“How the hell are we supposed to find those girls? And why the hell did you drag me into this?” Matt was asking a substantial amount of questions on the way to the airport and Zacky had no idea how to answer them. He just shrugged. But he definitely knew Jess had a point by asking him to bring Matt along. He just didn’t know what she was up to.

“Jess just asked me to call you to come with me, man, it’s not my fault. Maybe to control them cause they could get hysterical or something...” he had to make up something as they searched for the kind of girls Jess had descripted for him with the banner in hands. Yeah, she made him bring the banner too… Really awkward position for a rockstar but…anyway…

“Oh don’t tell me they are that kind of fans…” Matt was looking everywhere but stopped to throw a frowning look at his friend.

“I don’t know for sure. Let’s hope not.” Zacky shrugged again and he could tell Matt was getting pissed off at him.

They kept looking until they found three girls talking a bit loud close to the landing area. They decided to wait to see if they would come to them by the banner sight.

“How can she do that to us!! We took a few days off together, flew over to US just to cherish her premiere and she didn’t even bother to pick us up! Unbelievable!” Kim was complaining and excessively gesturing since they found each other after their flights landed there. Meike and Rye could only trade disappointed frowns.

“Well, she wouldn’t just leave us alone here on a foreign country… I guess everything is under control, Kim. Let’s just… try to find someone that can…” Rye was trying to calm her friend when her eyes caught a glimpse of someone she knew better. She could distinguish that loud voice in kilometers if it was needed, in fact. And he was talking with another well-known green eyed guy. What the… “…that can surprise us, like she said…”

Rye felt her heart racing and hands soaking but didn’t make a single move to denounce what she had seen. She had other worries now.
Meike, on the other hand, noticed Rye’s fixed gaze on a point behind her back while Kim kept blabbering about how she wanted to pick the next flight back home now if no one was showing up for them.

“Rye? Are you okay? Saw a ghost or something?” Meike turned her back to follow Rye’s look and…yeah, she found exactly what was getting all her friend’s attention. Those aviators. That smile. Those dimpl…

“Oh my god, guys, don’t look now but… No, okay, I’m just seeing things cause I’ve been on a plane for too damn long now. But aren’t they…” Kim was the last one to find the best landscape they could ever ask for being on California.

“Yeah I…guess they really are…” Rye forgot her jaw hanged open.

“…coming towards us… Oh my god, what is that all about!? They are holding a…” Kim was the next one on the line to get hit by their honorable presence. Of course her mouth opened right away.

“…a sign with…” Meike completed, too flabbergasted to finish her sentence.

“…our names on it…” Rye felt her knees tremble when she finally understood. ‘Prepare to be surprised ;)’ She wasn’t ready for that kind of surprise. In fact, neither of them was.
They stood frozen, side by side, watching as the two rockstars were coming in complete slow motion towards them, inside their own heads obviously. The slow effect would only cease when Matt set his sunglasses off with a huge grin pointing at them.

“Excuse me…are you…” Zacky held the banner in their sights. This wasn’t enough diversion to take the ladies popped glares away from the dimpled guy. They seemed completely hypnotized with silly smiles. “Hey, down here girls! Can you understand me? Fuck, they don’t speak english at all, man…”

“No dude…They know us! It’s just what I like to call ‘Matt effect’.” He mumbled at his friend with a quick wink and a cocky smile. Zacky frowned and grimaced at that stupid thing he had never heard before from Shadows’ mouth. “Hey girls, are you Kim, Rye and Meike?”

The three mesmerized girls only nodded her heads really slowly in agreement to Matt’s question. They couldn’t believe their sights.



“Oh…now I get why you are here…” Zack rolled his eyes and waved one of his hands in front of the girls. With that, they finally managed to wake up from the apparent coma state they were in. “Nice to meet you all, I hope you had a safe trip. You probably know us, right?”

They nodded again, now trying to pay attention to the talkative one. No words could be spoken by the three tourists yet.

“So… Jess asked me to come by to pick you up, she will be busier than she thought today. Oh, by the way, yeah, I’m her boyfriend.” He showed his hand to Meike, Kim and Rye following their line order with a discreet smile.

