Hadley POV

I was awakened suddenly that night by a heavy knocking on the door of Nikki's and my apartment. I groaned and got up, hopefully to answer the door before whoever it was woke my roomie. I looked through the peephole to see a very drunk looking Matt on the other side. Well crap. I opened the door and just managed to catch him as he stumbled, my knees buckling under his sheer size.

"Uh, Matt? Can you stand? You're kind of crushing me," I whimpered before Matt nodded and straightened himself out.

"Hads, can I crash here tonight?" He groaned, holding his head. I thought the hangover didn't come till the morning after?

"Of course. Take my bed," I said, leading him to my room. He started to protest, but I wasn't having it, so I laid him down and covered him up before moving a chair to the bedside. I sat down. "So why are you trashed?" I asked, resting my elbows on my knees and my chin on my fists.

"I wanted to be numb to it all. She doesn't know...," he trailed, rolling over.

"Who is 'she'?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.

"Hadley," he sighed.

"Well what doesn't she know?" I questioned, wondering what he could possibly be talking about.

"I love 'er," he slurred.

"She loves you too, Matty," I said, wondering why he thought I didn't love him. I love all of the guys. But what if he meant something else? To my despair, Matt shook his head.

"No, no. Love love her."

Oh shit. "It's okay, Matty. Just get some sleep," I whispered, giving him a kiss on the forehead. Oh boy. What was I going to do now? I was just thinking about Brian and that kiss and now Matt...

Matt POV

Earlier that evening...
I headed straight to the bar from the Sweet Cherry Pie concert. I had too many feelings knew I needed a drink to numb some of the things that were running through my mind. I honestly don't remember how many drinks I had. I don't know how I got to Hadley's either. All I knew is that's where I wanted to be, no matter how detrimental to my state of mind. I don't remember much after I rang her doorbell, but I had a pounding headache in the morning...

Brian POV

"Has anyone seen Matt?" Zacky asked from my living room as we all just hung out for the day.

"Last I saw him was that night we all crashed at Zacky's," Johnny replied.

"Yeah, me too," Johnny added.

"I think I know where he is," I muttered before grabbing my keys and heading out, ignoring the guys' inquiries as to where I was going. I figured Matt was probably at Hadley's. That irritated me far more than it should have, and after I was in a good mood about that kiss last night. Hadley had kissed me back! And it was one hell of a kiss too. I drove over to Hadley's apartment and knocked on the door.

"Hey, Brian. She's in the kitchen," a sleepy Nikki yawned as she gestured toward the kitchen. I walked in and sure enough, there was Matt slumped over a cup of coffee while Hadley fussed over him.

"Matt, what are you doing here?" I asked, trying to keep my tone calm. "The guys and I have been wondering where the hell you've been."

"Bri, not so loud. Matt has a headache," Hadley shushed me.

I got a bit ticked off at that. Hadley loved taking care of people when they didn't feel well--she'd done it for me a million times. The girl should have been a nurse. But still, why was she treating a grown man like a kid?

"He's an adult, Hads. He can handle it. Matt, why didn't you tell us where you were headed? And why weren't you at the concert last night?"

"I was at the concert," Matt huffed, sending me a glare.

"You were?" Hadley asked, surprised.

"Yes, I was there. You were great, Hads. You too Nikki!" Matt added, taking another gulp of coffee.

"And you just got trashed by yourself afterwards? Why--" I stopped I bet I knew why Matt got wasted. He saw me kiss Hadley. "Matt, can I talk to you a second?"

"Brian Elwin Haner Junior, if you two start rough housing again, I'll put the whoopin' on both of you," Hadley warned, pointing her spatula in my face. I knew she was serious, but I couldn't help but laugh. She looked so cute with her spatula and apron, cooking breakfast.

"Okay, okay," I laughed, dragging Matt to her room.

"You saw me kiss Hadley last night, didn't you? That's why you got drunk," I said. Matt didn't have to give me an answer. The look on his face was enough. "So you just come over here drunk to leave Hadley to take care of you? Huh?"

"She's not yours, Brian," Matt said gruffly.

"And she's not yours either. Look, why don't we just fight fair on this? No more getting in each other's faces--I'm sick of it, man! Let's just back off and see who she picks," I suggested, crossing my arms.

"Alright, fine. But remember: I came to play." Matt asked, fist bumping Brian.

"May the best man win," I nodded as we headed out.

Sorry, I know it's short, but I didn't have much inspiration today. For the next chapter, I want you guys to help me write what happens next! After all, what's a story without readers? ;) So comment what you would like to see happen in the story and I'll do my best to incorporate it!
