Dancing Girl

Brian POV

I barely slept through the night, I kept thinking about Katelyn. She was sleeping next to me, her body touching to mine. I can’t believe that she’s here, can’t believe that hey douchbag of a boyfriend abuses this tiny woman.

I look at her, eyes closed with her hand on my chest. I trail my fingers on her face, seeing the faded bruises under her eyes and a fresh one on her forehead. I was thinking about how hurt she must have gone through because of Rick, how much she had to suffer. Why does she not end this? Why is she still with him?

I spent most of the night thinking about her while looking at every inch of her body, her beautiful and perfect body. I also texted Nina about what happened and that she’s staying with me for now. She thanked me and told me to call her once Katelyn wakes up. I look at the time, it’s 7am. Since I cannot sleep I decide to get out of bed and prepare something to eat for breakfast. Slowly and carefully I lifted Katelyn’s face from me and I managed to get out. I put a pillow under her face for her to rest on it. Once I got out I glanced at her one last time, she was still sound asleep.

As I’m preparing something to eat the doorbell rang. Who is here at this deadly hour? Once I open the door I realize that it’s Matt.
“Yo man, what up?” as he enters my house.
“Erm dude, why are you up so early? Couldn’t sleep” I casually ask him while heading to the kitchen to continue cooking.
“I woke up full of energy, already went for a jog this morning. Perfect weather. So, what are you up to?” he asks while making himself a glass of water like it is his own damn home.

“Uhm…I don’t know yet. Don’t know if I’ll get out. Actually I need to tell you something. There’s someone else sleeping in my bed right now.”
I see his face lights up. “Nice Haner! Who is she? Am I intruding or something?”
I shake my head, “No, no it’s not what you think. Well, I wish it was that, but sadly no. Let me tell you everything”.

I tell everything to Matt, from the phone call to how badly Katelyn was injured. He couldn’t believe it and I could see it from his eyes that he was pissed and full of anger.
“How could he? Lift his hands on her! I need to fuckin see him and I’ll blow his brains out by all the punching he has to go through!”
“Seriously, I don’t know. I think we need to figure out a plan on how we can help her get rid of him, without putting herself in more danger”, I tell Matt.
“Yeah we should. Maybe we can talk to the other guys as well. We sure as hell can kick his ass”.


Katelyn POV

I open my eyes as I realize that I’m not in my bedroom, this is not my room. I look around and see picture frames of Brian with several of friends. Oh yes, he picked me up and got me to his place after the meltdown with Rick. Oh shit, Rick! I hope he did not call me. I look at my phone: no messages, no phone calls.

I sigh with relief as I fall back on the bed again. Wow, I slept peacefully this night, it’s been a while. I felt safe with Brian, wasn’t afraid that something might go wrong. How I wish I can feel that with Rick.

I hear my stomach grumbling as I smell eggs being cooked. Brian must be cooking something for breakfast. I get out of bed and head to the kitchen. As I’m walking I glance at a mirror that there’s in the corridor. I look at my reflection: I had black bags under my eyes, another bruise on my head. I lift Brian’s shirt which I was wearing to see my ribs. Deep purple bruises have already formed, and so painful. I look one more time at my reflection: this shouldn’t be me. I deserve better.

I head to the kitchen as I hear Brian talk with someone. Brian locks his eyes with mine and smile, “Hey gorgeous good morning. Had a great night?”. The other guy turns around to face me.
“You and your compliments. Yes I slept perfectly fine last night thanks. But now I’m really hungry! What are you eating?”
“Oh nothing special. Just some eggs, toast and beans. I’ll make you some!”, Brian says as he gets out of his place to cook while still eating.

I feel his friend staring at me, so I look down.
“Don’t. Brian told me everything. If I find that son of a bitch I’ll get his eyes out of his eye sockets!”, he says.
I looked shocked at him, “I bet you’re the tough one huh?”.
“Yeah that’s me. My name is Matt by the way. I’ve enjoyed your performance in Scream”, as he winks at me.
“Thank you. It feels like ages ago..a lot had happened”, I say while looking at Brian. He looked at me and then at Matt, “Tell her what we were talking about”.
“Oh yeah definitely. So we’re thinking of a plan to give a lesson to this douchbag…”
“You mean Rick”, I say, smirking at him.
“Yeah, the douchbag” he smirks back. “We were thinking of coming to the club another time and to find him outdoors. The rest, well you might know what happens”.

I shake my head, “It’s not going to be that easy. There are securities everyone, and if something bad happens, you’re going to get in trouble and not him”.
“Listen, trust me, trust us. We’ll figure out a way on how to escape the securities. We are going to teach him a lesson. We will, we have to. He needs to stop this. Damn it Katelyn. He’s hurting you, why don’t you understand this?”

I do understand Matt and I know that they are right. But I’m not entirely convinced, and Brian sits in front of me as he brings me my food. “Don’t worry. We’re around 7 guys, I’m sure nothing will happen since he’ll get afraid just by looking at us” he says smirking at me.
“Don’t be so full of yourself Brian. This is Rick we’re talking about, I know what he’s capable of!”
“Jokes aside, Katelyn, we’ll figure out a way on how to deal with him and when. We just have to tell the other guys, once you accept”.
“I don’t want you to get into trouble because of me Brian! This goes to all of you!”
“We won’t”, Brian says while putting his hands on top of mine.

After some time thinking I finally give in, “Fine, you can tell them. We need to tell Nina as well”.
“Awesome! Let’s group up then, today!” Matt says while drinking some water. He sure is the tough one, maybe a leader as well.
I’m still not convinced, I’m afraid that something goes wrong and the plan fails. I’m afraid that someone might get hurt because of me. I don’t want Brian and his friends to get hurt. At the same time they really want to help me.

I look blankly at them while they’re discussing, as my phone started ringing. Brian snaps his head towards me and I got shivers all over my body. Rick is calling me.
