*~*Kamalei's POV*~*

I bounced up and down on my heels as I waited for Jimmy to come out of Zacky's room after helping him get dressed. I insisted that I could help Zacky but Matt, of course, wasn't having any of it. Jimmy finally emerged, Zacky following behind him, his discharge papers in hand as he wobbled and caught himself on the door frame.

Shaking his head a little, “Fuck.” he said as I went over and wrapped his arm around my shoulders to help stabilize him.

“Maybe you should stay overnight Zee?” I suggested to him receiving a quick turn of his head.

“No. I'm fine. I just should take it easy until the show. We have a whole day of driving to do so there's plenty of time.” He responded, “I fucking hate hospitals.”

“I do too... trust me it's not like I have great memories from my last visit, but maybe it’s a good idea.” I responded.

“Why? Bailing out on best friend duties already?” he teased.

“No... but you have to promise me that you will take it easy. FOR REAL.” I said holding out a pinky.

He linked his with mine, “I promise I will but only if you take it easy with me.”

“Deal.” I said as we shook pinkies.

We made our way to the front of the hospital, Matt having called a big enough taxi for all of us this time, piled in and made our way back to the bus. Brian helped Zacky out of the taxi and into the bus, dropping him down on the couch. Everyone else mumbling their goodnights and heading to their bunks after a long, exhausting day.

“Why don't you sleep out here? We could make a bed like we did the first night I was here...” I said happily.

“Don't you mean WE sleep out here?” Zacky asked as I walked to the bunks grabbing our pillows and blankets.

“No, just you get to sleep. I have to make sure you're okay.” I answered letting a yawn slip out as I tossed the pillows and blankets on the floor by his feet.

“Lei, you're tired. I know you are.” Zacky said reaching out and grabbing my hand as I started to make the bed.

“I'm fine Zee. I sleep all day.” I replied, another yawn escaping me.

“No you don't. I know you don't. When's the last time you slept more than 3 hours at a time?” He asked me seriously.

“All the time.” I lied as I went to the back and changed out of my blood covered shirt and shorts.

“No you don't. You sleep in naps so that you don't dream. I know you haven't been sleeping Lei. All that makeup you hide under every morning, I know all about it.” He said, exposing my secrets.

“Ok, I don't… I'm scared to. It's not like at home. I don't have anyone to go to sleep with me.” I said feeling ashamed and childish.

“Well, you and I are going to sleep tonight.” Zacky said sliding down onto the bed I had constructed, “Now find us our favorite movie and bring your ass back here so we can relax and you can get some sleep.”

“I know you're tired too.” I told him as I put Return of the Living Dead in, “You don't sleep as much either.”

“No I don't. I was up worrying about a little miss emotional nightmare. I had to drink myself stupid to get any sleep really.” He said opening up the blanket and letting me slip inside.

“I'm sorry...” I said as I curled up next to him.

“No, I'm sorry...” he said as he pulled me closer, wrapping an arm around me, “Come here, I need to know you're here and you need to know I'm here if we are going to get any sleep.”

“I missed you Zee.” I said as I got closer, laying my head on his chest.

“I missed you too Lei. Now you just go to sleep. I'll be fine.” He said softly stroking my hair.

“But Zee... I have to stay up...” I mumbled as another yawn came over me.

“I'll be fine. Just get some sleep my Lei girl...” He interjected, kissing the top of my head before continuing to watch the movie.

His fingers danced softly against my arm soothing me into a deeper form of relaxation. One I hadn't felt in a long time and welcomed. I took a deep breath, smelling his scent and smiled as I traced circles around his necklace pendants underneath his T-shirt.

“You’re supposed to be going to sleep Lei.” He whispered quietly, wrapping his hand around mine to make me stop.

“I’m worried though.”

“Why?”

“Because what if in the morning you don’t wake up again? And I’m the one who’s supposed to be watching you.” I replied looking up at him.

“Don’t worry so much. It’ll be fine.” He said tucking some of my hair behind my ear, “Come on now… Let’s both get some sleep. I’m turning this off.”

He reached over for the remote, clicking off the TV screen and pulling the blanket up around me. He wrapped both his arms around me as I resumed my comfortable spot on his chest, feeling the soft rise and fall of his breathing.