Matt followed suit but went straight for the famous cheek-kiss-and-hug greeting for the girls’ delight. “Hmm, let me guess, you are…”

“Meike.” She answered before he could guess. He smiled and gave her a kiss.
Meike flushed instantly; that kiss was enough for her to feel the weight of her ring on her right hand. She sighed as trying to ignore the fact that Matt smelled too good to be true.

“And you… You look like…Kim?” she nodded.

Kim felt the same as Meike, and since nothing could hold her back from enjoying that moment, she took the chance to move her hand to his left shoulder and slightly caress his firm bicep while he pecked her on the cheek. With a million emotions rushing through her body, she could only think of how many other parts of his body could be as hard as his arm – his abs, for instance. Yeah, that’s right….his abs.

“Oh and you…must be Rye, ‘right’?” he chuckled at his own joke.

Rye hesitated and stepped back at first but then she gave in to Matt’s approach. He giggled at her cute shyness, she couldn’t look at his eyes after he kissed her. She felt her surface burn and started to wait for the time she would simply wake up from just another dream, before it could turn into a nightmare anytime. But, oddly, she never felt more awake than now.

“So… shall we?” Zack asked in a hurry, looking at his watch. He was sure all those greetings took too long. They were late for the lunch reservations already.

The guys helped them with the bags on their way to the car and they were still speechless as chatty as they were before that Avenged Sevenfold knockout they received. The only thing Kim could mimic with her mouth wide open was:

“BOYFRIEND?” she pointed repeatedly at Zack’s back.

Rye and Meike shrugged just as startled as Kim was.

“How could she not tell us? I mean… it’s freaking Matt and Zack standing in front of us!! I hope she was aware of the fact she could’ve given us a slight heart attack or a stroke, nothing much… ><” Kim texted to her friends as she didn’t want to expose her dissatisfaction out loud. They were sitting on a table at a fancy restaurant close to the beach just waiting for Jess. The Auditorium was just a few blocks from there.

“Oh god, you noticed Matt’s cologne?” Meike had her cheeks red and eyes opened wide to both girls sitting on her side. They nodded. Kim even breathed heavily with a grin and a quick blink of her eyes.

“This silence is so awkward, should we try to make a conversation with them?” Rye had so many questions on the tip of her mouth and she imagined this moment she could spend with her favorite singer for so many times before. But she wouldn’t be the first to start talking in there. She would never do that. The girls agreed again. “So…who’s starting?”

“Let’s flip a coin or something.” Kim shrugged.

“We are 3, Kim, how are we supposed to…” Meike stopped typing as soon as she noticed the two men in front of them starting to chat discreetly. They just ended the virtual conversation to try to listen, still looking at their phones to disguise their meddling.

“So…how’s everything with Val?” Zack began.

“Well…when I landed my feet inside my house finally, we had a fight. And the curious part is I can’t even remember the motive. Couldn’t sleep on my own bed at my first night back home…” he shook his head staring at the table.

The girls looked at each other trying to hold their laughs, except for Rye that sent a disapproval look to her friends. The guys didn’t seem to notice it anyway.

“You can always crash on my place...” Zacky drank a sip of his coke.

“To hear you and Jess having your 3-months-delayed wild sex? No, thanks man.” He cackled ironically. “And that’s what I should be doing with my fiancé right now, trying to make amends for something I can’t recall. Why didn’t you call Brian instead of me?”

“Hmm… I guess I know why Jess asked me to bring you.” Zack cleared his throat, adjusted on his seat a little and pointed forward, making Matt notice three eavesdropper girls pretending to be on their cellphones and diverting their gazes from him to look back at their own screens. “‘Matt effect’ huh?”

“Ohhhh...” he smiled without thinking about preventing his dimples from showing off. The girls felt a twitch on their womb every time he did that. But he had no idea his magic worked so intensely on them like that. “So I’m their favorite? I guess I can have my fun with that!” he licked his pierced lip in a smirk, having a few second thoughts.

