Brian looked at his watch with a sigh. Matt was late again. And it always had to be when he had to pick Brian up to go to the studio. Brian decided to just drive himself. Forget carpooling,he thought.

“Always fucking late when I need him.”

He grabbed his keys and opened the door. As he was getting in his car, Matt pulled up. Well look who we have here. He got out of the car and stomped over to Matt's car.

“What the fuck took you so long?”
“Sorry. I was at Ivy's place.”
Of fucking course he was, he grumbled in his head. He was obviously jealous.

Matt wasn't just a friend to Brian. He was more than that. Brian was totally head over heels for him, but unfortunately Matt didn't feel the same way. Or so Brian figured. Matt hadn't the slightest clue that Brian was in love with him and Matt, like most other guys, liked girls. Brian adored Matt. The dimples that formed on his cheeks when he smiled, his light hazel green eyes that sparkled in the light, the joyous sound of his laughter that always filled the room. All of that was beautiful to Brian. He wished Matt would know how he felt and that the feelings were mutual. Matt was the type of guy that was hard to read. You'd never know how he truly felt until he actually spoke up and admitted things. It pained Brian to no extent.

“Can we just go? I've been waiting.”
“No need to be so snappy.”
“Well if you weren't a half an hour late I wouldn't be so snappy, now would I?”

Matt looked over at Brian, his eyes filled with guilt. Brian let out a sigh, knowing he'd been defeated. He could never stay angry at Matt. Ever. It pained him to be mad, but sometimes he just couldn't control it. Sometimes Matt would go way too far.

“I'm sorry, okay? Can we please just go? I want this day to be over with.”
“Yeah we can go. Are you alright? You know you can tell me anything.”
“Sometimes, it's not that easy.”

Matt gave him a look, but Brian ignored it. Not today, he thought. Matt smiled at him before starting his car again and backing out of Brian's driveway.

“The others are already there. Becca and Tippi will be there too to support us and stuff.”

Brian smiled to himself. He knew Tippi was in the same boat as him. She was absolutely in love with Becca, but Becca didn't want a relationship after the passing of her boyfriend, Brian's best friend, Jimmy. It had been almost 4 years, but Becca was still heartbroken by it. She had no clue how Tippi felt even though they were the best of friends. They'd made out a few times in their drunken state, but those were just to have fun. If Tippi wanted to express her true feelings, she'd kiss Becca while they were both sober. Drunken kisses have no meaning to them at all. At least in some people's perspective.

“Ah good. It'll be nice to see them. It's been a while.”
“Yeah. I thought it'd be a good idea to invite them over. Catch up, ya know?”
“Yeah.”

They eventually pulled up to the recording studio and headed inside to meet the others. Becca nearly tackled them both to the ground once they reached the room.

“Jesus! Hey Becca,” Matt chuckled.
“I missed you Matty!”
“I missed you too.”
“And I missed you too, Bri Bri!”
“I missed you too, Becs.”

He embraced her in a tight hug and she giggled softly.

“I love Brian hugs.”
“I bet you do.”

He winked and sat down in a chair.

“Alright so what songs are we working on today?”
“I was thinking Planets and Crimson Day to start.”
“Oh that sounds good.”

Becca sat down on a couch on the far side of the room and sighed, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. Recording was never the same after Jimmy passed. The environment was dark, empty, and all around depressing without his laughter filling the air. Brian looked at Becca and instantly knew what was wrong. He got up from his chair and sat next to her, pulling her into a tight hug. She sobbed into his chest and let the tears flow. It was moments like this that made her miss Jimmy even more.

“Don't cry, Becca. It's okay.”
“I just miss him so much. Why did he have to go?”
“Sometimes there are no reasons as to why and you just gotta accept it and let it happen.”
“What if I was pregnant when he died? What would I have done then?”
“If you were, we all would have helped you and you know that.”
“Things will never be the same.”
“I know, but we'll get through it. I'm sure he's watching over all of us. He wouldn't want you to dwell on the sadness. He'd want you to move on and live a happy life.”
“Yeah you're right,” she sniffled.
“He's here in spirit and that's all that matters. He may be gone, but he's not gone from our hearts and thoughts.”

Becca nodded and Brian let Tippi switch places with him. Tippi always felt the need to comfort Becca when she was this way over Jimmy. It wasn't just because she loved her, it was because she hated seeing her so upset. She wanted to change things for Becca. Tippi knew Jimmy wanted her to make Becca happy. He saw the way she looked at Becca and he told her that if something were to ever happen to him, he only wanted her to take his place. It may take a while, but that's exactly what Tippi was going to do. She was going to fulfill Jimmy's wishes.
