A Time To Love

“But Rye...”
“I’m really sorry Matt, I can’t make it, I have to work, you know how important this is to me”
“But it’s our one year anniversary, how can I celebrate that without you?”
“Maybe you should find a nice groupie to spend the night with, one that looks like me?”
I looked at the screen of my laptop with a shocked look on my face, while she was only giggling.
“You know, one day, I might actually do it” I pouted
“No you won’t, you love me” she stated matter of factly.

I looked at my girlfriend, she was on the other side of the world now and we were having a skype relationship, touring was hard without her around. We would play 3 shows in Germany the next few days, starting with the first tonight, but tomorrow was our day off. I had asked for that date to be a free night, because I wanted to celebrate my one year anniversary with Rye and now she was telling me she wasn’t flying in.
I hated the fact that I was touring and even though I loved her being all successful for herself, I hated that I wasn’t seeing her for months because of it.
“Matt, sweetie, there is someone at your door”
“What?!” I looked at her confused
“Someone knocked on your door, you were too far out of it to notice” her smile made me feel all tingly inside. I reluctantly put the laptop aside and got up from the bed to open the door.
“Hello fucker! Are you coming?!” Jimmy jumped into my room
“Yeah, sure, let me say goodbye to Rye first” I walked over to the bed again and wanted to grab my laptop, but Jimmy was quicker
“RYE!!! I miss you!! When are you coming over, I need you to do something fun with me!”
“Hey Jimmy, I’m sorry, but for now I can’t. Could you please hand the laptop back over to Matt for one more second?”
Jimmy looked at Rye one more time “I love you! Come around soon!”
“I promise” she replied sweetly and then looked at me “Matt, I’m really sorry, okay? I promise I will make it up to you soon. Go soundcheck now, you need to be at your best tonight, it’s Germany. I love you sweetie” She placed a kiss on the camera, making me smile widely.
“I love you more” I replied, before closing the program down.

We sat backstage, the opening act was nearly done and we were getting ready.
Zack, Brian and Johnny were already putting the guitars around their shoulders and Jason was helping them putting the in ears in place.
When the opening act was off the stage and the guys prepared the stage for us I looked around seeing the lights flash off and the crowd prepared for our appearance.
Jimmy went out first, getting behind his drum kit unseen or well, nearly unseen, the first beat of music sounded and the rest of us walked on stage.
I grabbed the mic in my hand tight and tried to shut my head off the next 1,5 hours, focusing on the music and only on the music.
Afterwards I would call Rye again, hopefully she wouldn’t be asleep by that time, this 6 hours’ time difference really sucked.
We walked on stage, a smile plastered on my face when I saw all these fans screaming and yelling at us.
“GUTEN ABEND DEUTSCHLAND!” I screamed and hoped my German words wouldn’t suck too bad and somebody could understand me.
“We promised to come back soon after Rock am Ring this year and here we are again.” The crowd yelled even louder and I grinned at them.
“Alright, I see you guys are ready, then let’s start. GATES!”

The concert moved over way too quickly we always had so much fun on stage that if we were allowed to we would play even more songs.
“Alright, last song… for tonight, and we will close it up with something special right now. I know all you hard core fans know everything about us, so this might not be a surprise. I will dedicate this song on this evening for my lovely girl. She is sitting back home working, couldn’t come with us… and it’s our anniversary tomorrow, so show me some lovin’ Germany!”
I heard all the crowd yell ‘Ohhhh’ and ‘Awwwnnn’ and I grinned. I looked at Zack and he shook his head with smile, moving forward with his acoustic guitar.
“Alright, alright… I’m feeling a little better right now… This song is for you, Rye.”

We played ‘Seize the day’ as last song, normally our set ended with Unholy confession but I rearranged it a little bit to fit this one in for my little speech, maybe Rye would have the chance to watch this video over the internet somehow.

I let myself fall on the couch that was in the backstage area, even though I really hadn’t felt like doing this show, it had been amazing, the fans were crazy, giving me exactly the energy I needed, but I was drained now. We were hanging out with all the guys when I heard three familiar voices. “Your German has improved Matt” I heard a voice behind me and got up. “Mei! What the hell are you doing here?” I said when I hugged the German friend of Rye.
“You think I would miss your show when you are in Germany? I feel a little hurt that you didn’t call me” she fake pouted
“And I’m just offended you guys don’t do the Netherlands this time, I mean, come on, what do you love more than Amsterdam?!”
“Hi Kim! I’m sorry, you have to tell the tourmanager” I smiled and showed the Dutch girl my dimples before hugging her. “Don’t tell me Leyla is here too?”
Kim motioned her head towards the couch where Leyla was already in a heated discussion about music with Brian and Zack “Hey Leyla” I said, earning a smile and a wave from her, before she was already back to her discussion. I sighed deeply, where these three girls went, my Rye went too, I couldn’t believe the most important person of the four wasn’t here “How come you three are here and my girlfriend isn’t?” I muttered under my breath, watching the girls have fun with my bandmates.

“Who says she isn’t?”

