Love Thy Vengeance

‘Electra Reed?’ I heard my name called and looked up to see a woman in a nurses outfit, I pulled Zack up and we walked into the back with her, we were taken back to a white room with one of those little bed things and I sat down on it ‘what are you here for?’ ‘well I'm pregnant, we were just scheduling our first sonogram I guess’ I said and she nodded then wrote something down

‘ok, if you could just lay back and pull your shirt up then I can start the exam’ she said and I nodded and did so, I looked over at Zack and he looked a little nervous so I ran my fingertips over his face softly and he smiled down at me. ‘I love you’ ‘I love you to Lex’ he whispered and kissed my forehead, I smiled and looked back at the nurse as she was putting the very cold gel on my tummy

‘ok, are you ready?’ she asked and we nodded as she started moving the little thing around, I heard something humming kinda and I looked closer at the screen ‘what’s that noise?’ Zack asked as he gripped my hand a little more ‘that’s the heart beat’ the nurse said and turned the screen to us, she pointed out where our baby was and I just couldn’t believe there was actually something inside me ‘oh my god’ Zack whispered and I looked over at him, his eyes were watering so I leaned up and kissed him, he kissed back then smiled at me ‘we won’t be able to know the sex until you're about four months’ ‘what am I now?’ ‘you're only a month, your due date should be about November 24th’ ‘ok, are we done?’

‘yeah let me just go print out you're pictures, I’ll be right back’ she said and we nodded as I wiped the gel off of myself then sat up. I looked over at Zack and he was leaning against the counter smiling at me ‘what?’ ‘nothing, you're just so beautiful’ he said and I blushed a little and looked down as the nurse walked in with our pictures. ‘here you go, and schedule an appointment for next month’ she said as she handed me the pictures, I nodded and thanked her then we walked out and made another appointment.

‘Zackyyyyyyyyyy’ I whined while we were on the way home, he chuckled and looked over at me ‘yes?’ ‘can we get Arby’s on the way home?’ ‘of course baby’ he smiled so I leaned over and kissed his cheek ‘I love you!’ ‘I love you to!’ he said and I giggled and sat back in my seat, Zack and I were talking about what we thought the baby might be, picking colors for the wedding, just normal stuff. As we were crossing the highway I looked over and saw something I never wanted to ‘ZACK GO FA-‘ I tried yelling but an 18 wheeler slammed into us on my side and that’s all I remember.

::Zack’s POV::

‘ZACK GO FA-‘ was all I heard before I heard squealing, I looked over at Lex and saw the semi rushing towards us then I heard the crunch and felt the impact of the hit and was knocked out for a bit. When I woke up I groaned and looked over at Lex, she was still knocked out, her head was bleeding a little and her legs were trapped under the glove box ‘Lex?’ I whispered but she didn’t move, ‘sir! Sir! Can you hear me?’ I heard next to me and I looked out my window and saw a firefighter, a cop and a EMT ‘can you open your door?’ the firefighter asked, I looked down and saw that my arm was pinned against the door ‘no my arms pinned against the door’ I said a little loudly, he nodded and looked around and yelled something’s

‘I'm gonna break the window so we can talk better ok?’ he said and I nodded as I looked away and closed my eyes. The window shattered and I could hear everything going on outside, people were yelling, ordering other people to do things, ‘sir?’ I looked over at the firefighter as he spoke ‘do you think you have any other injuries?’ ‘no just my arm but my girlfriend is pregnant’ I said and he nodded then looked over at her, he motioned some of the others over and I heard their conversation ‘we have to get in the back and put a neck brace on her,

then were going to have to cut the door and roof off and try to unpin her legs’ he said and that’s when I started to get scared, I've been in an accident before but nothing this bad and Lex has never been in one ‘Zacky?’ I heard being whispered and I looked over to see Lex with her eyes barely open ‘Lex baby, don’t move ok?’ I said and she nodded, I looked over at the guys still talking ‘hey!’ I yelled and they looked down at me ‘she just woke up’ I said and two of them rushed over to her, the other one stayed with me

