Just another romance story

Zacky’s Pov
I smirked at the expression I left on Lily’s face as I walked away. I walked down the road my hands in my pockets. The cold October air filling my lungs as I continued down the street. Luckily I didn’t live far from Lily so I didn’t have far to walk. I walked up the long drive in front of my house and yanked open the door, slamming it shut behind me.
“Mom I’m going out tonight” I said as I walked past where she was standing doing dishes in the kitchen.
“Are you coming back for dinner?” She said throwing the dish cloth over her shoulder and tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“Probably not” I shrugged turning to walk away.
“Don’t be too late” She called as she turned and continued with the dishes. I walked down the hall and up the staircase to my small room. I looked around at the blue walls that had different posters stuck up around them and sighed. I walked over to my wardrobe and pulled open the door my eyes landing on a pile of scrunched up clothes lying at the bottom of it. I pulled the pile out of the closet and threw them onto my bed. As I walked over to my bed I flicked on the radio, Kicking off my worn out sneakers. I sat down on the bed and started rummaging through the pile looking for a shirt that didn’t smell like it had been sat in a gym locker for a month. Eventually I found an old Iron Maiden shirt that my dad gave to me and I slipped it on. Picking up my guitar, I sat back down on my bed. I still had at least an hour to kill so I started practising the song I had been working on. After a while my fingers hurt too much to play and my hands kept slipping because they were all sweaty. I was starting to get nervous now and it had only just dawned on me that I was going on date; I’d never been on a date. What do I do? What do I say? Do I kiss her? Well I’ve already done that but fuck! A few moments later I heard a loud knock on the door below me and I got up off of my bed setting my guitar down behind me. I wiped my hands on my jeans trying to get rid of the sweat and walked down the stairs. I reached the bottom and saw my mom leaning against the door frame laughing with Lily. She was half way through saying something when she spotted me and smiled making my mom turn around.
“So this is where you were going?” She asked raising her eyebrow and folding her arms across her chest.
“Yeah…” I said warily. She laughed at my response shaking her head and walked into the living room. When she moved out of the way I saw what Lily was wearing. She looked awesome. Her hair was left how it naturally was but she had pinned her fringe back showing off her icy blue eyes. Her lips were a bright shade of red and her eyes were circled with black making them stand out more.
“You just gonna stare at me or are we gonna go?” She giggled bringing me out of my daydream.
“Yeah sorry” I said stepping out of the doorway and closing the door behind me. Normally I had to look down at lily because she was only 5,4 but tonight she was wearing combat boots that gave her another couple of inches.
“Damn, it’s warm” She said pulling off her leather jacket, making me notice that her shirt was showing quite a bit of cleavage. God this was gonna be difficult.
“Want me to hold your jacket?” I offered.
“Uh sure” She smiled handing it to me and taking hold on my hand. I smiled at her and we walked down the drive and into town.
“So I was thinking we could go to that new pizza place” I suggested as we walked swinging our arms back and forth. She shrugged and we carried on walking.
“Oh my god, look at the puppy!” She squealed letting go of my hand and running over to an elderly man who was walking a small dog. I followed her laughing at her excitement. She knelt on the floor stroking the puppy’s head making his tail wag frantically.
“Your dog is totally cute!” She said to the man. “What’s she called?” She asked standing back up and dusting off her jeans.
“She’s called Lily after the flower” He replied looking down at the puppy that was scrambling at Lily’s leg trying to get her attention again.
“I’m Lily too!” She said excited at the fact she had the same name as a cute animal. “Well anyways thank you for letting me stroke her” she added smiling at the man.
“Have a good night” The man waved walking away. Lily seized my hand again and smiled at me.
“You’re totally cute when you get excited” I laughed as she bounced down the street toward the restaurant.
“Im not cute, Im fucking metal!” She said sticking her tongue out to the side and making the devil horns with her hand.
“Sorry!” I said putting my hands up in the air, making her laugh. We walked the rest of the way to the restaurant in comfortable silence. When we got there I let go of her hand and opened the door so she could walk through. After about a minute the waiter led us to a booth in the corner of the restaurant, setting down two menus in front of us.
“Do you wanna share a pizza?” I asked looking up from the menu realizing I wasn’t actually that hungry.
“Okay” She smiled, making the butterflies in my stomach go crazy. We sat there in silence for a while trying to decide what pizza to have.
“See I like meat but im not sure if I love it, I just don’t think im ready for that type of commitment” She said dramatically making me choke on the lemonade I was drinking. I covered my hand with my mouth trying not the spit it everywhere which cause Lily to laugh even harder than she already was.
“Attractive” She giggled as I swallowed the drink, coughing.
“Always Babe, always” I joked winking. The waiter came over and took our order. I knocked over my drink and he began complaining at us. Lily rolled her eyes and looked over at another table as he began getting angrier
“Are you going to make a mess of my restaurant all night?” He said annoyed as he turned away, When he thought we were out of ear shot he muttered “children”
“Fuck you” Lily said flipping him off and standing up.
“Where are you going?” I asked as she grabbed her jacket.
“I’m not having him complain at us all night” She said extending her hand out so I could take it. I slid out of the booth and grabbed my jacket, walking towards the door hand in hand with Lily.
“Fuck you!” She said again as he walked out of the kitchen and the door closed behind us. We continued walking for a while and she led me into the park. We walked along the gravel path kicking stone and talking about anything we could think of. After a while we found a bench next to the pond and sat down.
“Sorry about the restaurant” Lily said looking at the ducks around the pond.
“It’s cool he was a dick” I said looking at her. She turned to me looking into my eyes with her Icy blue ones.
“Zacky?” She asked as a few people walked past us.
“Yeah” I said still looking into her eyes completely lost in them.
“Can I kiss you?” She whispered leaning closer. I leaned toward her and our lips connected sending shivers down my spine. She pulled away shortly after blushing in the dim light of the streetlamps. I let out a breath I didn’t even realise I was holding and smiled at her. We sat there silently looking into each other’s eyes when Lily broke the silence.
“I have to go home” She whispered looking down at our hands that were now linked together. She stood up pulling me up with her and I wrapped my arm around her shoulders. We walked in blissful silence her arm wrapped around my lower back. As we got closer to her house I felt a pang of sadness flow through my body. We wandered up her drive and to her front door, she pulled out her key and slipped it into the lock.
“Thanks for tonight” She smiled at me leaning against her door.
“We should do it again sometime” I said shoving my hands in my pockets as she opened her door. She nodded and walked through the door.
“Goodnight” She smiled closing it behind her. I sighed and turned to walk down the steps when I heard the door open and close again. A hand grabbed my arm spinning me around and pulling me down slightly so my lips crashed into theirs. She pulled away smiling and walked back inside. I stood there shocked for a moment registering what had just happened, a big smile on my face. Turning, I walked down the stairs and back down the street towards my house.
“Did you have fun sweetie?” My mom said from the couch as I slammed the door behind me.
“Yeah it was fun” I replied putting my jacket on the hook and walking into the living room.
“Oh yeah I can see that” She laughed raising her eyebrows. I looked at her extremely confused and she pointed to her mouth. I stood up and walked over to the mirror where I could see my lips had gone bright red, making my cheeks go almost the same colour with embarrassment. I frantically rubbed it off making her laugh at me again and continue reading her paper. I sighed and walked up the stairs flopping down onto my bed. She kissed me! She actually kissed me! I smiled to myself as I felt my eyes drifting closed. I looked over to the clock on the wall and it read 23:57. I pulled off my clothes leaving me in my boxers and climbed under the covers.
