A Time To Love

The buzzing of the alarmclock woke me up, I grunted “No, shut up!” I slammed my hand on it. Too. Fucking. Early.
I turned around, I would just stay in bed, no one would notice.
That’s what I thought at least… then another thought stuck my mind.
Today was the day of our recording.
The start of the recording of our new album, so staying in bed was not really an option for me.
I groaned and turned on my back, leaving my eyes still closed and waiting for the call, I knew I would be receiving soon.
I nearly fell asleep again, when the phone rang and the voice sounded I had been waiting for and I sighed.
“NO!” I yelled but knew better and opened my eyes slowly, letting them get used to the early morning brightness.
“Rise and Shine honey! It’s recording DAYYYY!” I heard Jimmy’s happy voice in my ear.
“Seriously Jimmy? Let me sleep for a little while. I’m hanging up now.”
“Matt! We need to be at the studio in half an hour, I’m at your house. Open uuuhhhuuupp!!!”
Jimmy hung up and I could hear the pounding on my door.
I groaned and got out of bed, because I knew better then to let Jimmy waiting too long, he would end up breaking one of my windows to get inside my house.

The past few weeks we had been writing and now we would finally start recording. I dragged myself down the stairs and walked towards the door, opening up for Jimmy.
“You sexy piece of man ass” Jimmy chuckled looking me up and down with a big grin on his face.
“I can’t take you out like this, put on some clothes” Jimmy said as he let his self plop on my couch.
I ignored his comment anyway and walked back upstairs.
“I’ll be ready in 15 minutes, I need a shower” I yelled back at him.
Jimmy was just too fucking happy in the morning, I didn’t know how he does that and if he was already drunk he should have brought something along with him for me to share.

When I walked downstairs again, my couch was suddenly occupied by not only Jimmy, but Johnny had joined him too “Morning” he grunted, “Yeah, morning. Let’s go” I grabbed my keys, my phone and the sheets with the lyrics we already wrote.

The first room you entered when you came into the studio was filled with couches and I knew this area would be filled with junk in no time. My look went over the room, finding Zack and Brian on the couch. Zack had his head in Brian’s lap and played with his phone, probably updating his twitter status or something and Brian just stared ahead, humming some kind of song. I heard Johnny’s voice behind me “Oh fuck, you guys are definitely working the Synacky rumours, aren’t you”
“Shut up” Syn replied
“I’m tired” Zacky added.
I looked at the two and shrugged “You guys know where the producer is? Shouldn’t he already be here? Let me go look for him, I didn’t get out of my bed this early to wait”

I walked into the recording studio, looking for our producer when I heard a sweet sound of a guitar coming to my ears. It was not fast, but you could hear the player was skilled at the beautiful sound the guitar produced. I smiled, I could always appreciate other musicians doing their job right, but I still had to find the producer, so I didn’t take much notice, while I continued looking for him. When a beautiful, clear voice came through the speakers, I stopped dead in my tracks and snapped my head at the window looking into the recording booth.
My eyes went over the beautiful girl standing in there, guitar in hand, completely lost in music, I couldn’t help but stare at her
“Matt, have you found....” I held up my hand to Brian, who halted next to me. He needed to stop talking and let me listen to this girl, this amazing girl... My jaw dropped when she hit a high note, just before she stopped playing and opened her eyes again. Her look locked mine immediately and I think my heart skipped a beat. She was staring at me and I was staring at her, neither of us able to avert our eyes. I didn’t know her name, I didn’t know who she was at all, but I wanted to, more than anything in my life, I never felt like this before. Was this what all the fuzz was about? Love at first sight?!

“What are you guys doing?” I jumped at Jimmy’s voice behind me, he had put his hands on mine and Brian’s shoulder and had put his head in between ours “Who’s the babe?”
“I don’t know” I felt my cheeks heat up. What the hell was wrong with me?! “But I think I want her on the album, she is amazing!”
“She is pretty amazing, but to put her on the album? Don’t you think that’s a little premature?” Brian looked at me quizzically.
“No. It’s not. We need a woman’s voice for that one song. Hers is perfect”
I saw Brian looking at me and Jimmy just looking at the girl, following my gaze.
“Where did she come from? I mean who invited her here? Is she working for us?” I asked Brian and Jimmy, not taking my eyes away from the girl.

“I heard she was here practicing with her band or friends, they rented the studio before us, their time is up in 20 minutes, and then it’s all yours again.” Brian said and turned away.
“Did you talk to her?” I asked him “Or where do you know this from?”
“No, but Zack did.. he was here early and saw them practicing I guess… If you want to know something, ask him…” Brian made this sound like he already knew what I had in mind but I ignored his comment.
“Come on, Matt. I show you the last arrangements I made on the songs.” Jimmy clapped happily in his hands and I really couldn’t shake of the thought that he was still or again drunk.
I took one last look at the girl and thought, when their time in the studio was up, I had to catch up with her and ask her to be on our album, I just hope I had the right arguments to convince her.
I looked at the clock and made a mental note, when their time was up, I would be waiting for her, ready to convince her of my arguments…

