Shattered By Broken Dreams

**Zacky's POV**

I'm fast asleep on the tour bus when my cell phone stares ringing. I roll over, groan and check the time...shit, it's 4am...who the hell is calling me at this early?!

My sleepy eyes aren't able to focus on the caller ID quite yet so I send it to voicemail and stuff my face back in my pillow...it's seriously too early for this shit. The phone begins to ring again and Matt growls that if I don't shut it off or answer it that he's going to beat me bloody so I slide the answer button, "What?!" I grumble out harshly and hear someone take a sharp intake of air so I quickly wipe my tired eyes and look at the caller ID again.... It's my mom.

"Zack?" she says in a distraught tone that has me fully awake within seconds.

"Mom?! What's wrong? Did something happen to Dad?" I ask quickly and can hear her sobbing on the other end of the line causing my heart to sink in my chest and vomit begins to rise in my throat.

She sniffles back the tears and clears her throat, "It's not your dad....it's Chrissie....she's....she's in the hospital...it's bad" she cries and I am wracked with concern and confusion....my sister is only 17 years old...why is she in the hospital?!

I spring up in bed and wipe the tears that are forming in my eyes away, "What happened?!" I sob and she releases a shaky breath.

"I found her unconscious in a pool of her own blood on the bathroom floor....she's started cutting again and I guess she let it get too far" she huffs out sounding just a little pissed off and disappointed in her.

I start to get angry' "How did nobody see the signs?! How could you have let this happen again?!" I shout and my mom tries to tell me it's not their fault but I don't want to hear it, "She's your daughter!!! You're supposed to care enough to notice before she nearly bleeds to death on the floor!" I say and chuck the phone across the bus.

Matt peaks his head in my bunk and hands me back my phone, "Hey sorry, is everything ok?" he asks with genuine concern and I shake my head.

"I'm sorry man, I need to go home for a few days....it's a family emergency" I say sadly and he nods his head.

"Take as much time as you need and let us know if there is anything we can do to help...we are all a family...blood relation or not....we are here for you" he replies and I give him a grateful nod before stuffing a suitcase full of clothes and arraigning a flight home.

I haven't been home in months because of touring and recording so part of me feels guilty for not being there enough and possibly being able to prevent this from happening....I hope Chrissie can forgive me and let me help.
