Another Day Another Way To Prove Myself
I woke up with the sun shining down on my face. I rolled over and then sat up. The bed that Corey occupied was now empty and it made me sad. I wanted my only friend back... I pulled myself up and grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom for a nice long shower. I made sure the water was just right before stripping and stepping into the shower. The water ran down my back relaxing me some what. I finished up and dried myself off before putting on my clothes for the day and walking downstairs. Zacky was already waiting for me and we went to lift weights. After about 30 minutes of lifting, we headed into the room with the tread mills and he had me running. I looked over at the empty one Corey had ran in and I instantly sped up my running. I ran in a full sprint until I went 5 miles over what I was supposed to. I hopped off the machine and Zacky handed me some water. I sat down on the bench and began to drink.
"That was a good work out. Matt said he wants to see all of us once you were finished with your running."
"What does he want?" I asked setting my water down.
"I have no idea." We walked out of the room and into the living room where everyone else was.
"Now since you have trained pretty good I think it's time that you do some of the things we do. So Brian and you will be competing against each other."
"Competing? Like fighting or something?" I asked and he nodded.
"Your partner would have been Corey but his untimely death was a setback." I hung my head at the mention of Corey's name. Matt lead us all outside and into the yard before we watched Jimmy and Johnny fighting and Jimmy winning.
"Now Brian and Aerial." Matt said and we stood in front of each other. Brian had phased but I just stood there.
"Aerial you need to phase." I looked up and Matt and phase into my wolf form.
"Fight!" Matt commanded and Brian Jumped on me and easily pinned me to the ground. Hell I wasn't even in the mood to defend myself. Matt raised his hand and Brian got off me. I rolled onto my side and stood to my feet.
"Again. Aerial you need to fight back....Now Fight!" Matt commanded once again and I stayed away from Brian as he jumped around trying to get me.
"Come on Aerial!! Fight him!" Matt's words cut through me like the words my father used to use on me. Brian jumped at me again and I got right back at him. I must have gotten a little too aggressive because Jimmy, Johnny, and Zacky were breaking us up.
I seen the blood dripping down the nose of Brian and the look on Matt's face was like he was disappointed or angry at what I had done. I shook Zacky off of me and ran off into the woods. I stopped at the blood stained area where Corey took his last breath. I laid down and put my head down on my paws. I could hear them coming after me so I got up and ran towards a creek that only Corey and I knew about and laid down again. I lapped the water and stuck my paw down in it and flung water onto my head. I shook my head and heard a twig snap and I sat up. I looked around and seen no one. I turned back around and looked at myself in the water. My complexion was horrible and I never wanted to be this way. Why did I have to be a wolf? Why did Corey have to lose his life because of a bear?
I seen a green eyed wolf face in the water and I looked over to see Zacky standing there looking at me. He changed back into a human and sat down in the grass. I laid my head down in his lap. He ran his fingers through my soft black and white fur.
"Aerial...Matt isn't mad that you lost control against Brian. He was just trying to get you into the mood to fight." I looked up at him with my eyes dangerously close to tearing.
"It's okay Aerial...You can cry if you want too." I stood up and put my paws in his lap and he hugged my head to his chest. The tears that collected in my eyes spilled over and I tilted my head back and let out an agonizing cry of a howl. Zacky ran his hand down my side in comfort. When I finished crying he rocked me back and forth. I closed my eyes and before I knew it he had rocked me to sleep.

I looked down at Aerial and she fast asleep. I pulled her the rest of the way into my arms and stood up. I carried her all the way back to the house and laid her down on the couch where the others were finally home. Matt looked over at me and nodded for me to stay with her. I know Matt probably wanted to make her his own but I was growing feelings for this young wolf and I don't know if I could handle if Matt took her away from me. I sat down and brought her head into my lap as she slept silently in my lap and occasionally moving her back legs and grunting. I smiled at her dreaming and hoped it was a happy one.
