My Blood Lines Are With You

I'm Going Home

It's been 8 years since I left Huntington Beach, California and 4 years since I lift the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute with my certification to be a Motorcycle Electrian. While I was at MMI, I met a great man. He was so loving and sweet and just had something about him that drew me but after college and I was looking for a job to use my certification on, Roe started getting some kind of attitude with me. As the years progressed, his words and attitude became physical and I had to go to work everyday with a black eye and tell my co-worker and friend that I had fell. She didn't believe it of course and after a lot of poking me to get me to spill what actually was happening, she formed a plan which I agreed to. She would have me give her some of my money and she would put it into a bank account where I could get in it and withdrawl enough to get me back to California. It took about a year but I finally got enough saved up.

I had put on my uniform for the shop I'm working at and it was all planned. My friend, Lee was going to tell my boss about me leaving Arizona and going back home to Huntington Beach. I left my room and seen Roe sitting in front of the TV like always with a beer in hand. I grabbed my keys and wallet before going to the door.

"I'll be home later." I said opening the door but Roe didn't say anything. I had packed my things yesterday and put them into the trunk of my car so I wouldn't have to come back. All I was going to do is go to my work place and turn in my jumpsuit and leave the state.

I shut the door behind me and looked several times behind me before getting into the car. I started up the car and went pulled down to the end of the Apartment complex and opened the mailbox leaving a note inside for Roe to find. He never let me go to the mailbox so I knew he would see it. I pulled away from my mailbox and drove to work. It didn't take long because Roe didn't want me far away from home but he'll be for one hell of a surprise when I don't return tonight. I had even taken the liberty in deactivating the phone he had given me and activating the one I had for years.

It had all the numbers from the guys and girls I was so close to back in California and it also had Lee's number in there. I pulled into the parking lot of the shop and parked next to Lee's car. I got out and took off the jumpsuit were I was wearing my everyday clothes and folded it up neatly. I walked into the shop getting a million hello's from the other workers. I went over to my boss's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in." I heard and I opened the door looking around the room. I shut the door behind me and Mr. Rawlings quit typing long enough to look up at me.

"Oh Roxy just put your uniform over on the table with the others and sign this to say that you have returned it." I nodded and laid the uniform on the table and signed my name to the sheet.

"We are going to miss you Roxy. You were one hell of a worker."

"Thank you sir but it's about time I go back home and find a job there." I said smiling.

"I wish you luck in your future." I nodded and left his office and went into the show where Lee was working on the engine of a motorcycle. I tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around smiling. She picked up a shop rag and wiped her hands clean of the grease and oil that covered them.

"I'm going to miss you Roxy."

"I'll miss you too Lee." I said hugging her tightly.

"I'll be sure to come out and see you when I get some vacation time."

"Good. You'll love Huntington Beach and my family is so great." I said smiling and holding her by the shoulders.

"I bet they are and I can't wait to get out there and meet them one day but right now, you need to head on out of here before Roe comes out here to see if you're actually at work."

"You're right!" I said running out of the shop and waving to Lee as I left the garage. I got into my car and pulled out of the space and headed to the interstate that all the way to Huntington. I pulled off the enter ramp and turned my radio up loud blaring Daughtry's Home and singing right along with it. It's been too long of a time where I've actually been happy and the sooner I get back to my home in Huntington Beach the better.