“Goodnight Zee.”

“Goodnight Lei.” He said snuggling me closer to him.

I laid there on him and listened to him quietly fall asleep, soft snores coming from him letting me know that he was really asleep. The sick feeling I had from worrying about him finally was dissipating. I shifted a little to make myself more comfortable and felt him grip on tighter to me. I gently rubbed circles on his chest as I felt my eyes get heavy.

He’s here. He’s back. He’s okay. We’re okay…Oh Zacky boy… I missed you so much…

*~*Brian’s POV*~*

A rough bump on the road stirred me from my sleep, and I carefully slipped out from under Kelly to go get something to drink. I padded out to the kitchen area, looking over to see a snoring Zacky and sleeping Kamalei curled up on the floor. I’m not one to be mushy but they did look stupidly cute together, like they belonged together.

Another bump caused me to lose my balance and I caught myself on the table nearby, thankful that I didn’t open the fridge yet. A strangled moan caught my attention from the two sleeping on the floor. Kamalei started breathing heavier in her sleep and grabbed a handful of Zacky’s shirt in her hand, twisting and pulling at it as she made the noises again. Zacky had stopped snoring at her assault on his shirt, grabbing her hand with his and stroking her hair softly.

“Shh… It’s okay… I’m right here.” Zacky mumbled quietly to her.

Her eyes fluttered open for a minute, looking up at him before a smile crept on her face and she snuggled back into him.

“Don’t go anywhere Zacky boy…” she muttered, releasing the tight grip on his shirt.

“I won’t. I’ll be right here.” He said softly before falling back asleep.

I quietly grabbed a water from the fridge and tip-toed back to my bunk, sliding in next to Kelly. I stared at the ceiling of my bunk thinking about Zacky and Lei. They really needed each other. Neither of them was functioning properly the past few weeks while they were ignoring each other. Then leave it to Matt to injure Zacky and cause Kamalei to fully forgive him. If I had known an accidental blow to the back of Zee’s head was all it took to end the awkwardness, I would’ve done it myself weeks ago.

Kelly shifted in the bunk, curling more into my side. I wrapped my arm around her, holding her close to my chest as I thought about us. I loved Kelly and would do anything for her and I felt confident in thinking the same from her. She moved into my house and left everything behind to be with me. I honestly wasn’t sure if she only agreed to move because Kamalei was going to, but either way I was happy that she was with me.

“Brian? Are you up?” Kelly whispered.

