Grim As Ever, I'll Gladly Take Your Soul

“OHhhhhhhhhh Nixxxxx!!!!” Eryn sings as she throws open my door. “Time to wake up!”

“Dammit Eryn, you’re too chirpy.” I groan as I throw a pillow at her head.

She smacks the pillow away and plops down next to me on my bed, “Did someone not sleep well again?”

“Nope.. I think I may’ve gotten an hour? Tops..”

“That sucks. You should be used to this by now… I’m making breakfast for everyone.” Eryn throws the pillow on top of me and I groan loudly once she leaves. I fall off my bed and pull out my bag and combat boots from under the bed. I slip on my black shorts, boots and a black slouchy top. I grab my crap and head to the center kitchen where Eryn and Pam are eating. I plop down and snack on the awesome waffles Eryn made.

“So! I looked at the records of who you killed last night Nix..” Pam started.

“Annnddd?” I asked back.

“You did great!! You knocked off everyone that was due. Plus one extra.. What happened?” Pam asked as Eryn looked up with a huge mouthful of waffle.

“Umm.. I was tired, on my way home and he was hitting on me. Technically I was in danger..” I justified.

“Reason enough!” Eryn pipes in. “I’ll send you the list of people for tonight.” I nod my head in agreement.

“Okay, remember not to let things get the better of you.” Pam reminded me, like the mom she’s always been. “You better get to school..” I get up and slam the front door as I leave.

I lite up a smoke and listen to some music as I walk to school when a car speeds past and nearly hits me, “HEY WATCH YOURSELF FUCKER!!” I get ready to transform into my grim reaper self but remember Pam telling me not to. I keep walking when I see the same car parked at a donut shop.

Don’t let it get the better of you….Don’t let it get the better of you.. I think to myself, but my feet start leading me to the jerk with the car. I lean against the car and smoke another cigarette waiting for the man to come out.

“HEY!” I shout when he steps out of the donut shop. “You practically ran me off the road back there! You wanna say something to me??” I growl and look up to notice the extremely tall man with a cute smile and clear blue eyes.