I turned around at the sound of the sweet voice of the girl that I had missed so bad during these last days.
There she stood in the doorway, a broad smile on her face.
I couldn’t believe my eyes, didn’t we just talk a couple of hours ago and she told me she were too busy to come over?
“You little liar!” I called and ran towards her.
I pulled her into my arms and swung her around.
“Happy early anniversary to you, too.” Rye laughed and I grinned and kissed her hungrily.
“Ah get a room…” I heard Brian yell behind my back and saw Rye lifting her hand and flip him off. I grinned into our kiss and couldn’t hold my chuckle.
“HEY! Matt, get you woman under control, she is mean!” Brian complained and this time I flipped him off.
“Babe, what are you doing here? How could you? I mean.. did you?” I still held her in my arms and Rye motioned me to put her down again.
“I talked to Meike and Kimmie and knew that Leyla was also on her way here, so I took the chance and wanted to surprise you, Matty, I was at Mei’s house when we skyped earlier. I mean it’s our first anniversary, do you really think I could let you be alone on that? Come on, you know me better…” She smiled and I grabbed her waist and pulled her into my body.
“I missed you so bad.” I whispered in her ear and Rye laid her head on my chest.
“I know.. I missed you even more.”
“I have to puke…” I heard Brian again and then “Ouch, don’t hit me Leyla!”
“Then shut up, look, they are so cute.” Leyla sighed loudly and I smiled, I just loved Rye’s friends.
I turned around with Rye in my arms narrowing my eyes at them, seeing my band mates sitting in between Rye’s friends.
“You guys didn’t say a word that she was coming… you could have told me something!” I complained.
“That would ruin the fun, Matt… We can be secretive you know…” Kim grinned at me and winked at Rye.
“Now go to the hotel you lovebirds, we will keep your bandmates company for a while… and don’t be too loud I heard Brian’s room is next to yours.” Leyla said with a grin.
“WHAT?”
“Sorry, dude. We will see us tomorrow.” I grinned at them and waved goodbye.

I walked into the hotel together with Rye, I still couldn’t believe that she was really here.
I announced us at the reception, because I forgot my keycard.
“Oh Mr. Sanders you have been changed to another room” he smiled widely at us.
“But I didn’t ask for a change of rooms, or did you?” I looked at Rye quizzically.
She shrugged her shoulders “No.. I didn’t.”
“We needed to give you this note, Sir.” The guy on the reception handed me a handwritten note.

Have lots of fun guys, we thought you two earned a niceupgrade in hotelroom for your pre-anniversary night … Food and a bubble bath are waiting for you... Enjoy the extra’s and enjoy each other.
And Matt remember, we will need our friend back in one piece…

I sighed and handed the letter to Rye, she grinned “I really have to thank those girls tomorrow.”
“Or the day after…” I chuckled.
I took Rye upstairs to our room, opened the door and held it open for her to walk in first.
These girls really went all out, the room looked amazing and it had everything for a romantic night. I guess one of the guys had brought my bags over, because Rye’s were standing next to mine.

I grabbed Rye’s waist and held her close to my body, burying my face in her neck and inhaling her unique scent.
“This room is amazing... Just like you” I whispered and kissed her throat, sucking on her skin softly.
“Hmm… yes it is.” Rye murmured softly, melting to my body.
I intertwined our hands in front of her belly pulling her even closer to me.
“I can’t describe how much it means to me that you are here now, babe.” I whispered directly into her ear, moving a step forward.
We reached the bed and I finally let go of her, turning her around and looking deeply into her friendly eyes.
So dark that I could lose myself in them at any moment…
I pushed her down gently and she sat on the edge of the bed, our eyes still locked.
“I love you, Rye.”
“I love you, too Matt.” I leaned down and captured her lips with mine, letting us both sink down on the mattress.
I began to unbutton her blouse, pulling away her jacket, I wanted to feel her skin. It had been way too long that we have been together and now that I had her on our bed, I wouldn’t let her get out of it so soon, I would definitely keep her in bed for our anniversary tomorrow too.
I felt Rye’s hands on the hem of my shirt, she pulled it up and threw it away.
Her hands began to roam my chest and my abs, back up to my shoulders and down my arms.
“Matt… how much I missed your strength… your strong arms around me, keeping me safe.”
“I missed your curves, your beautiful smile, your dark brown eyes, everything, I missed everything, Rye.” Her cheeks flushed red and I smiled, I could still make her blush.
I finally had her blouse opened and pulled it away together with her jacket, leaving her only in her bra and skirt,
“Those need to go.” I told her and she turned a little to the side. I unzipped her skirt and pulled it down her legs.
Next I opened her bra and threw it as far away as I could with a boyish grin and saw Rye chuckle.
“Those need to go, too.” Rye motioned to my pants and I obeyed her willingly.
I stood up and pushed them down together with my boxers, as soon as I was naked I lay myself atop of her, bracing my weight on my elbows.
I took my time to kiss her and cherish her curves, letting my hands roam her sides, her breasts and sucked on her nipples.
When I knew Rye couldn’t take much more, I pulled away her panties and let my fingers tease her.
I pushed two fingers into her entrance and she moaned loudly.
“Matt.. more.. I need you!” I grinned.

Rye sucked in air and then moaned loudly and I felt her walls clench around me.

After a few more thrusts I followed Rye into the bliss.
