Roadtrip

Mia’s POV
I looked over at Izzie, we were holding hands, the plane was landing and the weird feeling in my stomach was only getting worse.
I knew I had nothing to fear about, but only thinking of being without Jimmy and meeting Josh again looking into his eyes was making me break out in cold sweat.
I was glad that Izzie was with me, but I knew that she had a hard time letting Brian go, just when they were starting it all.
I felt sorry for her, but I needed her, more than ever.
“Everything will be fine, don’t worry.” Izzie looked at me from the side as if she could read my thoughts.
I had always been like that with her and I smiled.
“Thank you for coming with me. I’m sorry you had to leave Brian.” I looked a little sad, thinking about our boys.
“Don’t say that. I’m always coming with you, no way I would have let you go alone.” Izzie smiled encouragingly at me.
“Babe, nothing will happen. He can’t get to you. I will be there, and Olly will be there and he won’t get any chance to come near you, believe me.”
“I know… or I think I know, but my heart is racing and I… I don’t know if I can do it.” I finally confessed. I tried to be so strong the entire time, to show Jimmy that he didn’t have to worry, that Jimmy wouldn’t feel the need to come with me, he had more important things to do, but right now I felt like crying and running back into his strong arms and let him chase away all the dark thoughts.
“You can, you are strong, babe. Don’t let him hurt you, he hurt you enough. Hold you head up high, think of Jimmy, don’t let Josh ever control you or your life. This will be the last time you see him. Let him know, that there is no way that he can have you again.”
I nodded “You are right. I know…” I breathed deeply in and out. “Sorry, I had a moment of weakness. I will be strong, I can do this.”
“There you go! And we are here, come on let’s get out of the plane and see if Olly really is true to his word and picks us up.” Izzie stood up, I haven’t even realized that we were the last remaining passengers in the plane.

When we got our bags we walked further into the hall and looked around, Olly told me on the phone, he would pick us up.
Izzie and I looked around but I couldn’t see his tall frame.
“MIA! IZZIE! HERE!” Finally someone yelled and both Izzie and I swirled around finding Olly, completely dressed in his police uniform.
He walked towards us and both Izzie and I grinned at each other and then began to run towards him and letting him catch both of us in one arm.
“Wow, what a welcome.” Olly grinned and we hugged him.
“Thank you for picking us up.” Izzie went back to being a little shy, and I knew exactly why.
She was still feeling a little sad, or well sad for Olly that she had made her decision for Brian and again Olly was left with nothing.
“I wish it was for a better cause, but I am your official bodyguard and police watch for the day. So girl’s be prepared I’m not leaving your side.” Olly grinned and I saw him glancing at me.
“Are you okay, Mia? How are you feeling?” He looked concerned.
“I don’t know.. I’m trying to be strong, I mean… today it will all end, right? And if you and Izzie will stay with me, I can do it.”
“Of course we will.” Izzie nodded and I saw Olly looking at her for a moment then looking away.
“Good, then let’s go… hmm.. you didn’t bring your better half with you?” Olly asked casually not really looking directly at me or Izzie.
“No, they are still in the race and have only a few stops and days left. They would have loved to come with us, but… yeah…” Alright, I said they… which meant more than one, which mean Olly would have figured out on his own soon that Izzie was with Brian now, but I guess he knew or guessed this already, when she left him and didn’t come back.
“Olly, can I talk to you for a second… alone.” Izzie looked at me with a pleading face and I nodded.
“Sure, I will… just… walk ahead, we’ll meet outside.” I replied and turned around, I knew Izzie had to at least talk to Olly a moment and clear the situation between them, she just was like this, nothing left out in the open.

Izzie’s POV
Mia walked away from me and I had this terrible feeling in my stomach
“Babe?”
She turned around and looked at me “Yeah?”
“Don’t go outside, I promised Jimmy I’ll look after you and that won’t work when I don’t see you”
She smiled lightly and waited a little ahead, making sure Olly and I had some privacy.