‘I'm gonna have to cut your door off to so I can unpin your arm ok?’ he said and I nodded, he called over the jaws of life and told me to look away so I looked over at Lex and she was crying ‘it’s ok baby’ ‘it hurts’ ‘I know baby, we’ll be at the hospital soon ok?’ I said and she nodded and reached over for my hand. I laced my fingers with her and pulled her hand up to kiss her knuckles softly ‘I love you’ I whispered and she looked up at me with tears rolling down her face

‘I love you to Zack’ she whispered then tightened her grip on my hand ‘ok sir, were going to lift the door off now, just let your arm do what it wants’ he said and I nodded and watched them take the door off my car and my arm just kinda stayed the way it was, it was bruised and I knew it was broken but right now I couldn’t feel it, I was trying to focus on Lex ‘well, it’s broken. I'm gonna go get you a splint and I’ll be back’ the EMT said, I nodded and looked back over at Lex as they finished cutting the other door and the roof off of my car

‘Zacky my legs hurt’ ‘I know baby, there pinned against the glove box’ I said and she nodded then looked down to see ‘miss, I need you to keep your head straight so I can put this neck brace on you ok?’ another EMT asked and Lex nodded as he got in the back seat and slipped the brace carefully around her. ‘here we are’ my EMT said and he grabbed my wrist gently but I still flinched ‘sorry, it’ll hurt a bit as I'm putting the brace on just because I have to move your arm around’ he said and I nodded then looked back at Lex, she was answering the EMT’s questions ‘how far along are you?’ ‘only a month, we just had our first appointment’ she said and he nodded then looked over at me with something in his eyes but I didn’t know what to make of it ‘ok were going to cut this part out so you can move your legs ok?’ he said and she nodded,

I gripped her hand tighter and she looked over at me ‘it’ll be ok, I promise’ I whispered and she nodded the best she could as they started cutting through the glove box ‘THAT’S MY FUCKING BROTHER YOU FUCKING PRICK!’ I heard being yelled and I looked over and saw Matt fighting with the cops that were trying to keep people away from the accident ‘MATT!’ I yelled and he looked over at me, ‘sir, please tell him to let that man through, please’ I begged and he looked over then nodded and walked away.

Matt ran back over with the EMT and kneeled next to me ‘god Zack what happened?’ he asked softly and I looked over at him ‘semi hit us’ I said and his eyes got wide ‘is Lex ok?’ ‘she’s awake and talking, their trying to get her legs unpinned’ I said and he looked over and saw that Lex had on a neck brace and that they cut off both our doors and the roof ‘god Zack, what hospital are you guys going to?’ ‘whatever one is closest, we have to get them there quick though,

I don’t know if she broke anything and being pregnant were risking the baby’ the EMT said and we both nodded ‘go call everyone and we’ll meet you there’ I said and Matt nodded but didn’t move ‘you have to go Matt, we’ll be ok, I swear you're not gonna lose me’ I said and he nodded then ran away and back to his car I guess.

::Electra’s POV::

I finally felt the pressure being lifted off my legs and I whimpered a bit because it hurt so bad ‘ok miss, were gonna lay the seat back and slip the back bored under you’ ‘ok, then were going to the hospital?’ ‘yes, and your boyfriend is going to be in the same ambulance as you so don’t worry about that ok?’ he said and I nodded then looked over at Zack, he was looking at me already ‘I love you Zack’ ‘I love you to baby, I'm gonna get out of the car and I’ll be waiting for you in the ambulance ok?’ he said and I nodded as they put the seat down and started to roll me onto the back bored.

As they strapped me in I rested my hands on my tummy and rubbed my thumb over my little bump, I felt them pushing me to the ambulance then lifting me up into it, I looked over a little and saw Zack sitting on the little bench thing ‘Zack?’ ‘yes sweetheart?’ ‘is our baby gonna be ok?’ I whispered and he didn’t say anything for a bit but then he nodded ‘it’s going to be fine Lex, don’t worry ok?’ he whispered in my ear, I nodded and we started driving away with lights and sirens.
