Secret Surprise

Brian’s POV
“And you are sure that the girl’s won’t show up here?” I turned to Matt when he was about to open the door.
“Yes, I am sure.”
“How sure?”
“Pretty damn sure, now back off so I can open the fucking door, Gates.” Matt shoved all of us back and I saw the neighbours looking at us from the street and windows.
Four heavy tattooed guys and a kid, with luggage and everything waiting for Matt to open up his summer house…
“Where are the girl’s then?” Johnny asked and looked around. When a woman kept staring at him he nodded his head at her “Good morning, Ma’am”
She just turned around and walked back inside her house and I chuckled.
“You’re a lucky bastard that Nessa didn’t react that way to you.” Zack grinned.
“Shut up.”

Finally Matt opened the door and we all walked inside and sat down our suitcases and let us plop down in the living room.
“So? Someone know where the girls are at?” I asked again.
“I received a message, that they are all safe and sound at the airport and just met up.” Zack replied smiling at something else in the message apparently.
“My fiancé wrote me she landed safely, as well.” Arin grinned like an idiot.
“You have to say that every time?” I asked him with a glare.
“Yes, until I can say wife.” Arin replied with another smirk.
“Not our fault, that you are too lazy and slow to make the deal.” Matt grinned playing with the ring on his left hand as well.
“Yeah yeah… heard that enough. Alright?” I rolled my eyes at them, could these guys never shut up?!
“Let’s get us some beer to settle down and then we gotta talk about your plan and everything?”
“Sounds good to me.” I nodded.

After the third round of beer, we had discussed my plan in detail and now we talked about what had been going on since the last time we all were together.
“So Brian, you fucked up before you left her, huh?” Zack asked grinning.
“I didn’t fuck up, we kind of… discussed in a heavy way of not being on the same opinion. But it’s all for a good cause… she will realize that later…” I beat around the bush and just hoped she would see it like me later on.
“Are you sure that she won’t just fucking run away when she sees you the next time?” Johnny laughed loudly.
“How did this guy get a wife? How… can someone explain it to me?” I asked into the round.
“Yeah the point is, he got a wife…” Matt replied also laughing.
“I’m asking myself this again and again, why am I hanging out with you and how can I call you best friends!?” I asked more myself then the four laughing guys sitting around me.
“Don’t be so mad, Gates. Maybe she will be glad to see you… I’m not sure if she answer your question the right way after the way you parted but… hey… you never know…” Matt clapped my shoulder.
“Because you know the experience of hearing “no” to the big question? Isn’t it right you had to ask Kim twice before she said yes?” I shot back with a satisfied grin.

Leyla’s POV
We were all pretty beat from our journeys, I mean, it wasn’t that weird, seeing we came from every corner in the world, so Kim suggested we would stay in the hotelbar and just have a night in, she had gotten our first round of cocktails and every single one of us was enjoying the drinks and the company.
“I’m so happy you are all here” I sighed happily. Rye laid her hand on mine, pinching it softly. It was only then when Nessa let out a scream
“RYE!!! What is that on your finger?!”
We all looked closely at the beautiful ring Rye was wearing on her finger
“That sneaky bastard!” Meike cursed “I talked to him yesterday! He didn’t say a thing!”
Rye giggled, she had called me the minute Arin had proposed, but I guess she didn’t tell anyone else, she blushed feeling our stares at her
“Arin agreed that I would tell you when I saw you, I knew I would see you all now and I wanted to tell you all at the same time”
“Show me the ring!” Kim pulled Rye’s hand over the table and studied the ring “The kid did a good job!” She nodded in agreement.
“How did he do it?” Meike asked demanding more information.

As Rye started to tell about Arin’s proposal, my thoughts wandered to Brian. I guess we would never make it this far. We were both hotheads and we were both eager to get our way, we both loved fighting and were pretty good at it, but we were even better at making up. But this time was different, we never parted fighting and now he was on the other side of the world and I couldn’t shake the feeling that this time was different. I had a hard time focusing on the conversation and I saw Meike’s stare going over to me every once in a while. I put a smile on my face and try to participate in my friend’s chitchat, hoping I would hide my feelings and fool her.
“Oh Rye, I’m so happy for you two! Who would have guessed the kid would be sooner than Brian?”
Kim laughed hard at her remark and I did my best to laugh with her, but Meike was eyeing me, raising her brows. I shook my head at her, trying to keep her from saying something, but I should have known better.

