Hostage

Matt’s POV

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I frowned, ending the kiss with Val and pulling slightly away.
Val looked at me with a quizzical look and I pulled my phone out.
“Sorry, I…” Didn’t know what to say…
What was I doing here? Kissing her? I got lost in the moment, I guess… but this was making everything even more complicated.
I got up walking a few feet, my phone in hand, I pressed a button and saw it was already after midnight.
“Matt? Are you okay?” Val asked softly, her hand on my arm now.
“I.. yes.. Val.. Listen, I am sorry.”
“No, don’t be. Come on, let’s get back to the party. If you want, I will drive us home now?”
“Yes, that would be good. Will you tell the others, that we leave? I am waiting at the car.” I told her and Val nodded, squeezing my hand a little.
I went to my car, opening the passenger door sitting down, phone still in hand.
I looked at the message.

She is home safely, she told me everything. I could calm her down, will stay with her. Don’t worry. Zack

Fuck.
Alright, fine. The first part was okay, but the rest? I didn’t want to read the rest… what means she told him everything?
Everything between us as well? Everything that happened with the Abductor?
What means I could calm her down, will stay with her…
I don’t want him to stay…
I wanted to stay… or?
Ahhh fuck!
I hit the car door with my fist, why was this so fucked up… and why did I kiss Val when I thought about Alicia all evening?!
Maybe a good night’s sleep would clear my head, so I could sort everything through.

The door at the driver’s side opened and Val got in, smiling at me shyly.
“They understood, don’t worry. Let’s get you home.” Val started the engine and we drove home.
When she parked in the driveway and we walked together to the entrance I opened my mouth to tell her that this was a mistake, that she should better leave but after everything she did for me, I just couldn’t.
I couldn’t bring it over me to push her away like that.

So I opened the door and Bella came running towards us. “Hey babe… Bella… have you waited for us? Mommy and Daddy are back home.” Val soothed the Labrador and I smiled.
“I will go straight to bed, I need to sleep… I’m beat.”
“Alright, babe. I will follow soon.”
“Val, will you… stay in the guest room, please.” It was enough that she was still here in my house, but sleeping with her in one room, would be really too much.
“Of course, silly.” Val tiptoed and kissed the corner of my mouth and went towards the kitchen.
Did I see everything wrong?
I thought she wanted to… but she didn’t?!
My head began to spin from all my thoughts, I went to the bathroom get rid of my clothes and went to bed.
A good night’s sleep that’s what I needed… and maybe I needed someone to talk to… maybe I should talk to Brian about everything…

Sean’s POV

“You are still watching them?” I couldn’t believe my own ears when Carl said it.
“Of course we are. What? Do you think we let this chance slip away… We were this close!” He held his thumb and index finger only inches apart.
“Yes you, I mean we were this close to getting into jail, you idiots!” I yelled couldn’t contain my anger now.
Didn’t they learn anything?
Why do I have to be the responsible one?
WHY?

“No, never… We were so clever, if they hadn’t escaped we would have our money already. I let Will check the hotel from afar.”
“What? Why?” I looked confused between Will and Carl.
“Tell him!” Carl urged him.
“I watched the hotel, they have been searching the hotel.” Will stated.
“Who?” I asked with a frown.
“The police, they are searching the hotel but they couldn’t find any hint. Amazing, huh? We had such a good idea with the fake names and paying in advance. We should keep up on it, if the let this chance slip, we just have to wait for a good chance again, we just need them unprepared.”
I looked at my brother shocked!
“Are you freaking out of your mind? How can you say that? How can you plan that? Do you want to go back to jail? Was that so much fun the first time?” I asked him completely astonished.
I thought after this horror trip of being nearly caught, they would have made up their minds and new that this was such a bad idea… we traumatized people.
Matt and Alicia would never be the same after these events, and they really thought about doing it again?

“Come on, Seany. We are such an amazing team, we will do it again. We can make it.. after that all our debts are paid and we can start anew… you can finally go to college or make a trip to Europe I know you always wanted that, get away from here… We can do it together.” Will looked at me hopeful and I shook my head, which drugs did cloud his mind now.
“Of course I always wanted that, but not like this, not under these conditions. I am out and I won’t help you. This is bad… this is a really bad idea and you will get caught, believe me you will.”
Even if this time I really had to sell my brother out, if they thought about doing something like this again and there wasn’t somebody to stop them, people could get hurt even more.
And I knew that Alicia and Matt wouldn’t come out of this like the person they were, they might even not be the same right now…

“What do you mean you won’t help us? We are a team! You are my brother!” Will looked at me shocked as if he never expected me to question him or the whole thing.
“I mean it like I said it… and you two should think about the whole thing. THIS IS WRONG!”
I stood up and walked away from them not looking back…
How could they even think about this again, how could they not see how wrong it was and how close they – no we were to getting caught!

They have been to jail before, they shouldn’t want to go there again, because I sure didn’t want to go to jail… I wanted my freedom and life.
I ran towards my car, I had to think of something, should I warn Matt and Alicia that something could happen?
Should I sell my brother out? Could I?!
