Life According To Amber Lynn Haner

*Amber's POV*

After going to my locker for the last time today, I was a little early, so I started rearranging my books (it's more shocking when I keep my locker CLEAN to be honest). I was lost in my own world and didn't even notice Danny come up to his locker, until he flicked me on the ear (why does everybody like to flick me on the ear? I mean, Dad was at it the other day, and when Matt came over yesterday he was at it too, and now Danny as well? Is it because I have elf ears?)

"I heard what you did earlier, and I couldn't be prouder, if in honest." He said, as he leant against his locker to face me.

"Thanks, but what I did was nothing. I could've done a lot worse, because when I was ten, I had a guy black and blue in kick boxing. I'd made Austin really proud by doing that, though my mom wasn't so impressed." I replied, shoving a big pile of my books back into my locker, and straightening them up.

"I'd bet you did, you look small and meek but you actually hurt when you punch. I had a bruise for two weeks when you punched my arm. Wait, who's Austin?"

"Well, you wouldn't shut up! Austin's my step-dad, see?" I showed him a picture of Austin and I from Christmas 2013, after it was just us two at home on Christmas Eve. When Danny copped who Austin was, he looked at me in disbelief.

"So wait, your dad's Synyster Gates, your uncles are the rest of Avenged Sevenfold, your grandad is Papa Gates, and now your step-dad is Austin Carlile? Jesus Christ, is there any other band member that you're related to?"

"Oh yeah, Alex Gaskarth's my second-cousin on my mom's side."

"Good fucking lord, I can't believe you. You're what every fan dreams to be."

"I guess so, but it's not all that easy. Since Of Mice & Men took off, Austin wasn't home as much. I rarely get to see Alex, my dad and the guys are going on tour early next year for a couple of months, and my granpa's just crazy."

"I didn't mean-"

"Chill out, Dan. I know what you meant. I'd better run, my dad's probably outside. I'll see you later!"

"Wait, when are we going to tell him that we're together?"

"Soon.."

Dad was early (for fucking once), and he picked me up right where he usually does. He seemed in a good mood, so I don't know how he'd react to know that his sweet little fourteen year old daughter punched another girl in the nose.

"How was school?" He asked, taking my backpack from me and flinging it on the back seat.

"It was ok, the teachers seemed in a pretty decent zone today, whatever was up with that." I replied, climbing into the front seat and putting my seatbelt on.

"Yeah? That's good. What happened your hand? Your knuckles weren't bruised when we left this morning."

"You're gonna kill me.."

"Did you punch another wall? Amber, I told you to stop doing that or you'll break your hand!"

"I punched Amelia in the face.."

"You what?" He knocked the engine off and just looked at me shockedly.

"I said, I punched Amelia in the face. She started calling our family emo, so I have her a dig in the nose. She had it coming sooner or later."

"Oh I heard what you said, I just couldn't believe it. I don't promote violence, but you taught her a lesson. Good going, sweetie, I'm proud of you."

"And I warned her that if she ratted me out, I'd send you and the guys after her. She's scared of you guys."

"Good, she'd fucking better be." He ruffled my bangs and re-started the engine before we headed home. I hoped he'd be proud.

I'm officially on Christmas break now! Last night, I celebrated by watching tons of A7X interviews and all of their music videos. This is how exciting my life is.
