Not a bad thing

Izzie’s POV
I had a mild concussion from the kick to the head, but that was all. Well not completely. I had a big dent in my ego too... I said some pretty embarrassing stuff to Matt. I had told him I didn’t know what I have said and that whatever it was, it had been the concussion talking. He had shrugged and had just laughed. Just like the rest of them. They just wouldn’t let go. Johnny put his hands on mine at every occasion he had, just to ask me if his were as soft as Matt’s, which of course they weren’t. Zacky was only apologizing to me, he was so sorry. I had told him over and over that I didn’t mind, that it was just an accident, but he wouldn’t believe me. Arin had brought me home that night and had come over a few times since. He was just the sweetest, bringing me something healthy, every time he came over. Lizzy has been over a few times too, she turned out to be living really close to me. As we already found out at the BBQ, we had a lot in common, so we talked a lot. She desperately needed a friend other than the boys. The Zacky thing was bugging her like crazy.

As for Brian and Lynn, they have been sneaking around. They seem to have forgotten that I both know them like the back of my hand. At the BBQ nobody had noticed that I had whispered something before I went out. Maybe Matt did, but he never let it show that he knew anything. Brian and Lynn on the other hand, had seen the look in my eyes and knew they were busted. They had come over separately, never together, and they both assured me it had been a onetime thing. Just to get it out of their system. I didn’t know who they were thinking to fool, but this wasn’t working on me. We’ll see where it goes.

I myself, was doing some sneaking around too. I had seen Matt a few times now. He had just come over and hung out. We watched a movie or just talked over coffee. We seemed to hit it off. As friends. Nothing more, nothing less. Even I could see that Matt would eventually break my heart if I was to fall for him. So I just kept it friendly. That was hard sometimes, no one could deny the chemistry between us. But this will have to do. I couldn’t tell Brian, he would just freak, he was clear to the guys about seeing me. He’s way too protective. And seeing how things are at this moment, I couldn’t tell Lynn either. She’d never think Matt was right and would tell Brian then, just to fix it. So I kept to myself and apparently, Matt was too.

Conveniently I had taken a few days of work after my breakup with Eric, so I had a lot of time getting to know everyone, but I did have to go back to work the day after tomorrow. It will be strange to change my daily routine back again, but I’m really looking forward to going back. Brian was throwing a last party tonight, not the last one ever, of course not, but it would be the closing party for my “introduction week” as he was calling it. He decided on a theme, everyone needs to come as superhero’s. It will be fun. Lynn, Lizzy and I were going as Charlie’s Angels, not really superhero’s, but come on, we want to look hot too and that just won’t work in a Hulk or Iron Man suit!

Tomorrow I will probably be hung over, so I decided to clean my house today. I had my music on shuffle, blasting through the speakers and I was rocking along to ‘Welcome to the family’. I had all the Avenged music on there too, I liked it, but it was so different from what I usually listened to. That fact was confirmed when after ‘Welcome to the family’, ‘Take back the night’ by Justin Timberlake came on. I had a big smile on my face, remembering the pop room Brian had in his house. I turned the volume up a little more and danced around the room. When the song was over I heard a chuckle from my door. I slowly turned around and saw the biggest grin underneath the most friendly eyes I’ve seen... and those dimples! “How long have you been standing there?” Matt roared with laughter “Long enough to have seen you do a mean ass wiggle.” I felt my face turn red, and I could have just died on the spot....

Matt’s POV
I was on my way to Izzie’s house. I have been there a lot the past few days. Just hanging out. I drove up to her house and saw that she had all her windows wide open and the door on the side of the beach was standing open too. I heard the end of ‘Welcome to the family’ blasting through her windows. The next song started... Justin Timberlake... Seriously? That woman needed some music education! I walked towards the door, already opening my mouth to tell her to shut that crap of, but then I saw her. Dancing through the room, singing a long, shaking her ass... She looked adorable. I couldn’t get myself to stop her, so I just stood there, leaning against the door frame and I felt my smile grow wider and wider. When the song ended I couldn’t hold it anymore, I chuckled. She freezed and turned around “How long have you been standing there?” I let out the laughs I’ve holding a few minutes now “Long enough to have seen you do a mean ass wiggle.” Her face turned pink and then bright red. I could see she was embarrassed. I walk towards her, putting my finger under her chin, forcing her to look up to me “Don’t, I enjoyed myself”. I winked. A small smile graced her face. She was still looking me in the eye, she licked her lips. Oh damn, I wanted to kiss her. I couldn’t, Brian warned me about her, he said I can’t be with her unless I’m death serious. She just got cheated on a week ago, she can’t be with someone like me. Anyway, She was the first girl I liked hanging out with, I didn’t want to lose that by being stupid.

