Life According To Amber Lynn Haner
Fade To Black
*Amber's POV*
I woke up to the sound of a phone ringing, and after noticing that the tune was "One Man Drinking Games" by Mayday Parade, I knew it was mine. I groaned and opened my eyes, noticing that I was the only one in the room. I frowned slightly and answered my phone, and was greeted by a lovely, thick Australian accent.
"Took you long enough to answer! Everything alright?" Danny asked, and I could her him chuckle slightly.
"No, I think I'm dying. I was asleep, sorry." I yawned, and then winced in pain.
"It's fine, I was just kidding. What's the matter?"
"I just have this really bad pain in my side, and I haven't a clue what it is."
"It's probably just a stitch or something, I'm not really sure. Anyways, I'm outside now, can you meet me at the door? Security won't let me through."
"Sure, I'll be there in a minute." I hung up and got up off the couch, wincing in pain once again.
As promised, I met Danny at the doors by security, and explained that he was my plus-one, as Dad and the guys were totally cool with him coming, as they like him way more than they liked Ash.
-----
When we got back to the dressing room, everybody else was back, and they were delighted that Danny came. As I said, he's become a family favourite, and made a really good impression. Also, the fact that his grades are good and that he doesn't drink or smoke went down well too.
"Amber, you don't look so good, do you want me to get a doctor?" Michelle asked, putting the back of her hand to my forehead to see how warm I was. "You're boiling, take off your hoodie and get yourself a drink. Sweetie, you look grey in colour." I did as she said and took off my hoodie, and felt a little less warm.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. I don't need a doctor, I'll be ok." I replied, trying my best not to look like I wanted to puke.
"No Michelle's right, you don't look good at all. I think we should get a doctor, quick." Johnny stated, and I sighed.
"Really, I'm fine. I'm just-" I didn't even finish my sentence before I made a sprint to the bathroom, throwing up what felt like a week's worth of food. Once I'd felt a small bit better, I went over to the sink and splashed cold water onto my face, noticing that Michelle was right; I was literally the color of the gray-brick wall outside.
I eventually made my way back to the dressing room, stopping every few minutes to try and ease the pain that was tearing at my side. It's kinda bugging me on what it is, as I've eliminated all of the usual culprits, so it wasn't any of them.
"Feel any better?" Dad asked me when I sat down next to him, and he began running my back.
"Not really, all I want to do is sleep again.." I muttered, barely audible. He put his arms around me and put my head to his chest, stroking my hair to make me feel better. It worked, let me tell you, and I passed out within a few minutes:
-----
I woke back up again when Avenged Sevenfold were due to go onstage, and I didn't feel any better. Still, myself, Danny, Michelle, Val, Lacey, Kim and Meaghan all piled into the side-stage area to watch the show, and we were really enjoying it.
They played really well. And the stage art and stuff was really cool. When they perform, you can see how much they love doing it, and that affects their performance. The more you love doing something, the more work you put into it and the more you enjoy it. Thats how it goes, right?
Towards the end of their set, I began feeling lightheaded, but put it down to all of the dry ice on the stage. I tok gulps of water, as an effort to try and make myself feel better, but it didn't work.
They were currently playing "Victim" which is my favourite A7X song. It was also coming up to Dad's amazing guitar solo near the end, and that's my favourite part. The whole room began to spin, and I could feel myself slowly dropping to the floor.
The last things I heard were Val screaming to get an ambulance, everybody calling my name to make sure I was ok, and the band had stopped performing, and were now rushing over to where I was. Next thing I knew, everything went black.
Notes
"One Man Drinking Games" is literally all I've listened to in the past 48 hours. No lie.
