Ch. 33- J is for Jealousy and Jackass
*~*Kamalei’s POV*~*
We had a great time down at the beach, running out of beers we decided to head back up to our cabins. I had gone into the bedroom to get my clothes from my bag for a shower when Zacky came in with nothing but a towel around his waist. I caught myself staring for a moment before blushing and turning away.
“Hey, shower is all yours.” He said looking for clothes in his bag.
“Did you want the top bunk or the bottom one?” I asked him as I rifled thru my bag.
“Whichever one you don’t want. Are you going to even sleep in your own anyways?” he teased.
“Probably not.” I giggled, “Actually, if I remember right, I think you can take these top ones off.”
Zacky set the clothes he had fished out down on the bed and helped me lift the top bunk off the bottom one. We set it down on the ground next to the others.
“Awesome.” He said.
“Right? Ooooo. I have a good idea for later.” I smirked.
“I like your ideas.” He winked at me.
“Mr. Baker are you being dirty over there in just your towel?” I joked.
I could hear Matt run in the cabin from outside, “What’s going on in here?”
I just laughed at his out of breath expression, “Matt you are so paranoid and nosy.”
“Look Lei you’re already getting me in more trouble and the night hasn’t even started yet.” Zacky laughed as he slipped his shorts on under his towel.
Matt just walked away defeated that he didn’t really have anything to say or defend. I grabbed my clothes and went off to the shower.
When I got out of the shower everyone was outside on the patio drinking. I grabbed a beer out of the cooler and sat down next to Jimmy on the bench of the picnic table.
“Mmmmm. You smell delicious little one. I could just eat you up.” He said smelling my hair and nibbling on my shoulder.
I giggled as I pushed him away, “Jimmy stop it. It tickles.”
I looked up and caught Zacky staring at us as he talked to my brother and Val. He looked a little upset but I brushed it off as something my brother probably said to him while I was in the shower. I picked up on a conversation with Jimmy, Kelly, Johnny, and Brian but couldn’t shake the feeling of Zacky’s eyes watching me. I scooted closer to Jimmy on the bench because of the uneasy feeling, Jimmy putting an arm around my shoulders.
“My little Lei-Lei are you having a good time?” he asked me.
“I am big brother Jimmy. I could use another beer though.” I said as he jumped up and got me another beer.
When he brought it back I noticed Zacky was gone from where he had been chatting with Matt and Val. I figured he had gone to the bathroom as I continued my conversation with everyone.
*~*Zacky’s POV*~*
I was having such a good day with Kamalei. That is until Jimmy started flirting with her. Watching him flirt with her made me so angry I couldn’t just stand there anymore. I made my way back in the cabin and into the bedroom, digging thru my bag looking for what I had saved up for this occasion. I shoved the small bag into my wallet and padded off to the bathroom with my beer in hand.
I locked the door in the bathroom pulling the small bag from my wallet and setting it on the counter. I grabbed 2 cards out of my wallet and poured some of the powder onto one of the cards while making 2 lines with the other. I grabbed a dollar bill from my wallet and rolled it pretty tightly.
I shouldn’t be doing this but this is the only way I’ll feel better. Fucking Jimmy is pissing me off. How can he do that to me right in front of my face?! He knows how I fucking feel about her. Fuck it.
I snorted the first line quickly, tipping my head back and sniffing hard before repeating the action with the other line and nostril. I could taste the cocaine drip down my throat and welcomed the feeling it brought. I licked my finger before wiping off the cards and rubbing it on my gums. I instantly felt better as I sealed the bag and put the cards and dollar bill away. I checked my nose in the mirror making sure I left no evidence, knowing Matt would kill me if he found out I was using around his sister. I flushed the toilet and turned the light off as I walked out.
I threw my empty beer bottle in the trash and headed back outside to the rest of the party.
“There you are my Zacky boy!” Kamalei said as she jumped in my arms, wrapping hers around my neck.
“Hey. I just went to the bathroom Lei.” I said as I hugged her around the waist.
“Oh. Well do you want to help me make a fire?” she asked.
“Yeah sure. Go find the lighter and I’ll get some wood.” I replied.
“Yeah I bet you will!” Brian laughed mockingly.
“Oh fuck off Syn!” I answered him with a middle finger.
As I went to get the firewood I could feel the full effects of the drugs in my system and smiled to myself at how good I felt. The fact that Kamalei was with me, made this even better. She came up behind me picking up some of the smaller pieces.
“Let me get it Lei. I don’t want you to get hurt.” I told her.
“Zack? Is everything okay?” she asked me as I took the pieces from her.
“Yeah. Why?”
“You looked upset. Did my brother bother you again? I thought he was finally accepting our friendship.” She replied sadly.
“No, it’s all good ok my Lei girl.” I smiled at her reassuringly.
“You sure?”
“Yes. Now go figure out where you want this fire.” I said.
We made the fire just off the side of the patio of the cabin we were in. Everyone brought the chairs and even the picnic table down to by the fire so we could have a camping experience. The girls had gone into the house to prepare the food to cook on the nearby grill for dinner as all the guys sat around drinking and joking. Brian had started up the grill by the time Kelly brought out a plate of food for him to start cooking.
Kamalei came out and made her way over to sit by Jimmy again even though there was an empty spot by me. I instantly got irritated again and decided while everyone was busy to hit the bathroom again. I set my beer down on the edge of the patio as I went in the cabin.
Val was making another dish on the counter when I passed her and made my way to the bathroom. After doing another 2 lines I felt better again and decided to reenter the group. I grabbed my beer off the ledge and made my way back to my chair. Jimmy and Kamalei were still talking and I felt the urge to talk to Jimmy now.
“Hey Jimmy let me talk to you real quick?” I walked up to him and said.
“Sure Zee. I’ll be right back Lei-Lei.” He said smiling down at her.
We walked down the trail away from the cabins before I said anything.
“What are you doing man?” I asked him.
“Uh… talking to Lei. Why?” he asked confused.
“You know I like her. Why are you flirting with her? That’s just cold man.” I replied.
“Dude. I am not flirting with her.” He said putting his arms up, “If that’s what it looks like, I’m sorry. I’m not like that Zee. You know that. I know you want her, I’m not trying to stop that at all. I honestly want you and her to get together already.”
“For real?” I said instantly feeling like a jackass.
“Yeah man. I’m on your side bro.” he said putting a hand on my shoulder.
“Sorry Jimmy. I’m being a jackass.” I apologized.
“It’s ok. Let’s go. You go talk to her.” Jimmy said as we walked back.
I took his seat next to her and joined in the group’s conversation. It was almost completely dark out by the time Brian was done cooking and we all joked and chatted as we ate by the fire. I looked up to the sky and realized how dark the sky really was here. I remembered when we were at Kelly’s house you could see the stars but here in Hana, you could see ALL of the stars.
There was no streetlights or big buildings to light up the sky. It was really amazing.
“You can see all of them? You won’t get that in California.” Kamalei leaned over and said to me.
“It’s so clear out too. It’s pretty awesome.” I replied.
“We gonna go to the caves tonight? I think we are all too drunk to go on our mission tonight.” She asked me.
“I’m down when you are. You’re my tour guide. Guide me.” I said waving my hand in front of me.
She laughed shaking her head, “Maybe after everyone else is done eating and I have another beer.”
I stood taking her empty plate and beer bottle, tossing it in the trash grabbing her and I another beer from the cooler. I made my way back to my seat next to her, handing her a beer.
“Thank you kind sir.” She said clinking her beer against mine.
“You’re very welcome madam.” I said leaning back relaxing.