I finally got my legs to do what I want, and moved away from her. She looked confused. I know she felt it too. She regained herself “Do you want something to drink? I need water” She walked towards her kitchen and I walked after her. “Yeah, a soda would be great. It’s hot today” Was I really talking about the weather now!? “I just came over to see if you need anything for you costume tonight, I am going to pick mine up in a bit and I thought, maybe you could come?” She smiled at me “No, I have everything I need and Lynn and Lizzy are coming over in an hour. I have to make sure everything is done in here. I don’t think I will be able to do anything tomorrow” She smiled. “ Are you girls sleeping over at Brian’s tonight?” She nodded “Yeah, he gave me the Justin room. Are you staying?” “I live really near Brian, so I probably won’t. But Brian said you make the best breakfast, so I will make sure I’m there tomorrow”

“IZZIE!! WHERE ARE YOU!?” I heard someone screaming. It was Lynn, she came into the kitchen and looked at us frowning. “Matt, what are you doing here?” I got up from my stool “I was just checking if Izzie needed anything for her costume, but I just heard you girls are all set.” I started walking for the door “See you girls tonight, I’ll be the one in green”.

Izzie’s POV
“You’re early” I said, when Matt had left the house. Lynn looked at me “Can’t I just hang out with my best friend unannounced? What are you trying to hide? Are you seeing Matt?” I felt my cheeks heat up. Damn! That happens all the time, especially when I don’t want to. “No I am not. He just came over for coffee earlier this week and we watched a movie one night. Nothing happened, we are starting to be friends. I’m totally able to see that he’s one of those guys.” Lynn looked at me, not really believing my story. “It’s true! And what are you interrogating me for? You’ve sneaking around with Brian, and didn’t tell me anything!” She looked at me, caught. She opened her mouth to argue with what I just said, but then she closed again. “You are right, we did hook up. But only once. I swear!” I looked at her, trying to figure out if she was lying to me. I didn’t really believe her, but she sounded sincere and above all, tormented. “All right, let’s say I believe you. Are you going to tell me the whole story now?” Lynn started to tell me about the BBQ. How Brian kissed her and how she wanted to stop, but well... I understood, I heard this story a million times before. Brian got what he wanted. “We said it would be this onetime thing. And I thought I was fine with that. But when I see him now, I just want him more. I can’t stand it! He invited me for drinks last night, took me to this bar. It was all great, until this girl came up and he just disappeared with her. Left me alone at the bar! After half an hour he got back, telling me about the girl like I was one of his friends! And you know what, I am jealous of that girl! It should have been me! Argh, I promised myself not to be this woman!” She let her head fall in her hands. She looked really frustrated. This was Brian’s handy work all right.

I heard a soft knock on the door, Lizzy came in. “How is everybody doing?” Lynn just let out a big sigh. “Brian did it again” I told her. “Ow Lynn, you should have known better!” Lynn snorted “Ha! You tell me now? Of course I should have known better, I couldn’t help it! And by the way, you should have known better with Zacky” Lizzy’s eyes shot at me “Don’t look at me, I didn’t tell her!” “No she didn’t, I just noticed you walk on eggshells around him, it’s unlike how I got to know you. So I guessed. Apparently I was right. And since we’re outing each other, maybe Izzie should be honest about her and Matt now” Lizzy and Lynn both looked at me. “No! Nothing happened! Really!” “But you wanted to?” said Lizzy. “I wanted to “ I said quietly.

We looked at each other, suddenly laughing hard. We had a hard time stopping. “Look at us. We are the coolest women in the world and we are letting some men decide how we feel. Let’s get dressed, let’s get even hotter and find us some nice guys at the party tonight. We will have fun!” I proclaimed. I stood on my couch, as if I were the queen herself. “Hail! Hail! Hail!” Lizzy and Lynn called. We laughed. “Let’s get something to eat and get dressed. Tonight will be legendary!” I jumped of my couch, walking towards Lynn and Lizzy, putting my hand forward “Girlpower?” Lynn and Lizzy both put their hands on mine “Girlpower!”
