Where Is She?
I waited up until the early hours of the morning for Raven to come home and looked at my phone several hundred times before Gena had me coming to bed promising me that she’s alright and she’ll be home before I wake up. She always calls before she comes home or if she’s going to be late. Maybe she’s just having a really good time and she’s forgotten or something. I climbed the stairs behind Gena and we went into our room. I stripped to my boxers and laid down in bed staring up at the ceiling and listening carefully so I could hear if she was to come in while I lay here. Gena rolled over and stared at me.
“Honey, she’ll be home later.”
“I thought she would be home already. I mean it is 3 in the morning.” I said looking over at the digital clock that sat on the nightstand.
“Baby, like I said before downstairs. She’ll come home. She’s just out with Skully having a good time.”
“I know but I have this awful feeling that something has happened.” I said looking deep into those beautiful eyes.
“Zacky, you’re just being a worry wart. She’s not a minor anymore and she’s been out with Skully later than this before. If she’s not home by the time we wake up in the morning call her.”
“Maybe I should call her now.” I said picking up my phone but Gena grabbed my hand.
“Please wait until morning. If she’s at Skully’s, she’s probably fallen asleep.” I nodded and set my phone back next to the clock. I turned on my side and brought Gena into my arms and held her against me and feeling the warmth she gave off and before I realized it, I was deep into a dreamless sleep.

The sun came through the open curtains brightening up the room and waking me from my sleep. I felt the place next to me and Gena was gone. I slowly opened my eyes in the brightly lightened room and smelled cooking going on downstairs. I smiled and pulled myself out of bed and putting on some clothes before going down to the kitchen where Gena was flipping pancakes. I went up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist.
“Good morning baby.” I said as I buried my face into the crook of her neck.
“Morning sweetheart. Did you sleep alright last night?”
“I guess I did. Have you checked to see if Raven had gotten home yet?” I asked and she shook her head.
“No not yet. I just woke up not 20 minutes before you did. I was hoping you would have.”
“I’ll go see now.” I said and I kissed her cheek before leaving the kitchen and making my way back upstairs. I got to her bedroom door and I started knocking.
“Raven?” I said but there was no answer. I twisted the door knob and opened the door slowly.
“Raven, are you in there?” I asked but when I saw her empty bed, I knew she hadn’t come home. I went back to my room and grabbed my phone from the nightstand and found her number in my contacts. The phone rang and rang before it went to voicemail.
“Raven, it’s Zacky. I was just calling to check up on you and see when you’re coming home. Call me please when you get this.” I said before hanging up. I sighed and went through my phone and found Skully’s number.
“Hello?”
“Skully, it’s Zacky.”

I was awaken from my sleep to my phone vibrating against the night table beside my bed.
“Hello?” I asked groggily.
“Skully, it’s Zacky.”
“Oh hey Zacky. What’s up?” I asked sitting up in bed.
“Not much. I was just wondering if Raven is with you.”
“No why?” I asked acting all concerned.
“That’s strange. She didn’t come home last night.”
“What are you talking about? I dropped her off a little after 4 this morning.” I said getting out of bed. Damn I’m such a good liar.
“I’m fixing to go look for her. Do you want to meet me somewhere so we can search for her?”
“I can’t Zacky. I had to leave town early this morning because of a family emergency.” I said and it took all I had not to start laughing at the stupid man.
“Damn…I wonder where she is.”
“I don’t know Zacky. All I know is that I dropped her off and came back home to a message on my phone saying that I needed to come home to Ohio for a family emergency.” I said inwardly smirking.
“If she happens to call you. Please call me.”
“I will Zacky and let me know if you find her.” I said and we said our goodbyes before I hung up the phone. I stared down at my phone and laughed out loud at the idiocy of Raven’s stupid friend.

When I got off the phone with Skully, something just didn’t set right with me. He was just way to calm to not know something about her. It was like he knows something and he just won’t say what it is. I swear if he has anything to do with her not coming home last night, he’s going to be in for a world of hurt from everyone. I slip my phone into my pocket and head back down to the kitchen.
“Is Raven up there?”
“No and I called her phone and left a voicemail and then I called Skully and he told me that he dropped her off and went home.” I said sitting down at the table to eat this delicious breakfast.
“Are you guys going to go look for her?”
“Yeah…I just need to call them and tell them what’s going on.” I said filling my plate with the food.
“I’ll call the girls too and we’ll help you search for her.”
“Good idea. We can cover more ground that way.” I said smiling. We sat and ate the breakfast Gena prepared before I called the guys and explained what was going on and in minutes they were over at my house along with the girls. Gena, Lacey, Leana, and Val left the house after we did and we stopped by the pier while the girls were looking across the other side of town.
“So Zacky, where’s Skully? Shouldn’t he be out here helping us look for Raven?”
“Skully is out of town for a family emergency. So he says.” I said as we walked along the pier looking for anything that could lead us to Raven.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“When I called him this morning about Raven, he was just way to calm. I think he knows where she is and isn’t telling us.” I explained and I looked down at my feet as I stepped on something. I bent down and picked up the promise ring Skully had given her.
“What did you find V?”
“Raven’s promise ring. She never takes this off.” I said twirling it around in my hand. Why would she take it off and leave it here? Did her and Skully have a fight and she threw it at him? Whatever the reason, I just want to know where she is.
