Unholy Confessions & Profound Bounds

Chapter Fifteen

Hannah

I couldn’t believe that we were going to be living in the Men of Letters bunker.

Even if we were only here for a little while, it was still exciting. I’d heard about this place before,
when I was a kid, but I never imagined that I could ever be here. I was going to have access to the
best library I’d ever seen, and I doubted that I would ever be bored.

I had wanted to set myself up in the library with one of the thousands of books for a while, but Erin
suggested that we find our rooms and start to settle in, so I grabbed my bags and walked with her
through the corridors until we reached the bedrooms and chose two of the spares. Just across the
hall from one another.

I dumped my bags on the bed and looked around the room at all of the free space I had before deciding that I should probably start unpacking.

Ten minutes later I had already unpacked all of my clothes and I was in the middle of putting up my
pictures on the wall above my bed, but I was startled when there was a knock on the door. I jumped
off of the bed and turned around to see Castiel standing in the open doorway.

“Cas!” I smiled widely, greeting him “Come on in!”

He smiled softly at me and stepped into the room, but something wasn’t so genuine about him this
time. I could see it in his eyes and the way his smile wasn’t as bright as it normally is and I knew
that something was wrong.

“Is everything alright?” I asked, taking a step closer to him. He took one closer to me, too, and
placed his hand on my arm.

“I think we should sit down to talk,” He insisted, sitting us both down on the edge of the bed.

“What’s the matter?” I asked with a frown. My concern was growing and I could feel myself starting
to panic as thoughts of what might be happening rushed through my head.

“Dean and I,” He started, letting go of my arm to place his lap “We’re going to follow up some leads
in the next state,”

“Great,” I smiled, jumping to my feet to stand in front of him “Just give me five minutes and I’ll be
ready to go,”

“That’s the thing,” He said, standing up slowly so that we were face to… almost face, he was a bit
taller than me so I had to look up at him now because he was standing so close “We’re going alone,
and we’re leaving the two of you here,”

He had to be kidding. They were supposed to be letting us in on all of this, they even got us tattoos
and moved us into the safest place on earth so there was no point in Castiel and Dean backing out
now.

“Why?” I asked, taking half a step back from him “Why aren’t you taking us with you?”

“It’s safer for you and Erin to stay here while we check things out first,” He sighed “Once we know
what’s going on exactly, we might be able to bring the two of you into play, but this all has to do with
the witches and I think that they’re following the two of you, so you would be much safer to stay
here,”

“What can I do to convince you to stay?” I asked, biting my bottom lip with uncertainty.

“Nothing you say or do can change my mind, Hannah.” He said firmly “You and Erin will stay here
and do as you please, but you must stay in the safety of the bunker.”

My body seemed to be acting on its own accord and I moved against Castiel before either of us
could think and I crashed my lips against his… but he didn’t kiss back. Our lips were pressed
together, but neither of us were moving our lips in a kiss, and with every passing millisecond, it grew
more and more awkward in the room. So, I quickly removed myself from him and wiped my lips with
the back of my hand.

“Go,” I whispered “Go do whatever it is that you have to do, and I’m sure we’ll still be here when you
get back.”

Wordlessly, Cas walked back over to the door before turning back to look at me with a small smile
pulling at his lips.

“When I get back… we’re going to do that properly.”

Erin and I were sitting in the diner that we found at the edge of town, sitting together and drinking our
coffees.

“Well, this town is small and not very interesting,” Erin pointed out, and I nodded while I took a drink of my coffee.

“Although, the quiet is kind of nice after everything,” I pointed out “Izzy would be telling us to go out and find the craziest places… sometimes I wonder where we would be with her if we didn’t fall into this,”

“So, you’re into Cas, right?” She asked, avoiding the statement I just made and I had to laugh.

“Wow, nice avoidance you’ve got going there,” I chuckled, taking another sip of coffee.

“Of course the lass is into him,” I heard a familiar, sickening English accent say.

“And what might you want?” I asked calmly.

