Chapter 7
Matt’s P.O.V
I sat there with Val as she held little baby Colby in her arms which made me want my son to be here even more. She sat there playing with his dark brown hair and smiled really big at any face that he made. She handed him to Izzy and she started crying and Val rubbed her shoulder.
“Sweetie those better be tears of happiness” Val said to her.
“I just can’t believe that Zack lost control… I can’t believe that he would do that to her” Izzy said shaking her head disappointed. Through the window I could see Zack walk up the pathway to my door. I walked over and opened it waiting to see what he wanted.
“I need to see him Matt… please” Zack said to me and you could tell that he had been crying. I just stood there not wanting to move and bring the bad energy around Colby.
“Right now I don’t think that is such a good idea dude; you are at risk still. You don’t want your son to be put into the bad stuff” I said sternly trying to reason with him. He rubbed under his eyes and sat down and just cried.
“I didn’t mean to do it… there was so much blood and so many emotions… and Papa Gates” He said and I sat down on the steps next to him. This was a tough situation but the whole thing felt weird to me… I was unsure why though.
“I get that you didn’t mean to Zack nobody thinks that you did it on purpose. We just need to make sure that you are right in the head and stable before you see him. We only want the best for the two of you dude. This is hard and you are seriously lucky that Izzy didn’t kill you because she is just so broken up every time she holds that little boy. That was your wife dude… the point is that you need to get it together and then you can see him. How is Erin doing?” I asked him and he just sighed.
“Ellie has been running some tests on her… she hasn’t come through yet. Ellie is still trying to get everything set up and ready for her to come back. I just want to hold her again and tell her that I am so sorry” He said and I knew that he was sorry. I knew that she was the only one for him… Val and I were the same way. I looked behind me and watched all the girls swooning over the baby and then I saw Brian holding him. He looked really father like holding a baby which was interesting to see. I turned to Zack and he smiled at me which was good to see from him.
“Thanks for taking care of Colby for a little while Matt. Is he okay? I didn’t get to see him after Izzy took him away” He said and I patted his back.
“That little boy smiles so much; he is really good. Ellie is coming over later so maybe you can hold him then. But for now why don’t you just go and clear your head and later you can focus on your son” I said and I saw him light up inside.. I may be a nice guy because I am letting him see Colby… but I didn’t want to see how Erin was going to be when she woke up and saw Zack. She was going to have a fit being really protective of Colby. Zack got up and walked down the street just taking time to himself.
“Val I am gonna go talk to Ellie” I said into the house standing up and she turned and smiled nodding. I knew that she was just loving playing with Colby. I walked over to Zack’s and when I walked in Ellie was running tests on Erin. She turned and saw me and seemed a little upset.
“You okay Ellie?” I asked and she sighed and stopped what she was doing.
“Why in the hell did no one mention to me that Papa Gates was involved with Erin? Do you know how much danger she and Colby are in? That man is gonna go after them like there is no tomorrow. You have to send Colby up to be with her sister… It is the safest..” She said but I cut her off at the end.
“That would kill Erin and Zack not seeing their son; I am almost 100% sure that they would never go for that” I said getting irritated even though she was right.
“This is about Colby! At least while they are stopping Papa Gates he needs to be in heaven and protected! Just because you are all strong doesn’t mean that you can protect Erin and Colby
from what is coming! So stop being so stubborn and you tell them the plan or I will take him there myself for his own safety.” She said…. Wow she had a badass side… I have to give her credit for that. I sighed and rubbed my face and my hair.
“We at least need to let them have a day with their son” I said and she nodded and went back to doing her tests. Erin looked like she was healing a little and her belly was gone now. She looked like she was going to be coming through soon. I hated having to tell bad news especially when she was already probably angry in her own mind.
Izzy’s P.O.V
I walked around the room rocking Colby in my arms and he was loving every minute of it. Jimmy came over and rubbed my back and pulled me close. He leaned in to Colby and was playing with his little fingers and Jimmy was just in love with this kid.
“Jim Jam don’t get too attached; he isn’t ours” I said laughing and he laughed loudly making Colby laugh as well.
“Well then must breed our own children so that I may play and laugh with them and father
them!!” He said loudly enough for everyone to stare at the two of us. I think that he was serious. But this was the first time that he has ever mentioned children; I was a little nervous thinking about it even though Colby was such a cutie!
“Maybe after this whole mess is over we will start “breeding” our own kids but for now let’s just focus on taking care of Colby” I said giggling and he shrugged and went to the kitchen.
Zack’s P.O.V
Clear my mind… just get yourself together… you became a dad today. You need to be better… you need to just be the guy that Erin married and keep them safe I thought to myself as I walked down to the park where I hoped that I could take Colby to one day.
“Mr. Baker we need to have a word” I heard someone say from behind and then I turned and it was Papa Gates.
“There is nothing to talk about; please leave me alone before I seriously hurt you Gates” I spat at him and he backed up a little.
“Did Erin ever mention the vision that I had of you and her?” He asked me and I stopped in my tracks and then shook my head.
“Hmmm… well I told Brian about it and he told Erin; the vision was of you biting her and taking away everything that she is and possibly her powers…. But you see I never said when it would happen or the exact things that you could have done…. Think about it… Erin has been oblivious to my actual plan this whole time” Gates said and I stood there frozen..
“What plan?” I asked softly. He came really close to me and stared me right in the eyes.
“Send your son to Heaven like the rest of the band wants…. Or you will never see Erin again… would you even be able to realize that Gena could be taking her right now?” He said and I was suddenly breathless. Suddenly there was a mass amount of light and a high pitched noise making Papa Gates disappeared. And standing before me with her long brown hair and gorgeous green eyes…. My sister Christina Baker…
What the heck was she doing here?
