Hostage

Alicia’s POV

I came from the talk with my boss, and he was adamant that I had to stay for the customer visit, since I had been the one responsible for the project.
I wrote Zack a message that I wouldn’t be done here, before six, so he shouldn’t be waiting for me.
His message came shortly after.

What should I order as food for us? Z

I grinned. Surprise me... A

Concentrate on work now, I will make you forget everything else later tonight. Z

I laughed loudly and turned around and saw some of my colleagues looking at me.
“You looking so happy, Alicia…” Melissa smiled at me.
“I am.” I grinned.
“Let me guess… a man?” Melissa winked at me.
“Yes… but Ssshhh… I don’t want everyone to know, it’s just… you know the beginning.”
Another message arrived and I smiled, what idea does he have now?

Your best friend is waiting for a reply! I called you yesterday, where have you been? I am concerned! You will come over for dinner this evening, or I will hunt you down! Caroline

Oh shit, I saw her call but forgot to call her back.

Sorry, I am fine, no need to be concerned. I am at work, an emergency. I guess then WE will come over for dinner… ;) Alicia

Fine, I like the sound of WE… Tell me more… Caroline

Another small message for Zack, so he knew we would be eating at Caroline’s tonight and after that I needed to get ready for the customer visit, I pushed the send but when my boss voice sounded behind me.
“Mrs. Davis, the customer is here, are you ready?” My boss walked towards me and I hastily put away my phone, shutting it off and walked towards him.
“Of course.” I nodded and saw Melissa grin at me.

The meeting went really well but was also really long, we even our meal with them in the cafeteria and after that the next steps of the project would be discussed.

I walked back to the office it was already after six and most of our colleagues were gone, but I saw Melissa waiting there for me.
“Hey! How was it?”
“Pretty good. I hope we will hear from them soon.” I smiled but was completely exhausted.
“Oh good, I have something to tell you.” Melissa smirked.
“Oh okay. What is that?” I frowned.
“Someone is here to pick you up. I guess I know why you were smiling like a lunatic writing messages with him. He is gorgeous… and wow all these tattoo’s, I never thought that this could look so sexy on a man…” Melissa nearly drooled.
“Ohhh, he is here? I told him I didn’t know when I was done, that’s so sweet.” I grinned.
“Hurry, he is waiting here since nearly 1 hour now. And ask if he has a nice friend for me… you know.” Melissa winked at me and I shook my head at her.
“We see us tomorrow.” I waved and walked to the elevator. I pushed the button for the first floor, couldn’t wait to see Zack again, he was waiting for me… I grinned and waited for the doors to open again.

Matt’s POV

I pulled my phone out and looked at the time, damn I have been sitting here nearly one hour now. But at least I have been at the right building and I remembered the company she was working for.
A young woman had welcomed me and when I told her I wanted to see Alicia, she winked at me and said something like, now she knew what’s going on… and I frowned.

I didn’t really think it would be so good for Alicia to work again so soon, the abduction and the stress about her cancer tests was just over, she should get more time off then just that.
Maybe I should also talk to her and convince her to stay home a little longer…

But right now I wouldn’t let the chance slip away from me to see her.
I just wanted to apologize that I wasn’t there for her… that I wanted to talk to her again.

I saw the elevator move down and hoped that finally Alicia would be the one waiting there, I was curious if her colleague had mentioned that I was waiting for her or if she would be surprised.
How would she react anyway?

The doors opened and Alicia stood there a big smile on her face, I took the time to look at her, she wasn’t dressed like the other woman in a business outfit.
Alicia wore jeans and a white shirt with a small dark blue jacket over it, her hair falling in waves down her shoulders and back, a little make up in her face, but still so natural.
I smiled when I saw her looking around, maybe searching for me?

I got up from my sitting position and walked towards her, she didn’t see me yet, her eyes still searching.
“Zack?” She called and I froze.
Zack? Why would she think Zack was here?
I walked finally towards her and when she saw me, her smile faded and I felt a small slice of pain in my heart. I loved her smile, why wouldn’t she smile anymore for me?

“Matt? What… what are you doing here? And where is Zacky?” She looked confused a small knit between her eyebrows and I longed to let my thumb wander there to flatten it or just kiss it away, so she wouldn’t look so confused anymore.
“I don’t know where Zack is… I was here waiting for you.” I told her and made another step forward and before I even thought or planned it, I grabbed her into a hug.
I held her close and first she stiffened then her body relaxed a little and she hugged me back, I inhaled her sweet scent.

“Hm… what are you doing here? Why were you waiting anyway?” Alicia pulled back and I already missed her feeling.
Shit, I didn’t know she had this effect on me, or maybe I hadn’t thought about it…
“I received your message. I am so sorry. You have been in the hospital, right?” I asked her and she closed her eye briefly then a small smile on her lips again.
“Yes, I was. I am fine, no cancer.” She told me and I pulled her into another hug.
“I told you, see I told you would be fine. I wanted to apologize that I wasn’t there, I promised you but my phone was shut off and I-” I started but felt Alicia pull away again.
She made a step back “It’s okay. I didn’t think you had time anyway and I wasn’t alone, so… I’m okay.” She shrugged but I could hear the hurt in her voice.
I fucked up…
“I’m sorry, can I make it up to you? Maybe we can have dinner now? I will invite you, come on. We should talk anyway. I have a lot of questions and-” I wanted to grab her hand but she pulled away.
“I can’t. I already have plans, you know.” She looked beside me to the entrance a smile making its way on her face again and I turned around to see the reason for that.