“Don’t get too cocky about it, ok? It doesn’t work with every woman in the planet, you know? Thank god for that!” he drank his coke again and soon after he caught a glimpse of a golden haired woman approaching their tables. All he wanted to see now.

For Zacky’s misfortune, Jess didn’t even look at him. She went straight to her friends and they covered her with long lasting hugs and kisses.

“Oh my god, I missed you girls so much!! It’s been so long!!” they could hear Jess’ muffled voice in between their big hug. Zack and Matt traded glances and joined them, finishing the big embrace with 4 strong and tattooed arms smashing the girls inside it. They all screamed and laughed as the entire place watched them with frowns.

“I need air here!!” Rye screamed and the heap of people broke the embrace instantly, trying to help her breathe properly. Zacky finally kissed his girlfriend as they all kept giggling.

Matt brought his untouched glass of water and handed to Rye with a lovely wink. She thought she would drown on that water after feeling the man of her dreams pressing his tight body against her during that hug.

“So tell me girls, how was the flight?!”

“The flightS, plural you mean, right? We all had to stop over before finally taking the right flight to US. We found each other at the landing area.” Kim stated still a bit annoyed with Jess by not letting them know the news before.

“Oh yeah, Kim, sorry, I forgot! There’s so much going on in my head now that…”

“Okay, skip this part we are all tired of hearing and let’s go straight to the point, miss Jessica!” she seemed angry now, but it was just her way. “You… Zacky V… sitting in a tree???” that made them all laugh as they were sitting back on the table. Jess was glad that Zacky wasn’t paying attention to them, it was pure girl talk now. “You’re not gonna make us finish that stupid song, are you?”

“NO, no, please!” Jess raised her palms. She looked at each of them with a silly grin only someone in love can show. “So sorry girls, I just… I wanted to surprise you. If I had told you before you wouldn’t believe me, would you?”

“Oh…if you had told us and showed us a picture or something of course we would believe.” Rye tried.

“Yeah, why the hell didn’t you send us a pic of Zacky’s snow white butt with you showing your thumbs up on the side? We would certainly believe and have a little delight as well.” Jess gave Kim a slight knee blow with her eyes popped open. She nodded negatively, trying to make Kim stop with all the insinuations in front of the guys. But Jess knew well how she would react to them from the beginning. No surprise in there. That’s exactly why she asked Matt to come along. Jess knew better how to tame her friends and keep their eyes away from her snow white man using Matt.

“You live permanently on Huntington for how many years now? You are a musician, I mean… the odds were at your favor.” Meike continued. “And you gotta tell us everything!”

“Yeah Mei, long and good story and I’ll tell it all with details later, I promise. Now I’m starving and you girls must be too! Let’s order?” Jess asked loud and everybody agreed.

“Allright, if you want to eat, okay by me, but I wish I could see some really nice pictures first to calm my startled emotions, cause I know you have them somewhere on your phone…” Kim didn’t seem to give up playing the teaser.

“Just… get a grip and I promise I’ll try to make your trip here worth the trouble, better now?” Jess almost mumbled to her friends with a smirk. They traded glances with eyebrows raised in interest and finally agree. Kim got completely quiet with that tempting offer.

That should work out to control them, Jess thought and breathed in relief.

At least for a few hours…

“Please, honey, please, it’s just a tiny something for your girl you don’t see in three months. Remember, you have to make it up to me!”

“What I did last night on top of that piano wasn’t enough for you? Wow, guess you are greedier than I thought…” he resisted but Jess’ hand grabbed the sides of his head in a sweet move. She noticed he was using her favorite cologne, suit and a black bow tie he knew she loved. Just perfect!

“Are you out of your mind? What you made me feel last night, twice by the way, my man, impossible to forget or overcome it. Believe in my words.” She closed her eyes slowly and attached their lips together in a deep kiss. Zacky groaned when their tongues met.

He just wanted to take her again there, on the backstage this time, in front of all those fancy-dressed musicians. She looked stunning like always on that long shining black dress and he was glad she didn’t put lipstick on yet, cause he would be all stained with it by now.