“Yeah, sorry baby. Go back to sleep.” I murmured quietly as I snuggled into her and fell asleep.

~~~~~Later~~~~~~

I rolled over in my bunk, grabbing at blankets looking for my girlfriend, whom I swore was right here next to me. Not finding her I peered out from my bunk to see if she was in the living area, but again nothing. I got up quietly, no one else being up yet except for Matt Berry taking his shift at driving, and wandered over to see Kamalei and Zacky still asleep in the front of the bus. Suddenly I heard a wretching sound coming from the bathroom.

“Kelly? You alright baby?” I knocked quietly.

She opened the door before turning back around and puking more into the toilet. Instinctively I grabbed her hair and rubbed small circles on her back as she emptied the contents of her stomach. As I helped her I thought back to last night and realized that she didn’t drink much.

“Thanks babe… Sorry…” She said wiping her mouth on a towel, “Must have been something from last night…”

“You alright? You want me to get you some medicine or something?” I asked her as I went and got her a bottle of water from the fridge.

“No, I’ll be fine Brian. Thank you.” She said as she took a seat at the table.

I sat down across from her, following her gaze on the sleeping Zacky and Kamalei.

“They’re so cute. I wish they would just date already…” Kelly said quietly, “Zacky would be so much better for her than Micah ever was.”

I nodded, “I think they need each other. Gena really did a number on him and Lei is the kind of girl to make him forget Gena ever existed. He needs that as much as she needs him to forget Micah ever existed.”

I looked back at Kelly and met her dark chocolate eyes, smiling as I held her free hand in mine. I kissed her knuckles when she suddenly threw her hand over her mouth and darted back to the bathroom. The sound of dry heaving followed the small amount of water that she threw up as I made a cold washcloth to put on her forehead.

“Come baby, let’s get you back in bed… if you don’t feel better than I’m not letting you work the booth tomorrow.” I said ushering her to the bunks, lifting her up and putting her inside.

“But Brian, I have to work… It’s not fair to the girls…” She rambled on quietly as I pressed my finger to her lips.

“Shh… don’t worry about it. Just get some rest. I’ll be back in a little bit.” I told her as I went into the bathroom.

I cleaned up any spots of vomit on the floor, knowing the smell would make Matt into a very angry person first thing in the morning. I searched the counter tops of the living area for a cigarette, finally finding one and putting it between my lips. I took a seat at the table and cracked open the window to the bus, lighting up the smoke and exhaling it out the window.

“Hey, got another one of those?” A raspy voice cracked from in front of me.

“Yeah, there’s one around here somewhere… come join me.” I said getting up from my seat and finding another smoke for Zacky.

He carefully slipped out from under Kamalei, placing a pillow in his place, and sat opposite me at the table, cracking the other window open. The air outside was warm and smelled fresh as it blew thru the bus.

“So, how you feelin?” I asked as Zacky rubbed his eyes roughly.

“Better. Much better now that I got some real sleep.” He answered and I noticed the dark circles under his eyes for the first time.

“Were you not sleeping bro?”

“Not really since we started tour… I just couldn’t get to sleep.” He said taking another drag.

“Too much on your mind?” I asked concerned for my friend’s well-being.

“Something like that… mostly her.” He nodded to Kamalei’s sleeping form on the floor.

“What do you mean?” I probed.

“I was worried about her. I was scared sick she would do something to herself. I was scared something would happen to her if no one was paying attention.” He said and I could see the glassy look in his eyes as he wiped away the water threatening to spill over.

“You really care about her don’t you?”

“I do Brian. I think I’m in love with her.”

I chuckled lightly, “You have been for a long time buddy.”

“Is it that obvious?”

“Yes captain. It couldn’t be any more obvious.” I answered clapping him lightly on the shoulder, “I’m glad you guys made up though. Watching the two of you be miserable was making me miserable… I think even Jimmy was sad and that takes a lot to make Jimmy sad.”

“I know. I’m glad that’s over too. I missed her so much Brian.”

“She missed you too.” I said as we both looked over to Kamalei as she started to wake up, “You better get over there…”

Zacky got up from the table, tossing the end of his cigarette out the window, and replaced the pillow with his body.

“Zee… did you smoke a cigarette?” Kamalei’s tiny voice asked him.

“Yes, little sunshine. I went only right there at the table though. I didn’t go far.” He said softly stroking her hair.

“Okay Zacky boy…” she replied tiredly looking up at him.

“Did you sleep good?” He asked her.

“Yeah. How are you feeling?” She questioned, sitting up suddenly and putting a hand on Zacky’s forehead, finally noticing I was sitting there, “Oh, Good morning Brian.”

“Good morning Lei… I think Kelly might be sick so just watch out. She was throwing up this morning…” I said tossing the end of my cigarette out the window and closing it.

“You’re a little warm Zee…” Kamalei said turning her attention back to Zacky, “Does your head still hurt?”

“No it’s fine Lei…” he said brushing her hand away as she grabbed his head and pulled it down so she could see the stitches.

“Let me see these… Gotta make sure you didn’t rip any out on accident last night.” She said examining him.

“Lei… I’m fine…” Zacky whined as Lei searched for anything wrong.

“Zacky, I’m in charge of you remember? I have to make sure you are okay… Let me do what I’m supposed to do.” She said letting go of his head and grabbing his wrist, I imagine checking his heart rate.

“Brian, help me out here?” Zacky called over to me.

“Nope… you wanted her to be your babysitter… I’m going back to bed. My girlfriend needs me.” I said getting up from the table and wandering back towards the bunks.

“Please Brian… Please help me…” Zacky begged playfully.

“Shut up Zee… I’m not doing anything to you but making sure you’re okay… quit your whining…” Lei said as I climbed into my bunk next to a sleeping Kelly.
