Oh My My My

9 Years Later ~

Matt watched AJ walk down the street towards him with a laughing grin on her face. The little girl he used to know now had a woman's figure, long light brown hair, and sparkling blue eyes. He was still about a head taller than her, as he was now eighteen.

I can't believe she's sixteen already, he thought. She's definitely not that little girl I used to see. However, her personality hadn't changed.

"Hey," she smiled, walking up to him. When she looked at him, she still had that wide-eyed twinkling gaze she had given him all those years ago. And she still looked at him, watching his eyes shine like pretty lights. Of course, now that they were older, their parrents would tease them more openly; however, neither Matt nor AJ believed they'd really fall in love. Though when they would protest, their mothers would still roll their eyes as AJ's mother muttered, "Oh my, my, my."

"Hey," Matt said, grinning back at her. "Come with me."

"Okay," AJ replied, following him to his black truck. It was getting late, but no matter what time it was, if Matt asked her to go somewhere with him, her answer was always yes. They both hopped in.

"Where are we going?" AJ asked, closing her door.

"You'll see," he smiled, driving down a dirt road. AJ rolled her window down, crossing her arms on the door and resting her chin on top of them, closing her eyes to feel the cool breeze on her face. Matt looked at her through the corner of his eye, then turned his gaze back to the road. He absolutely adored her. When they arrived, he pulled aside on the road and got out of the truck. AJ opened her eyes, searching the scene around them. She didn't know where they were. Matt walked around to the bed of the truck and pulled out a radio, turning on their favorite station. He put the radio on the hood as Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" popped on the station. AJ hopped out of the vehicle, following Matt to the other side of some jumping on his back. He caught her and spun around.

"I love creeks," she laughed, taking in the stream before them.

"I know," Matt grinned.

AJ hopped off his back and began chasing minnows and water spiders that were perched on the surface of the water. These were the only kind of spiders she was not afraid of. The two ran through the creek, danced in the water, and caught minnows until it was completely dark.

"What time do you think it is?" AJ yawned stepping into the grass and out of the water.

"Our moms are going to kill us, Matt. You know that, right?" she smiled.

"I know. We better get going." He turned the radio off and tossed it back into the bed of the truck before opening AJ's door and hopping into the driver's seat. He watched as AJ rested her head against the door, looking at him with sleepy eyes.

"Are you okay?" he asked her before starting the engine.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Are you?"

"I'm fine," he assured her as he backed out. Before he started on the road home, he looked at the clock on the dashboard. "Oh crap, Ali. It's two in the morning." She raised her eyebrows, but didn't look worried at all as she sat up.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Matt, I'm fine," she laughed lightly. "All I need is you next to me."

Matt sighed and smiled happily before reaching out his right hand to grab ahold of her's as he drove home.