“Well, that’s not a very night way of welcoming me into your life,” Crowley said and Erin scoffed,
waving down he waitress for more coffee.

“Just pipe down or go the hell away, Crowley.” Erin said.

Crowley grabbed a char and turned it backwards so that he could straddle it instead of sitting
normally.

“Ah, well, I was here to talk about your bestie, but I guess you’d rather just pick a fight,” Crowley
said with a smirk, making us both turn in our seats so that we could look at him properly, but the
sight of his smug little face only made me angrier.

As a pure-blood Scottish girl, it was in me to hate the English.

“You have our attention,” Erin told him, making him smirk more smugly.

“Well, she has a mouth on her,” He said “I’ve contemplated muzzling it,” He added, glaring at us as
his smirk faded.

“Why don’t we just muzzle you?” Erin asked rhetorically. I looked at her and then back to Crowley

while Erin turned back to the counter. She knew that I was about to tear him a new one and that it
was best if she stayed out of it and kept herself quiet.

“What’s your problem, Crowley?” I asked.

“I’m the King of Hell, love.”

“I get that, but why did you have to target us?” I asked “Why did you have to take Izzy?”

“Something had me drawn to you girls,” He started, leaning closer and looking deep into my eyes as
though he was trying to look right through me “I’ve known about the three of you for some time now,
and I wanted to get to you… so, when I realised that dear little Izzy was alone with that boy, Jimmy,
I decided that it was the perfect moment to strike and take exactly what I wanted until-“

“That’s enough out of you, you stupid English cunt!” I snapped, slamming my fist down on the
counter next to me. I saw Erin jump out of the corner of my eye, but I was too angry to pay any
attention to anything but Crowley.

“I’m not English, darling.” He chuckled.

“But-“

“Once I became a demon and decided to possess some poor bastard, I slipped into an unfortunate
meat suit with an English accent, but what can you do?” He shrugged.

“Whatever,” I rolled my eyes “What do we have to do to get them back?”

“I could tell you, but what would be the fun in that?” He smirked.

I was out of my seat the second the words left his mouth, and I was standing directly in front of him
with his tie fisted in my hand and I was pulling him up out of his seat.

“The first time we meet, you punch me in the face…” He struggled, choking with how tightly I was
holding his tie “Now you’re choking me,”

“You’re pissing me off,” I growled in his face “You’re going to give us the information we want, or
you’re going to give us Izzy and Jimmy,”

“Excuse me!”

I turned around to see a waitress staring at me with an angry expression on her face as she looked
between Crowley and I.

“I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” She continued “Now,”

I released Crowley harshly and stepped away from him with my hands up in defence, but I was still
watching him closely.

“Come on,” Erin muttered, slipping off of her stool and grabbing onto my arm “We better get back to
the bunker,”

I let her lead me away from Crowley and out of the diner. We were halfway back through town and well on our way back to the diner when Erin finally spoke to me.

“I get that Crowley’s a dick,” She started “He makes my blood boil, too, but what is it about him that
gets to you so much?”

“I have no idea,” I sighed, rubbing my hands down my face “I just can’t stand the guy,”

“Ladies,”

We both turned around and came face to face with Crowley for the second time today.

“What do you want now?” Erin asked.

“I heard you girls talking about me, and what you were saying wasn’t very nice,” He pouted
sarcastically.

“Fuck you, Crowley.” I snapped “Cry me a fucking river,”

“Hannah,” He hummed, stepping closer to me “You wanted some information out of me, so I thought
that I would give you some… but I’ll admit that it’s something you didn’t know you wanted,”

His hand moved my hair away from my ear and he leaned in close so that he could whisper in my
ear.

Castiel
I had tried calling and texting Hannah, but she wasn’t answering me. I thought about going back to the bunker to check in on her, but I decided against it in case I only made her angrier with me.

Luckily, the lead in the other town only took a few hours to follow up and we were headed back to
Lebanon in the late evening. Apparently we were right, and the chatter was of the witches, who were
looking for the girls, but the women we spoke to were very kind and helpful and they warned us of
the whereabouts of the witches who had cursed the girls the night before and they told us of their
plans.

