Conjuring Her Deepest Fears

Chapter 13

Brian could do nothing but stare with his jaw dropped. "But...how...what?" Matt grinned. "Looks like Johnny actually came in handy this time. He taught my how to pick locks a long time ago." He looked down at his hand and rubbed his wrist. Brian looked up the stairs then back to Matt. "Man, untie me." Matt looked at him. "Why the fuck should I untie you?" he asked. Brian gave him a confused look. "Because, she'll fucking kill me. Dude, untie me." "Hell no. Free your own damn self. We agreed, Brian. I'll save myself without your help and you'll save yourself without my help." Brian couldn't believe what Matt was doing. "Do you seriously think I meant that?" he asked. "I don't care if you meant it or not. We agreed to it." Matt stood up and walked over to Brian. "You know what? Rain is right. You are pitiful. All of this is your fucking fault. All of it." Matt stood there in front of Brian glaring at him as he spoke. What the fuck is up with him? Brian thought. "Matt, what has gotten into you?" He laughed sarcastically. "Me? What's gotten into me? What's gotten into you? You're the one who murdered you're wife. I did nothing." "You helped me bury her, you fucking dick," Brian snapped. "No, I don't think I did. Remember? You buried her yourself." Matt was right. He did do the burying by himself. Matt just watched. "Matt, please," Brian begged. "Please don't leave me here to die." Matt smiled. "Reap what you sow, motherfucker." And with that Matt headed up the stairs. "You'll pay for this, you fucking asshole!" Brian shouted at him, then seconds later, Matt was gone.

Jimmy had made it back to Zacky's and the boys still sat in the living room. "I have a bad feeling. A really bad feeling. Did he mean he was going to hurt you or something?" Zacky asked Jimmy. "I don't know. He just said that I would get hurt. He seemed really uneasy, too. Like, nervous." "That's weird," Johnny said. "Yeah...really weird..." Zacky said, then thought for a moment. "Do you think it might have something to do with Rain? I mean, whenever you mention her around Brian he gets uncomfortable and just acts weird." Jimmy shrugged. "You know, it might be. Something really weird is going on. Rain isn't answering phone calls and she never comes to the door. It's always Brian. Rain used to always be the one to answer the home phone or the door. And nobody has seen her these past few days, either," Johnny said. Zacky sighed and put his head in his hands. "And then suddenly Matt disappears. What the fuck is going on?" Jimmy sighed. "I think we need to find Matt first. He might now what's going on. He's the only one that's talked to Brian." Zacky nodded. "Come on, Johnny. We're gonna go look for Matt." Johnny looked at Zacky and Jimmy. "Where the hell are we gonna look?" he asked. "I...I don't know. We just need to find him. Now, come on."
Johnny followed Zacky and Jimmy out of the house. "We should start by going to Johnny's Bar. He might be there," Jimmy suggested. And they went there, but no sign of Matt. They checked all the others bars. He wasn't at any of them. They checked the coffee shop, friend's houses, even looked around on the street. No sign of him anywhere. The boys eventually gave up and agreed to meet the next morning, then they all went home after searching for about three hours. But little did they know he was still at Brian's house.

"Oh, Brian," Rain sang as she made her way down the stairs. He lifted his head up and glared at her as she stopped in front of him. "Guess what we're gonna do? You're actually gonna get out of this basement." Brian raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you're confused. Okay. So, what we're gonna do is we are going to take you upstairs--" "We? Who's we?" Rain laughed. "Who do you think 'we' is, silly? Who's the only other person in this house. You need to learn how to use your brain, sweetheart." Brain widened his eyes. "No. Don't tell me..." "Haha. Yep. Oh, Matt! Could you come down here, please?" Moments later, down came Matt with a huge smirk on his face. "You called?" Rain smiled at him. Brian looked back and forth between the two. "Wha...Matt...how could you..." Matt turned to Brian. "Shut up," he growled then turned back to Rain. "Could you maybe rough him up a bit since I don't have big muscles like you?" Matt grinned at her, showing off his dimples. "Of course. Anything for a pretty lady like yourself." Brian thought he would gag. Was his dead wife really flirting with Matt...and was he actually flirting back? Matt turned to Brian and walked around the chair and began to untie him. Then Brian noticed, no one was in his way between him and the stairs. He could make a break for it as soon as Matt untied him. He could get out of here. Brian waited until the rope was finally loose enough. As soon as Matt dropped the rope, Brian bolted for the stairs. Well, he attempted to. After a few steps, Brian fell to the ground and groaned in pain. He realized that from lack of food and after being kicked around so much, he didn't have the energy to walk, not to mention run. He closed his eyes and laid there on the ground as Matt and Rain laughed at him. And in that moment he realized he didn't care anymore. He didn't care if his wife was dead, he didn't care if his best friend had betrayed him. Hell, he didn't care if Matt screwed his wife. He just wanted it to end. If they were going to kill him, then so be it. There wasn't anything he could do about it.
Then, Brian felt hands on his arms. "Get up, you fucking moron," Matt said then pulled him up on his feet but held onto him. "I don't think we'll have to rough him up. Haha." Rain laughed. "Nah. We can do that when we get him upstairs." Matt grinned and practically carried Brian up the steps into the living room then shoved him to the ground. "Maybe we should have a little fun with him," Matt said to Rain as Brian scooted back and leaned back against the couch. Matt pulled a knife out of his pocket and flipped it open. He knelt down by Brian and pressed the cold metal to his cheek. Matt formed an evil grin on his face. "I'll cut his tongue out." Then he laughed as Brian swallowed hard. "Look at you. You look like a fucking puppy on a doorstep." Matt stepped back and Rain stepped forward. "I'm tired of having you in this house. I'm just gonna get this over with." Rain turned to Matt. "What do you think we should do? Should we slit his throat, shoot him, what?" It seemed as if a lightbuld went off in his head and he turned to Rain. "We should light him on fire. A slow, painful death."
