Alpha and Omega

Matt stood in shock in his hotel doorway.
“What are doing here?” Matt asked, “You’re supposed to be dead… Val.”

An evil smirk appeared on Val’s face, “I’m might of, you know, broke out.”

“How did you get here? Pretty sure police would be tracking you.”

“I got friends in low places.”

“How did you know I was here?”

“I got resources.”

“What do you want?”

“You of course.”

“You HAD me and blew it. Why is it that all of sudden you want me again?”

“I made a huge mistake. Let me make it up to you… and come with me.”

“What if I don’t want to?”

“That would be YOU making a huge mistake.”

Matt took a long deep breath.

Val shrugged her shoulders, “Don’t come with me… fine… but the next time you see Brian might be him in the nice long mahogany wooden box.”

Matt’s eyes widen, “You wouldn’t shoot him.”

“You’re right. I wouldn’t. I’d make him suffer first before I kill him.”

“Leave. Brian. Alone.”

“Then come with me.”

Tears prickled at the corners of Matt’s eyes, “Can I… Can I at least say good bye to Brian?”

Val rolled her eyes, “I guess.”

Matt put on a shirt and then grabbed the hotel pad of paper and pen. Tears continuously ran down his cheeks as he wrote a note to Brian. Once finished, he set the pad, pen, and another item on the nightstand by his cell phone. “Leave all electronics here,” Val commanded as she continued to stand in the doorway. Matt looked over at Brian… deep asleep and softly snoring. Matt leaned over and kissed Brian’s cheek. Matt whispered into Brian’s ear, “I love you very much… and I’m sorry.” Matt stood back up and turned around. “All right then,” said Val, “Time to go.”

Brian woke up to find himself alone. “Mattie?” Brian called out. No response. He hopped out of bed, put on some clothes, and checked the entire hotel room. No Matt. Then, Brian spotted Matt’s cell phone. “Why would he leave this?” Brian muttered to himself as he picked up the cell phone. Then, he noticed the pad of paper. Brian set down the phone and picked up the pad of paper.

Brian

I had plans for you for tonight and the rest of our honeymoon, but unfortunately plans have changed. Go home without me. I can’t be with you. Someone has come back from the dead to take me away from you. I had to go with. Your life was threatened and I don’t want to lose you. Saying sorry doesn’t begin to describe how bad I feel doing this to you, but I’ll always put myself between you and danger. I left my wedding ring. Keep it for me until I hopefully return. I would want to wear it, but I’m afraid it might be taken away from me.

Tears filled Brian eyes as he tightly held the note. “You may have done this for me,” Brian muttered, “but I’ll find you Mattie… no matter what… because I love you… with all MY heart and soul… forever and always…”