Dean had decided that he was hungry once we were only a few miles from the bunker, so he
stopped off to buy some fast food – burgers and such, and he got some for Hannah and Erin, too.

Less than half an hour later, we were back at the bunker.

“We’re home!” Dean called out happily enough as we descended the stairs.

We walked into the central area and found Erin sitting at one of the long tables with her laptop in
front of her and she hadn’t noticed us yet because she had a large pair of headphones on her head
and she was nodding her head along with the music that she was listening to. Once we walked
closer to her, however, she finally noticed that we had arrived and she slipped the headphones off of
her head and smiled at us both. It looked like she had calmed down enough since we left.

“Hey,” She greeted us, closing her laptop over “Is everything alright?”

“Everything is fine,” Dean smiled at her, dumping the takeout bag on the table in front of her “We’ll fill
you girls in over burgers,”

“Alright,” She nodded before looking back up at me “Hannah’s in her bedroom, you wanna go and
get her?”

“Is she alright?” I asked, finding it odd that Hannah would willingly be on her own instead of with Erin
since the two of them seemed to be rather co-dependant on one another.

“…Not really,” She hesitated “Something happened earlier, and I’ll tell you if you both promise not to
get mad at us,”

“I’m not going to make a promise that I can’t keep,” Dean sighed, folding his arms across his chest
and holding his head higher “But I’ll try to keep my cool,”

“Alright,” She sighed and ran a hang through her hair “We were mad at the two of you earlier on
when you left us here alone, so we decided to go out and venture around town for a while,”

I honestly wasn’t all that surprised by the news, but I nodded along with her words anyway and she
continued.

“We wound up in a nice little diner where we drank coffee and just… talked, we talked about the way
things might have been today if we hadn’t met you guys and if Izzy hadn’t been taken from us, and
then he turned up,”

Dean went rigid and I felt myself tense up, too.

“Who turned up?” Dean asked slowly.
“Crowley,” We both opened our mouths to speak, but she continued anyway and we both snapped
out mouths shut “He was talking shit about Izzy and the things that he was doing to her, so we were
getting pretty worked up, but Hannah decided to take matters into her own hands and she had him
clambering to his feet by his tie,” Dean and I let out little laughs at that “We got thrown out of the
diner, and when we were halfway back here, Crowley turned up again and he whispered something
to Hannah and she just hasn’t been the same since,”

Immediately, I left Erin and Dean alone and found myself standing outside of Hannah’s bedroom, on
the outside of the closed door. I could hear Hannah singing, so I knocked on the door and called her
name but I didn’t get a response, so I slowly opened the door and stepped inside.

Hannah was sitting on the middle of her bed with her legs folded underneath her, her phone in her
hand; she was singing to herself with her earphones in and was scrolling down the large screen of
her phone with her thumb. She had tear tracks down her cheeks and her eyes were reddened.

“Hannah?”

She jumped a little and snapped her head up to look at me before tugging the buds out of her ears and placing her phone down on the bed in front of her.

“May I come in?” I asked.

“Sure,” She sniffed, quickly wiping at her eyes while moving over on her bed slightly and offering me
the space that she had just created.

I sat down next to her and stayed silent for a few moments while she leaned over and rested her
head on my shoulder.
“How did my life become so fucked up?” She asked me. I couldn’t tell if she was asking me

rhetorically or if she really wanted an answer, so I stayed quiet “If we had just stayed in the hotel that night then everything would be fine, I wouldn’t be here, Izzy wouldn’t be in Hell and we would all
be safe and happy together,”

“Erin told Dean and I what happened today,” I informed her “We’re not mad that the two of you left
the bunker, but I would like to know what Crowley told you when you were on your way back here
after the incident in the diner,”

“You’ll probably think very differently of me if I tell you,”

“Nothing you could tell me would make me think differently of you,”

She picked up her phone and tapped the screen a few times and took us back to a scanned picture
of some old documents with cursive writing all over it.

