Hostage

Alicia’s POV

Monday and Tuesday went by in a blur, only problem was that when it was Tuesday and I went home after work I knew what was to come.
How could Zacky really insist on me and Matt talking, having dinner at his home – alone?!
What was he thinking?

I knew I had planned that myself, after my talk with Caroline I knew that Matt and I should be talking again. Zack and Matt were best friends and I would always be around them when they were working and in private as well, so we should settle this unease between us.
But was it something that could be settled this easily?
And why was I so nervous about it?

At least I had convinced Zack, that dinner wouldn’t be necessary, that we could just talk for an hour and then he could leave and when Zack came home, we could eat together.
Zack finally gave in and nodded at me, and I was a little relieved, but I didn’t really know why.

I stopped at my home and grabbed some of my clothes and when I was on my way over to Zack’s house and stopped at a traffic light I received a message.
I looked at it and saw it was from Zack.

Babe, I had to go, meeting starting a little early, photo shoot is planned as well.
Will take me a while, packed my spare key into your bag earlier.
Have a nice evening, don’t wait for me, Z

Oh no, Zack for real, a honking sounded behind me and I noticed that the light was green so I stomped onto the gas pedal and 10 minutes later I arrived at Zack’s home.
And yes it was true, Zack’s car was already gone and when I looked into my bag I found the key to his house.

I opened the door and walked inside, I turned the light on and put away my bag.
Seven, Matt would be here in about one hour.
I grabbed some clothes from the bag and went to the bathroom, the air was still warm and a little clouded, so Zack must have showered just before he went to his Vengeance University meeting.

I let the hot water pour over my body and let my thoughts run to the things that I had to discuss with Matt.
Why did he not tell me he was just on a break with Valary?
Why did he sleep with me if he wasn’t really free?
Why did he tell me he cared for me, then took his distance and then he cared again?
Why is he so confusing?

I went out of the shower and towel dried my hair and pulled my clothes on, I didn’t bother putting on makeup that wouldn’t be needed…
I looked into the mirror and pulled my wet hair into a ponytail, the wet strands tickling my neck a little, but would dry soon.

The doorbell rang and he would be a little early but I breathed deeply in and out and opened the door, but not Matt stood there.

Matt’s POV

I paced my living room, this was stupid… a dumb idea… but I couldn’t cancel now.
I was too curious to see her again and I couldn’t let the chance slip away to talk to her alone.
I showered and dressed into a muscle shirt and pulled a sweatshirt on top of it, then a black jeans and a base cap.

I sat in my car thinking about everything that I had to say to her as long as we were alone.
We really had some topics to cover and I guess she also needed another apology from me.
I really fucked up when it came to her during our free time, but the problem was I also couldn’t tell her how much she meant to me, that I couldn’t shake of the feeling that I fell in love with her, that she was making her way to my thoughts and dreams all the time, day and night.
Why now?
Why have I not realized it, right after the abduction, everything would have been different…
And now I had to try to put away my feelings because my best friend was with her…
Fuck!
I hit the steering wheel and realized next that I already arrived at Zack’s house.

I saw that Zack’s car was missing but another car stood in the driveway, when I came closer another car pulled away from the driveway, I frowned when I got out of the car and then saw it was a Pizza Taxi.

I walked towards the door and rang the doorbell and waited for Alicia to open up, she looked angry when she opened up.
“Hey, are you alright?”
“Hi.. yeah. I am fine, but Zack is an ass.” She replied and I had to smile.
“Why is that?”
“I told him we didn’t need to have dinner, and he agreed but as you can see he ordered food from wherever he is right now… and already paid for it.” Alicia motioned next to her to 2 pizza boxes.
“When it’s already here?” I shrugged and took the food to Zack’s living room and saw from the corner of my eyes Alicia roll her eyes at me.

We sat at the living room table both not saying anything, we stared at each other and didn’t touch the food.
“This is awkward” Alicia said finally and I nodded.
“Yes, you are right. But why?” I asked her and hoped that we could soon break the ice.
“Why? Hmm…” Alicia tapped her chin and I knew she didn’t need to think about it, she wanted to say something but before she could I interrupted her.
“Alicia, I am sorry. I told you I would be there for you and I wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t care. It sounds like an excuses but it isn’t. It really was bad timing. If I had known that you had the appointment on that day, I would have been there, I would have never shut my phone off.”
She looked at me a little perplexed, “It’s okay, Matt. I think everything between us was weird since we were freed, right? You and Val had a lot of catching up to do… but you know what Matt, why didn’t you just say you had a girlfriend, I would have never slept with you if I knew you were still with someone.” My heart froze, what?
“Alicia, I wasn’t together with Val. I would have never slept with you, if I was in a relationship. I really wasn’t. I broke up with her weeks before that abduction took place. I never lied to you, Alicia.” I got up from my chair and walked towards her, kneeling next to her and grabbed her hand, but she pulled away.
“Don’t, Matt. Don’t lie again.” She shook her head not meeting my eyes, I stood up and made her look at me.
“I. Never. Lied. To. You.” I stretched each word to make it clear that I meant what I was saying.
“But Val…”Alicia started but I interrupted her.
“Yes, Val wanted us to come back together and I was a coward in not telling her right from the start that there was nothing between us, but that is it. I am not together with her, we are not a couple and I didn’t betray anyone. How could you even think that, Alicia? After the time we spent together, after we have been through so much…” I frowned and Alicia looked a little shy now.
“I am sorry, but you haven’t seen yourself at the BBQ, she was all over you, I thought… anyway it doesn’t matter. I am sorry if I was assuming something…” Alicia shook her head and I grabbed the chair next to her and sat down with only a little distance.
“Alicia, there is something else, that we need to talk about.” I said and breathed in, holding the air in my lungs.
“What?” Alicia asked and I let the air rush out at once.
“You remember, that you and I… that we… made love…” I started and looked at her, she blushed and I had to smile at how adorable she was looking.
“Yes, of course I remember… and?” Alicia looked down on her hands.
“We didn’t use protection… I mean… is it possible that… you are-” I started again and her eyes met mine suddenly her mouth hanging open.
“NO!” She said shocked.
I sighed, releaved… or?
“Are you sure, that-”
“Yes, I mean.. I would have known. I am not, okay. Is that all?” Alicia looked away and I heard her stomach growl.
I sighed loudly. “Maybe we should eat a little before it’s getting cold...” I asked and Alicia sighed loudly.
“Yes, I guess you are right, we should eat now, since it’s here already.” Alicia gave me a small smile and I felt my heart jump.
This was so wrong…
