Alpha and Omega

When Matt’s eyes finally got used to the sunshine entering the bedroom window, he peeked at the alarm clock on the night stand.

7:35 a.m.

He was surprised that he was awake that early. Surprised about not being as tired out as Brian, who was curled up against Matt’s side with his head on Matt’s colored chest and his arm covered across Matt’s inked stomach, snoring softly as he continued to sleep. Both men covered with sweat and familiar stickiness. Especially having ‘I can’t believe you propose to me’ sex, followed by ‘You have no idea how much I love you’ sex, ending it off with ‘I’m still so fucken horny fuck me again’ sex. Of course neither one of them cared about the messiness because they could clean up in the shower… after the possible chance of making love first. Matt smiled on that thought before closing his eyes and attempted to get another round of sleep.

Brian woke up to a rather thunderous snore in his ear. He rolls his eyes at Matt before checking the clock.

2:24 p.m.

He was somewhat shocked that he slept in so much, but the throb in his butt reminded of why he slept in, although it wasn’t an unwanted throb. He smiled at the memories of last night. Brian snapped back to the present when another snore roared through the room. He softly giggled before quietly and carefully sliding out of bed, putting on a pair of boxer shorts, and out of the room. A yawn escaped from Brian as he sets up the coffee pot. A lazy smile appeared on Brian’s face as the smooth yet relaxing scent of the coffee flowed through the kitchen and enters his nose. A knock on the front door makes Brian snap to.
Brian opens the door to see Jimmy before him with a shocked look on his face. “Jimmy, you okay?” Brian asked. “I have some unbelievable news,” Jimmy answered. Brian motioned for Jimmy to come in. Jimmy walks in. Brian gives Jimmy a cup of coffee before joining him at the kitchen table. Jimmy takes a deep breath, “Leana’s pregnant.” Brian’s eyes widen a bit. “It’s kinda awesome yet kinda scary,” said Jimmy, “I mean, a kid has the power to change lives.” Brian takes a sip from his cup. “What if I’m not a good dad?” Jimmy asked. Brian snorted a chuckle, “I don’t see that being possible.” “Do you really think so?” asked Jimmy. “I know so,” said Brian. Something catches Jimmy’s eye. “More jewelry?” Jimmy asked. Brian cheeks blush to a bright red, “Well it’s…” Brian cleared his throat, “It’s an engagement ring.”
Jimmy’s jaw drops. “He proposed yesterday,” Brian explained, “I asked him what he wanted for his birthday and that is what he wanted.” Jimmy just stared at Brian. Brian cocked an eyebrow, “What?” “Well speaking of children,” Jimmy started to trail off. Then it hit Brian. He remembered something from when they were teenagers. Matt wanted to have kids someday… and Brian didn’t. “I guess that’s something you will have to talk about with him,” said Jimmy, “I just came by to tell you the news. Thanks for the coffee.”
Jimmy left and Brian still sat at the kitchen table. Then after a moment, Matt appeared into the kitchen. He was only wearing boxers. “I thought I smelled coffee,” he said. Matt poured himself a cup. Matt walked over to Brian and kissed him on the temple. “Something wrong babe?” Matt asked as he sat down at the table. “Jimmy came by,” said Brian, “They’re gonna have a baby.” Matt’s face began to glow, “Oh wow! That’s fantastic. They’re gonna have an awesome kid.” Brian’s face saddens. Matt is hit with the same realization. “Oh… oh Brian it’s okay,” said Matt. Brian shook his head. “Baby its okay,” Matt stated. “No its not,” Brian said, his voice beginning to break into sob. Brian stood up and walked to the coffee pot. Matt followed and grabbed Brian’s wrist. He pulled Brian to his chest. With his face buried in Matt’s chest, Brian continued to sob. “Brian baby please don’t cry,” Matt said softly, “I want to be with you and it doesn’t matter if our future together has kids in it or not. I still wanna be with you.” Brian wrapped his arms around Matt’s shoulders, his fingers fiddling with a few caramel curls at the back of Matt’s neck. “Mattie,” Brian sobbed. “Shhh its okay baby,” said Matt, “I’ll always love you.” Brian sniffled, “But… but…” “Its okay Bri,” said Matt, “Really it is.”
“But Matt…” Brian tried to speak. “I’m willing to give that up to be with you,” Matt said softly. “But then you’ll always wonder what might have been,” Brian sobbed, “You’d be a great dad… and… and…” “Brian,” said Matt, “It’s nothing to get worked up about… okay?” Brian sniffled again, “But, but Mattie…” “No more ‘buts’,” said Matt, “Everything will be alright.”