“I had my brother look this out of the attic at home,” She informed me “Luckily he was visiting our
parents, so he could do it right away for me,”

“What is this?” I asked, pointing to the screen.

“My mother’s family tree,” She answered me, glancing up at me with a small smile “It’s been in our
family for generations and is passed down to everyone on my mother’s side whenever they have
children of their own and it’s added to every single time,”
I looked closer and noticed that the writing was always slightly different with every new name that
had been added to it.

“This doesn’t explain very much, Hannah.”

“Alright, just… hang on,” She chuckled “I’ll explain it as well as I can,” I nodded and she continued “It
didn’t take much snooping around in this place to find out what Crowley’s name was before he died,”

“Fergus Roderick MacLeod,” I mused.

“Yeah,” She smiled weakly “Well, before my mum married my dad and changed her name to
Campbell… she was a MacLeod,”

A horrible feeling hit me right in my gut, and that was strange because it was such a human thing for
an angel, but I was hoping that she wasn’t going to tell me what I thought she was.

“According to this-“ She gestured to her phone “Before Gavin MacLeod died he fathered a son, and
for the next three-hundred or so years, every twenty years – more or less, another MacLeod son
was born until there was a daughter… my mother, in the nineteen-sixties,”

“So you’re…” I swallowed hard, unable to say it.

“I’m a sixteenth generation descendant of the King of Hell…”

Third Person

Castiel didn’t know what to think or what to say, he didn’t know what to do with the information Hannah had just given him.

Hannah’s mother was Crowley’s great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,
great, great, great, great, great granddaughter, and she had given birth to Hannah, making
Hannah and her brother the sixteenth generation of MacLeod’s on their mother’s side of the
family.

“Cas,” Hannah whispered “Please say something, you’re freaking me out,”

Castiel had already gotten off of the bed and had started pacing the room while he thought about
all of this. He had to admit to himself that he felt something deeper than companionship for
Hannah, and he had promised her that he wouldn’t think anything different of her for telling him.
Also, it didn’t mean that there was anything wrong or dangerous about Hannah or the rest of her
family because Crowley had been an ordinary man when he had died, he wasn’t always a
demon.

He turned around and realised that Hannah was standing directly behind him and he didn’t
hesitate to wrap his strong arms around her and pull her flush against him in a tight, welcoming
embrace.

“I’m sorry,” He apologized “I didn’t mean to scare you there,”

“It’s alright,” She exhaled into his chest “I know that it’s a lot to take in,”

“I’m sorry that you had to find out this way,” He murmured, dropping his head down so that he
could press his lips into the hair on the top of her head.

Hannah hummed contentedly when she felt him press a kiss on her head, and Castiel pulled
away from her so that he could look down into her eyes and she looked up into his, too. His
hand slipped from around her back and came up to cup her jaw gently while his tongue darted
out to wet his lips.

“Cas…”

“I told you,” He smiled at her, sliding his other hand around to settle on her waist “We were going
to do this right when I got back,”

Hannah’s breath caught in her throat and her eyes widened when Castiel’s eyes slipped shut
and he leaned in and gently touched his lips to hers. For a second, she didn’t respond because
she was too shocked by Castiel actually initiating a kiss, but she was soon letting her eyes
flutter closed and she was leaning into the kiss.

She reached up and tangled her long, thin fingers in his hair and pulled herself closer against him
and pushed up onto her tip-toes a little that the angel wasn’t as crouched down during the kiss.
His hand gripped her hipbone a little and she moaned into the kiss and Cas slipped his tongue
into her mouth as soon as her lips were parted and allowed their tongues to move with one
another.

After a few blissful minutes that felt like a few mind-blowing hours, they pulled away and looked
at one another with wild eyes and swollen lips- both of them breathing heavily.

“What?” Castiel asked with a smile, his voice no more than a low vibrating whisper.

“Why do I feel like you’re about to mess up my entire life?