“Leyla, it’s your birthday tomorrow, your best friends have flown in for you and you look like you just buried your great-aunt Ida” She said as soon as silence fell in the proposal conversation.
They all snapped their heads at me
“You don’t like this?”
“You rather go out?” Kim and Nessa questioned.
Rye looked at me and her stare cut right through me “Ley, tell us, we are here for you”
I looked around my group of friends and saw their kind eyes looking at me expectantly.
“Brian and I fought”
“Sweetie, you alwaysfight, it will be okay” Kim did what she always did, comforting me.
“Yes, imagine the make-up sex!” Nessa smiled
Rye shot Nessa an angry look, but I had to smile at her reaction.
“I don’t know... I think he might be cheating on me”
“You can’t be serious! He would never cheat on you!” Meike replied indignantly.
“I will crush his balls if he will even think about it” Nessa said, the amusement out of her voice. It had made place for angriness, she was definitely readyto fight and she wasn’t the only one, I noticed when I looked around.
“Guys, I ... I mean... if he is sick of me he should just say it. It’s not the first time he acted this weird, but he ensured me nothing was going on. But do you remember the concert in Sao Paolo last year?”
Meike suddenly got a happy smile on her face “Oh yeah, I remember that one, Owen is the product of that night” We all laughed hard at her dreamy face and then they looked at me again.
“That was the first time Brian met my parents, he had been avoiding it every time I asked and then when I told him my parents were busy, he was asking me to visit them... Like he didn’t listen when I told him they were busy!”
I saw Kim and Meike exchange a look.
“I’m getting more drinks” Kim said, and walked for the bar, I saw her grab her phone and was texting like a mad woman... Probably telling Matt to kick Brian’s ass, she was cool like that.

Brian’s POV
“You remember the concert back in Sao Paulo last year? When all the girls have been there?” I asked and I slowly felt the effect of the beer I had been drinking all evening long.
“Sure, I remember… I had a huge ass fight with Meike.” Zack replied.
“Why do you remember that one?”
“The making up afterwards resulted into our little baby boy.” Zack grinned satisfied with himself.
“And then she couldn’t say no when you proposed, huh?” Matt grinned.
“When I proposed, we didn’t know she was pregnant, ass.”
“Why you asking about Sao Paulo?” Johnny asked.
“That’s when I met Leyla’s parents for the first time.” I slurred.
“For real, you never met them before?” Arin asked and looked surprised.
“No. It’s not like I never asked, but she seemed okay if… but then I got the feeling that she was postponing it for some reason you know.” I tried to explain and thought back to our fight.

“Just tell me if you don’t want to meet my parents!” Leyla yelled.
“What do you mean not want, I have asked you the last time we have been here! You always told me that they were so busy and we should plan that for another visit.” I shot back.
“Because that was the case… you know what, just leave it alone…” She had turned her back on me walking away.
I ran after her, snatched her wrist and made her turn around. “What Brian?”
“Leyla, I love you. I really do and I would love to meet your parents.” I sighed heavily.
“Really?” She looked up to me and I kissed her forehead.
“Really, they are family. How could you think I didn’t want to…”

“She thought you didn’t want to meet them?” Matt asked when I finished my little story.
“Yeah, but I never said that, right?” I looked into the group.
“Yes, right.” My friends nodded at me.
“I never said I didn’t want to meet them. I even asked her to meet them. That’s what the girls want to hear, right?”
“Yeah of course.” Matt nodded “I remember meeting Kim’s Mom and brother for the first time. I was pretty nervous, but Kim was so happy when we made the step.”
“Yeah, same here with Meike’s parents. Damn, I was nervous but all good. They love me, how could they not, huh?” Zack grinned and looked down on his phone.
What was it with these guys and their phones, couldn’t they have a normal conversation without glancing at their phones the entire time.
Matt groaned when he got read the text he received “She thinks you’re cheating on her, man”
“WHAT?! I’M NOT! I LOVE HER!”
“Calm down Brian” Arin hushed “We know that, we know about the plan remember”
“I’m calling her!”
“No you are not, you will talk to her tomorrow. The wives will fix this” Zack said calmly.
“You only have to get through this night, tomorrow it will all be okay and she won’t have any doubts anymore” Johnny added.

I fell back on the couch, how was I ever going to get through this night?

Leyla’s POV
The girls had tried to convince me Brian wasn’t cheating on me, for the last few hours, maybe they were right. Maybe nothing was wrong, maybe I should call him tomorrow, tell him I’m sorry for fighting with him.
“I hope you guys are right” I smiled carefully
“This calls for shots!!!” Nessa called out. Kim quickly got up “Let me get some, it’s easier for me, I speak Dutch”
We all looked after her “What’s wrong with her?” Meike said.
“She is acting weird, right? I mean, all the personnel here speaks English, some even better than Dutch. She is hiding something”
Kim came walking back with a tray full of cocktails and shots. She grabbed one of the shots as soon as she had put the tray on the table.
“Kim, switch your shot with me” Meike asked sweetly
“Why?” she asked skittish “There are plenty others on the tray”
“Why do you want this specific one? Give it to me!” I latched out for her shot.
Nessa had sneaked up on her and grabbed the shot out of her hand and smelled.
“KIM! This isn’t a shot!” She took a sip “This is water! What the hell is going on?”
Kim put a hand on her stomach “I’m pregnant” she said shyly.
We all screamed at excitement, hugging her.

Once we all settled down again and Meike started giving Kim tips, I dreamed away again. I would love to have kids with Brian, I loved him that much and a kid would be the product of that, but if it would ever happen? I don’t know... I wanted to be positive, but for now, leaving each other in the middle of a fight, him being so far away from me, it didn’t really help in being optimistic.
