, I couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t come along with a strong woman and that Josephine definitely was.
I smiled at the image of her running into my office and wanting to convince me of taking the bodyguard off her.
I chuckled, as if… I gave my word to protect her and her sister and I would keep it no matter what. And no matter how they were getting on Brian and Zack’s nerves these guys could work for their money.. well our money…

And when I now came up with a solution which would solve all the problems, Zack with his annoyance and Josephine of Zack… It wasn’t right.
I planned on letting Brian and Zack change position, since it didn’t seem that Brian had any big trouble with Jacky, which I never expected, I thought he would be the first to call me and be done with it, but I was wrong on this one… A first.
What happened then? I made all the calls I convinced a very stubborn Brian to do how I say, normally he never questioned my ways, okay fine he does question my ways, but not as long as I am handling everything as boss. He respected my position, he would go with it, but this time he was hard to convince.
And that made me suspicious in a way, he does have a point, since the girl got used to him, but I think she would also get used to Zack and since it was only for a day I think it would be fine, so finally I pulled out my whole leadership speech and he had to agree, I didn’t leave this up for any discussion.

That done, Josephine wrote me an email she doesn’t want to exchange, what was wrong now?!
I had to call her right away.
I mean this woman didn’t know what she wanted apparently.
The talk to her done, arguing back and forth I had now another task ahead of me and give Brian new directions again and tell Jacky, no exchange of bodyguards.
Damn it!
I didn’t directly tell Josephine I would call it off, I let her in the blue a little… I liked to take away the control of her situation, and she hated it, I knew it.
I was feeling the same, but I wouldn’t let her know that…

I sat into my office chair and dialed Brian’s number on my office phone, again it took him a while to pick up, what was going on that he always needed so long…
Normally he always had his phone in hand, so what was different now?
I frowned a little and knew I had to get behind the source of this.
“Matt, give me a second.” Before I could say anything I heard some rustling.. a muffled voice’s sounded like an argument, but I couldn’t understand the words.
The rustling got worse, I bet he pressed the phone against his chest, so I couldn’t understand.
“Alright, sorry about that.”Brian was talking again, but I heard him move, then a door close and his breathing.
“What was that about?” I asked him and it took him a moment to reply.
“What? Oh… I was… we were just discussing what would be happening today, since the whole bodyguard exchange you want to do… I told it was not so easy to tell her this, she doesn’t like the whole being under watch scenery and since you wanna take it to another level, she began to argue.” It sounded logical, but Brian took too long to say it so I knew something different was wrong I just didn’t know how.
“And now what is really going on?” I asked and waited for the answer.
“Nothing, told you about it. She doesn’t like changes that is it, she is letting out her frustration on me.” Brian said and I had to go with it for now.

My cell phone rang and I looked at the caller, Josephine’s number popped up.
She couldn’t wait could she, I grinned.
“Matt?” Brian sounded through the speaker.
“Wait a second.” I took my cell phone and picked up. “Joe, I am in a business call. I will talk to you lat-” She cut me off. “Tell me that you won’t do it. I told you don’t want to have another stranger in my home.” She said and I sighed.
“Let me call you back in a few minutes.”I said and hung up, control was mine.

“What was that about?” Brian mimicked my earlier question.
“Nothing… To come back to the reason of my call, the exchange is called off.” I told him finally.
“What? How come?” Brian asked surprised and did I hear relief in his voice.
“Doesn’t matter, I just wanted to let you know, so you can go back to your client and inform her that you will stay. But Haner, I got an eye on you-”

Josephine’s POV
Let me call you back in a few minutes? Let me call you back in a few minutes? That man was mental! How dare he hang up on me like that?!I was his client, the customer was king, or queen in my case, why didn’t he do as I wanted and to top that all, why did he think he had the right to treat me like that! This was completely unacceptable, that guy needed a refresher course on how to get along with customers.

I walked out to my closet and grabbed some clothes randomly, and set them on my bed. I stormed into the bathroom and washed my face, brushed my teeth and brushed my hair, before wrapping it in a neat bun. This systematically preparing for the working day, helped me to clear my mind, get the right attitude again. As I put my clothes on, I slowly felt the anger build up as I regained my posture.

Matt is supposed to be a businessman, he is running his company, a big company as I saw on the business report I requested of Secured Sevenfold, so how could he get away with talking to his customers like that. I just didn’t understand how, call it a professional interest. I should ask him about it sometime, maybe when this has all passed and all these stupid ‘feelings’ had cooled down and went back to normal I could have a business talk with him. As if he could tell me anything new, I smirked.

The zipper of my skirt went up smoothly, which gave me a strange contented feeling of control. I looked in the mirror and was completely satisfied with my look, white blouse and pencil skirt I was ready to go work, I felt strong again and I sat down on my bed to do the finishing touch by putting on my favorite heels. As I was fastening the straps, my mind wandered back to these men again. Why was mind so full of these tattooed men? It annoyed me, that this was making me so unbalanced, I was in control.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror again.
“You are in control, take it back!”
I would demand an answer, right now! I decided to call Matt again and get an answer, I wouldn’t let him hang up on me again. I dialed his number again and as I waited for him to pick up the phone I got in my role of vice president again. He would meet a different Josephine than I was in our first call this earlier.

Matt’s POV
My phone blarred again and I sighed.
Josephine again, damn it. “Yes?” I asked her. “Answer me now, and don’t hang up on me, I don’t like that.”She sounded really pissed now.
“Fine, I was about to call you right after. It’s called off. Are you happy now?” I asked and nearly forgot that Brian was still on speaker.
“We will discuss this another time.”
“Fine.” She replied and hung up I sighed.

“Did I just hear this correctly?” Brian chuckled. “Did she just get her will, did you just give in to her? Is she that intimidating, oh great leader?” Brian laughed now and I narrowed my eyes.
“Just do your job, and mind your own business, and give me daily updates, I won’t allow any more skipping my calls, Haner, are we clear?”
“Yes Sir.” I could imagine Brian fake saluting at me right now and I hated him at the moment and myself even more for letting me get into this situation thanks to Joe.
“Talk to you later.”
“Bye, Matt. Next time I let Josephine give me some advices about how to get my will with you.” He chuckled again and I rolled my eyes.
“Fuck off.” I said before I hung up.
Damn it, the girls were really doing a hell of a job to keep all of us on our feet.
