Alicia’s POV

I stared out of the window of Zack’s car, we were both silent. I was still thinking about Matt, why had he been there? Why was it important to him now to see me and to ask me if I was fine?
He even wanted to invite me to dinner, why that?
After the time we were freed he never even had the time to make a call, why now?
And why did he point out that he may have a date or not… should I care?
As far as Zack told me he was with Val again, since they were having this romantic dinner or something…
And why did I even care, should he be happy with Val or whoever…
They had history together, she made it very clear on the BBQ that she won’t let anything come between them…
I sighed loudly.

“What’s wrong?” Zack asked suddenly and I twitched at his voice.
“Sorry, I zoomed out.” I felt a little guilty still thinking about Matt.
“Don’t fool me, what made you zoom out? Matt’s sudden appearance?” Zack asked and I blushed, I didn’t even know why.
“I.. yes.. I guess.” I stuttered and shrugged.
“That may be my doing. You know… he called me the other day and I might have told him that he was an ass for not calling you and being there for you as a friend. I didn’t think that he would show up at your work.” Zack looked at me from the side and then returned to look on the street.
“Why did you do that?” I frowned at him, Matt was still his best friend.
“Because you looked hurt and I thought it would mean something to you if he would be there… or at least showed a little interest in your friendship, I didn’t mean to upset you.” Zack grabbed my hand in his stroking it with his thumb.
“Thank you. I was just a little flabbergasted to see him there…” I tried to smile but Zack shook his head again.
“I told you not to do that… this half smile half grimace…” He chuckled and I pulled my hand away to slap him when he held one hand up in surrender.
“We are here, don’t hurt me!” Zack shut off the engine and hastily opened the door to get out.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and ran after him, the door opened and Caroline stood there, Zack grabbed her and pulled her in front of him, trying to hide behind my best friend.
“What’s going on here?” Caroline looked confused.
“She wants to hurt me, keep her away.” Zack grinned and looked over Caroline’s shoulder.
“Oh really? Why is that? And why would you think, that I am on your side?” Caroline asked and turned around to hold Zack in place.
“GO ALICIA!” Caroline yelled and I laughed loudly at Zack’s surprised face.
I walked towards him and slapped Zack’s butt, I will leave it at that for now.
“That’s it?” Caroline asked.
“For now…” I replied and the fake fight ended.
“What’s going on here?” Brad walked towards us with a frown.
“Nothing, babe. Just some disciplinary measures.” Caroline told Brad and patted his cheek.
“I don’t think I wanna know then. Come on inside, before the neighbors see you.”

After we caught up on everything that happened during the last days and all the happy tears from me and Caroline were dried after informing her that I wasn’t ill, we could just enjoy the rest of the evening.
Caroline walked into the kitchen and I followed her, to help her with the empty bottles.
“You and Zack, huh?” She smiled silly at me.
“Yeah… why?” I asked her looking over at Zack and Brad talking with a smile.
“I wanted to ask you something, but I guess with these two around, I won’t get the chance.” Caroline motioned over to the couch.
“Why? What did you have in mind?” I asked her with a frown.
“What if you come over for a late breakfast tomorrow. I have my day off and Brad is at his parents with Jamie and we have the noon all for us? Time for a real girl talk?”
“Sounds good to me.” I nodded and saw Zack walking towards us, he laid his arms around my waist and his head on my shoulder.
“What are you ladies talking about?” He smiled and kissed my throat.
“I invited Alicia to a girl’s breakfast, you are okay if I burrow my best friend for a couple of hours?” Caroline asked.
“Yes, sure I am fine with that. I also had plans for tomorrow, not so early, but I guess I can manage to change them fitting to yours.”
“Perfect.” Caroline grinned and I didn’t really know if I would like the conversation she wants to have with me tomorrow.

Zack’s POV

“Thank you for the dinner, it was really nice.” Alicia said and hugged Caroline and Brad before we went to my car.
“No problem, you two are very welcome.”
We drove to my home and I really enjoyed the evening with her, it was so nice to see Alicia having fun with her friends.

I opened the door when we were at my home and as soon as I closed the door us I pulled Alicia in my arms.
I hugged her close and kissed her, the way I wanted since she left my bed this morning.