“So you and Brian huh?” Olly said, getting to the point right away “I told you there was more than he let on”
“Yeah, we kinda got close during Mia’s abduction”
“What about the slut?”
“Nothing happened” I looked up to him and saw him looking down at me with a smile.
“I have no hard feelings Izzie, I would have loved to be with you, I mean, you know how I feel about you, but this wasn’t right”
“Not the right time... again” I smirked.
“But be prepared, if Brian screws up, I will be waiting in the shadows, I will woo you and you will surrender, but for now, I hope you are happy”
“I am, I really hope we can be friends, being around people like you make me feel like one of the popular girls” I winked at him, while we started walking back to Mia.
“I feel hurt!” He put his hand to his chest “You are only using me for my looks”
“Well yeah, have you seen yourself?!”
He put an arm around me and kissed the top of my head “You are seriously underestimating your own looks. Mia, tell her she is beautiful”
“You are honey, you don’t even notice half of the time”
I looked down at myself, seeing my sneakers, my sweatpants and Brian’s sweater, way too big for me and started laughing “Yeah sure!”
“Okay, maybe not now, that sweater doesn’t do you any good” He stuck his tongue out to me.
I shoved his shoulder, but that was just like pushing into a wall, oh, that reminds me “Matt says hi” Olly smiled and held the car door open for me “only Matt?”
Mia chuckled “No, all of them... well maybe not Brian”
I blushed “Okay enough, no more Brian jokes”
Olly and Mia laughed loudly “But he is so easy” Mia said in between laughs
“MIA!”
She held up her hands in defence “Okay, Okay, he might have changed. I will stop”

Olly was manoeuvring the traffic, trying to get us into town as save as possible. As soon as I saw the skyline come in sight I was attached to the window, I couldn’t get enough of this view, it took my breath away everytime.
“We booked you a hotel, close to the courthouse. We have to be in court at 2, your testimony is the first after lunch, so we have a little time left. You can freshen up and we can eat something”
Mia got all silent next to Olly and I leaned forward and put my hand on her shoulder.
“Babe, it will be okay, I promise. Have you called Jimmy?”
“I send him a text, I can’t talk to him right now” her voice broke and I saw tears streaming down her face “He will get on a plane without any thoughts when he hears me like this”
I smiled at her “You are probably right. Well, maybe even better, you will have good news when you talk to him later on” I pinched her shoulder a little and felt her relax again. She was so nervous and tense, I understood, I was too, I just hoped she could keep herself together in court, and not give him the satisfaction of seeing what he did to her.
“Olly, how is the trial going this far?”
He started telling calmly, never taking his eyes of the road.
“We started 2 days ago, Mia’s statement is the last of it. He hasn’t said much, apart from his examination. They found a lot of evidence at his house, I think it’s for the best you haven’t seen it all, even I was a little freaked out about it. Let me tell you Mia, he will be going away for a long time. Stalking is bad, but abducting is so much worse. He signed his own sentence. You have nothing to be afraid about”

We had reached the hotel in the meantime and Olly took our bags and lead us to our room. Olly ordered a pizza to our room and we tried to relax a little.
“How will it go today? What will happen with Mia?” I looked at Olly interested, I really needed to know how this was going down, I hated not knowing.
“You will wait in court, I will be there with you. You can even wait outside of the room if you want.” He looked at Mia while telling this, but Mia only looked at her hands.
“The court will call you to the stand and ask you questions, just tell your story, you will be okay. What he did to you is not right, and he will pay.” Olly held Mia’s hands, forcing her to look up to him.
“After that the jury will go into another room and consider everything they hear and they will reach a verdict. In this case, seeing their reactions up to now, knowing the story you are going to tell, I don’t think it will take them very long and I’m confident the verdict will come soon” He pulled Mia in his arms and hugged her tightly.
“We will need to leave soon, do you want to call Jimmy before we go?”
“No, I can’t” she replied silently, putting on her shoes. “Let’s go” She tried to sound brave, but Olly and I looked right through her, but this might not really be the time to point that out to her.

The courthouse was enormous and it was busy, a lot of people walking in and out.
Olly waited with us outside of the room “Do you want to wait here?”
Mia shook her head “No, I want to go in, let him see how well I’m doing”
I kissed her cheek “That’s the spirit. I’m right here”
She took one deep breath and we walked in. We sat down half way, waiting for the guards to bring in Josh.
The moment he came in, I felt Mia stiffen next to me and she clenched my hand, but I saw her stare at him with a determined look and a slight smile around her mouth. I hoped she was thinking about Jimmy, he could cheer her up, even if he wasn’t here.

“The court is in session, the people call to the stand Ms Mia Heron”
Mia got up, and walked towards the witness stand. She looked amazing and powerful, I knew that she was dying on the inside, but she wasn’t showing it for a second. I saw Josh look her up and down and then shooting Olly and me a look. I wanted to punch that face with the smug look on his face. I didn’t know what the hell he was thinking, but that beautiful superwoman at the stand was going to put him away for a long time. I looked at my best friend and nodded at her encouragingly “You can do it, Kick ass” I mouthed at her, earning a little smile back, yes, this was going to be epic.

“Ms. Heron, please state your full name for the court?”
