You Think You've Got It, Don'tcha?

Chapter Thirty Seven

I was off of my game today. Today has been a total car accident. After the argument with Ryden I felt weird. She was leaving because I was being an ass. I need my freedom though. I can't be held down. I'm still going to find a way to be in my kid's life. Even if she was moving back. Maybe I'll put off the band and the guys until he or she grew older.. I dunno. I needed to think of something. The batting cage wasn't helping my concentrate, but only angering me and making me more upset. After the balls stopped, I reached into my pocket and checked my phone. A text from Ryden, and a text from Matthew. Ryden's read:

"I'm already gone and on my way. Don't worry about me anymore."

And my heart nearly shattered. I had found a way to push away the one I loved only to make her never come back again. It was final, she had said so herself that she was leaving and I had no way of stopping her; when she wants something, she'll do nothing but find a way to get it, and she did. I sighed, tossing my bat to the ground and I ran my fingers through my hair. I really fucked it up. I scrolled down to read Matthew's message.

"Gonna go out tonight. You coming or what?" It read. I nodded to myself, replying back with a, "Yeah, let me get ready." Before stuffing my phone back into my pocket. I picked up my bat and I took off my gloves, stuffing them into my pocket as well, and I locked up the batting cage.

Matt's POV:

I got Matthew's response almost an hour after sending it. Which made me hope that he hadn't ran to my house to see if I were there or not. He had a spare key incase anything happened. Maybe I need to change the locks..

I looked over at Ryden, who had just finished her food, and she took a drink of her tea. "See? What did I tell you? Vegan is great." I said. She smiled with a nod.

"It is." She agreed. I grinned more and got up, pushing my chair in.

"I'm going out with Zack tonight. Gonna give you a little more time to move in, make yourself comfortable." I said. She looked up at me.

"Where are you guys going?" she asked, pushing in her chair as well. I grabbed a $20, leaving it on the table and I walked with her back to my car.

"We're going over to Johnny's." I said, unlocking the doors and getting in. I waited for her to get in and buckle up before starting the car and pulling out of the driveway. "I know he's a little out of it right now. It's the least I can do for him."

"He's a sappy drunk." She mumbled underneath her breath. I nodded to myself and said nothing, because she said it at a volume of which I wasn't meant to hear. She spoke up. "He'll end up drunk texting me and telling me how much he misses me."

"Nah. I'll be taking his phone for the night and keeping it till her sobers up tomorrow." I said, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel. "I know how he gets when he's drunk. He either rages, or he cries. Sometimes both." i told her.

"I know.." She sunk into her seat with a sigh. "I miss him already. I'm not gonna be able to do this."

"Yeah you will." I assured her. "You're a strong, hormonal woman. You can keep your cool for a week or two to see what he does without you."

"What if he goes off with Gena or something? Or that new model he's got for his line... She's got the biggest nose.." She said. I chuckled and shook my head.

"It's gonna be fine." I said. "Just relax. Take a bath when you get home. I'm sure you have bath salts or something you can use somewhere." I said as I kept driving.

"Just the ones that Zack bought me earlier today. He took me shopping after my appointment." She said, straightening up and unbuckling after we reached my home. I shrugged.

"Whatever makes you feel better." I said, tossing her the house key. "unlock it so you can go inside and then lock the door back before closing it and hand me back the key." I said. I watched her as she ran up to the house, unlocking it and she ran back with the key.

"Here." She said, tossing it through the open car window. I rose my keys to her.

"Don't have too much fun without me." I grinned, before starting the car and pulling out the driveway again.

Ryden's POV:

I did what he said and I locked the door once I was inside. I looked around his house. It wasn't too big. Just a little smaller that Zack's. I don't understand how he had such a big house when it was only himself living in it. I walked around, looking in the kitchen, and looking in his bedroom. Every was plaid. Or modern. I had never seen anything like it before. After snooping, I walked to the bathroom, grabbing a towel from the rack and tossing it into the sink. No one was home, so I'd just walk around in it til he got home, or so.

I turned on the water, making sure it was the right temperature to my liking, and I stripped down completely, keeping my hair in a bun so it wouldn't get wet. I got in slowly and when I was completely in, I laid my head back, realizing that I had forgotten the bath salt.

Damn it.

I sighed, closing my eyes. Oh well. There's always next time, I thought. I nodded to myself and tried relaxing, running my hands down both of my arms and squeezing them, then moved to the back of my neck, where I rubbed the sides of it. It felt amazing. I smiled as I kept rubbing my neck and hummed softly. It wasn't so sore anymore, thank god. I just wished that it was Zack's hands instead of my own. I miss his touch already, I miss everything already. He ruined me. I shook my head. I'm not supposed to miss this.

I stopped rubbing my neck and sighed again. After a moment I decided to actually take a bath instead of just sitting there, so I started to wash myself off. I felt so much better, and much cleaner. Time for bed.