“Okay, I’ll do it. I’ll ask him. But I can’t guarantee he will accept this, ok? And you owe me now big time!” he got surrendered by her girl’s charm. Her smile could make his knees tremble so easily.

“Yes!! Thanks, honey, you won’t regret it! Cause I know exactly what you need from me. I can’t wait for tasting my favorite lollipop flavor again later…” she mumbled on his ear and he felt shivers . “A little bird told me about how you enjoyed my work down there.” He pulled away and felt his cheeks burning.

“I’m gonna kill that woman!! What more she has been telling you about me that I don’t know?” he was constrained, afraid that Emily had told her about the dream. Jess just chuckled, trying to bring him closer to her arms again.

“Oh Z, c’mon, Emily didn’t tell me more than I needed to know. She just informed me about a certain dream you had on the bus and…” he placed his palms on his face immediately.

“I swear Jimmy will be girl less in a few seconds!!” Jess couldn’t stop laughing.

“Aw, you have no idea how cute you are looking embarrassed with red cheeks. It’s okay, I missed you too, silly boy.” She grabbed his face again and kissed him lingeringly.

“Hey Jess, sorry to interrupt but… we have 5 minutes to go onstage! Be ready!” the maestro announced.

“Oh, ok sr.!” now she was the one wearing an embarrassed look on her face. “Z, you gotta go find the others, I’ll see you later, okay? Gotta finish my makeup and concentrate here.” She kissed him again quickly and he turned his back to get out. But he stopped for a second.

“Go to that stage and just blow our minds off, ok!? And never forget I’ll be drooling in the audience as your number zero fan.” he landed his intense green gaze on her gray for one more time and decided he would just say it. “I love you.”

She showed the biggest and sweetest smile he had ever seen.

“Love you too.” She winked and he grinned once more to finally turn his back and walk through the out door.

Zacky soon spotted the long line of chairs occupied by his big family and found his own seat, with Kim by one side and Matt by the other. Of course Kim would love to seat by Matt’s side but she imagined that chair was reserved for his fiancé. Turns out it wasn’t…

“Where’s Val?”

“She still pissed and decided not to come. Now I’m the one pissed at her but anyway… let’s not talk about her now, please. All I know is that I'm staying at your place tonight.” Matt sighed and fixed his tie on his neck.

“Oh okay. My house is a freaking hotel now. Luckily I have plenty of rooms for you and our three guests. So… I gotta ask you something, man.” Zack noticed Kim wasn’t eavesdropping anymore and continued. “Jess told me their friends are all journalists and…they hoped they could get an exclusive interview with you later, what you think?”

“Well…really? I was kinda hoping I could get some rest for this month but…not happening, right? What I don’t do for the sake of this band…”

“This could be good for our exposure around Europe and Asia, right?” Zack felt horrible for lying to his friend but one thing crossed his mind and gave him certainty to keep on doing this: Jess’ ‘repayment’ later. He had to loosen his tie at that thought. “And what harm can a simply interview do to you? They are just some girls doing their jobs.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know, I shouldn’t be scared of them, right?” he smiled nervously.

“No, of course not!” Zacky looked at Matt trying to read him. “Are you?” he looked back, making all the efforts to disguise his tension.

“What? Me? Afraid of three interviewers? Come oonn, Z!!!” Matt slapped Zack’s leg and diverted his look. Discreetly, he loosened his tie a bit too.

Suddenly the lights went off and a few notes from a trumpet announced the concert was about to start in a few minutes. Zacky was ready to clap his hands and whistle for his girl on the stage when he noticed a pair of eyes on top of him.

“Hey! Are you…enjoying California so far?” he tried to start a conversation with the intimidating blond woman seating by his side.

“Don’t, Vengeance! Don’t even start with your small talk at me.” Kim frowned and began to whisper. “Let’s get to the point! I know enough about rockstars' modus operandi and you better know we might look like delicate girls but we do know some karate moves. So what are your intentions with my beloved friend really?”

The second trumpet sounded again and the orchestra finally entered the stage. Zacky just gave a half-hearted smile at Kim and started clapping his hands, without answering. Kim clapped too and pretended she forgot her question. But she would never forget it that easily.