The next 20 minutes I was pacing the room, 20 minutes had never took this long. I hear Brian chuckle as he looked over to me. Apparently I had all my intentions written over my face and well, these guys just knew me too well. I heard some movement inside and rushed in, almost bumping in to the girl that had been occupying my thoughts for the last 20 minutes.
“Hey!” I smiled down on her, making sure to show my dimples. A little extra leverage wouldn’t hurt.
“Hi” she replied shyly.
“I love your voice” I said to her.
“Thank you” she turned around to put away her guitar in the case and grabbed her belongings.
“I’m Matt” I put out my hand and felt an electric shock trough my body, when she put her little hand in mine “Rye, nice to meet you”
I held her hand a little too long and blushed when she looked up at me with raised brows to point that out to me, I let go of her hand and she made a move to walk passed me. I needed to say something before she would leave
“I want you on my album!” I blurted out, she snapped her head at me “What?!”
“I want you on my album, maybe you can tell me if you’re interested”
“Maybe you should tell me a little more about the music first, before I can answer that question”
“I would love to, but our recording time starts in a minute” I replied a little sad.
“Let’s meet afterwards for coffee then” a sweet smile broke through on her face.
“What if I take you to dinner?” She stared at me, as if I had just suggested to dance around naked
“Okay, pick me up at 7” She grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down her address and then left without another word. Did I just make a date with a girl I had barely spoken 50 words with?

The recording took long and I shouldn’t have made any dates for this evening but the girl – Rye from earlier just had me under her spell within seconds.
Her voice and her guitar playing just brought me close and when I saw her lost on the music and smiling softly that did the rest.
“Matt, where do you think you are going?” Brian asked guitar still in hand.
“Yeah man, we never leave before midnight, while recording.” Zack looked quizzically at me.
“I know, but I got a… business meeting I need to attend to so… We see us tomorrow.”I grabbed my phone and keys and before anyone could reply I left the door.
“Business meeting, my ass… he wants to fuck the guitar girl…” I heard Brian murmur and rolled my eyes, jealous bitch!

I pulled the note out with the address of Rye and regretted not even having time to get fresh and take a shower again.
A change of clothes must be enough.
I quickly drove home and changed into a new outfit and looked her address up, I didn’t want to be too late on our first real meeting.
When I got back into the car I drove towards her house and parked near the entrance.
I rang the doorbell and heard some voices from the inside “No, thanks. It’s for me anyway.” Rye’s sweet voice called and I smiled when she opened the door.
“Hi.”
“Hey, you are on time.” She seemed surprised which irritated me.
“I.. yeah sure…” She grinned at my stuttering and I couldn’t help but chuckle under her sweet smile.
I held my arm out for her and she took it, we went over to a nice restaurant she knew.

I held the chair out for her and was all gentlemen.
“Are you doing these kinds of business dates for all your business partners?” Rye asked with a chuckle.
“Well, no. I thought you would be something special.” I smiled and saw her blush.
We talked about music and I described her our new album work, I had my mp3 player with me and she listened to a couple of demos we just recoded today.
She nodded her head to the beat, her eyes fixed on me and mine never leaving hers.
“But it’s the truth, I need you on our album, your voice… I have a song in mind it would be perfect.”
“Honestly, Matt. I can’t agree to this, even if I really like the idea of being in the studio again.” My heart sank at her words, working with her in the studio would not only be the chance to have this amazing voice on our album but I would have the chance to see her, work with her, even if I had to delete all the tracks she sung, just so she would have to come back again the next day and the day after…
“Why? I thought you liked our style?” I asked her a little helpless.
She smiled sadly, “I do. But I would have to talk to my band first, I can’t just agree to sing with you, while I have a band. You must understand.”
“Talk to them! Call them… I mean… this could be your chance.”I tried again.
“Okay, I will talk to them, alright?” She smiled at me and I left it at that… for now.

We finished our dinner, we talked about everything but we always came back our main topic, the music.
I urged her to exchange numbers, before we headed out of the restaurant.
We walked towards my car, but I didn’t want the evening to end already, so I walked really slowly and I saw Rye gazing at me from the side.
“Hey, I have an idea.” I turned towards her.
“Oh okay, about?”
“You come tomorrow to the studio, just listen what we record, then you talk to your band and make a decision, what do you say?” I knew I sounded way to enthusiastic but I just couldn’t help it.
“That really sounds like a good idea.” Rye smiled and I opened my car door for her.

We drove back to her home and I walked with her to the front door, I grabbed her hand and she widened her eyes at me.
“Rye, this was an amazing… business meeting.” I grinned and saw her smile at me.
“I would really like to see you again tomorrow.”
“I think I can manage that.”
I leaned a little towards her and as softly as I could I pressed my lips to hers and I begged her not to pull away and she didn’t. I felt her soft hand on my cheek as she opened up her mouth to me, our tongues were dancing a sensual dance, which I wished would never end. I felt like coming home and all girls I previously kissed vanished from my brain, all I could see was her.
“Do I get the same goodbye tomorrow?” she smiled
“Only if you will give me a welcome like this” I replied, my mouth back on her lips again. When she broke our kiss and walked inside the house, I couldn’t help but stare at the closed door for a few minutes... That was when it all started…
