Life According To Amber Lynn Haner

I Look Dead (And That's How I Feel), But I'll Look Alive, Sunshine

*Amber's POV*

On Saturday morning, at nine o'clock, I was greeted by Brendon Urie singing about the Vegas Lights. Of course, this didn't wake me up. I was already awake, and hadn't slept at all on Friday night. I have a really bad pain in my side, and it's so sore that no matter I positioned myself last night, it hurt even more.

It was an awful night not to sleep, as today's the day that Avenged Sevenfold are playing that gig in that place (I'm great with giving information, I know), and who knows what time we'll get home at. I'm literally going to be on the go all day long, that is, if I don't drop dead first.

After I'd showered, I dried and straightened my hair (that's now a turquoise-blue, as I got sick of the red, so Michelle helped me dye it last night), sorted out my makeup and got my outfit ready. I was being a real smart-ass today, because I bought a shirt that says "I PREFER THE DRUMMER" in bold black letters. The tank shirt was low-cut at the sides, so I had to wear a black bandeau with it, but I don't mind. I then threw on a pair of dark skinny jeans and rolled up the ends, put on my black and white Vans, grabbed my VU hoodie and made it down the stairs, gripping onto my side for dear life.

"What happened to you?" Dad asked once I'd made it to the kitchen. I looked dead, as no matter how much makeup I put on, you could still see the dark circles under my eyes.

"Ive a pain in my side and I didn't sleep all night." I replied flatly, crossing my arms.

"Where on your side?" I showed him where it was, and he sighed. "It's probably just girl-cramps, and you'll be fine in a while."

"Wow, thanks, Dr. Brian, I feel so much better at your medical diagnosis." There was so much sarcasm in that sentence, oh my god.

"Watch your tone, I'm only trying to help you out, yknow."

"I know, and I'm very greatful for it." I gave him a hug and sat down on the countertop, grabbing a handful of cereal from the box that was in the cupboard. There, that was breakfast sorted. Dad made me coffee and then he stood next to drinking his, and he laughed at the fact that even though I was sitting on the kitchen counter, I was still a couple of inches shorter than he was.

"It's because you're so freakishly tall." I muttered.

"Nah, it's because you're so small. Your mom was small too, so that's probably where you got it from. You got my looks and her height." He replied, and I sighed.

"I guess so, I mean, I was an early baby."

"You were?"

"Yeah, two months early. The doctors didn't think I'd make it, and that I'd only last a few days, but here I am, I suppose."

"Wow, you never mentioned that before. But you proved all those doctors wrong, and yeah, here you are making my days full of whining and constant "I'm hungry"s, but I wouldn't change it for anything."

"Nice save, man. That was smooth."

"I try my best." He checked the time on his phone and sighed slightly. "We're late, are you ready?"

"Yeah, I brushed my teeth earlier so that's out of the way."

"Alright then, lets go." He helped me down of the countertop and we made our way out to the car, grabbing earphones and phone chargers in the process. If you're going to be somewhere for hours, you might as well make sure your phone's charged.

-----

We met everybody in the dressing room, and as predicted, we were the last ones to make it here. I went and sat down on one of the choices, as it hurt so much to stand. Of course, that move, along with my constant sighs of pain, had everybody convinced that I was really sick, but Dr. Brian told them all my medical diagnosis, and they relaxed somewhat.

Arin was very much liking my shirt, and he said it was pretty cool, which launched into many conversations about everything, and that distracted me from the pain for quite a while.

I got really tired after a while, so I sat back down on one if the couches and struggled to find a position that didn't hurt. In the end, I had my back against the arm of the couch, and then my legs were on Dad's lap. That didn't hurt so much, and it was enough to let me sleep for a while.

If I could just keep it together for a few more hours, I'll be back home in my own bed, and the pain should go.

Notes

Just a fillerrrrrrrrr and the main thingamabob will be happening in the next update, which, if I have time, I'll post later on.

I spent my whole Friday night listening to every single Mayday Parade album, and thinking "is this really what my life has come to?"

That's so sweet, thank you <3 Ive already restarted writing on a different fic, and I'm writing twenty chapters and see how it goes. If it falls apart, I'll continue this one. If it gets a better review, I'll continue it. Thanks again for the kind words though, they mean much more then you could imagine <3 xx

Noooooo you can't restart. I love this fic just the way it is. ;~; you're an amazing writer. Don't think differently. Everyone has their insecurities. I'm insecure about my writing as well, but you're amazing at writing and 100 times better than any other people whose fics I read.
