I Just Need To Know
When we had gotten back to California, Brian was very persistent in me not taking any more cases for a while but I refused. I needed to keep myself busy so I wouldn’t sit and think about my mother being…dead but he worked hard and nagged on me until I told him I would take a break for at least a month. Now I’m trying to figure what else I could do to keep my mind off of everything that’s happened. I’ve went over the tapes of my previous contacts with demonic entities and seen what Jase and Angel were so worried about. I can’t remember any of what happened after certain points in the videos but now I see what’s happened. No wonder Angel hates it when I contact a spirit to get them out.
“Everyone is worried about you Nix.” I jumped in shock when Jimmy appeared in the corner of the room. “Damn you sure do know how to scare the living shit out of someone!” I said holding my chest.
“I’m sorry. What are you looking at?”
“Old investigation tapes.” I said looking back down at my computer.
“That must be an exciting line of work.”
“It can be at times. I mean Angel and Jase don’t like it when I contact an demonic entity.” I said sighing and closing the laptop.
“I know. Your father mentioned what happens when they drain you.”
“Maybe you can tell me something Jimmy.” I said looking over at him as he sat down on the end of the bed with me.
“Sure.”
“How is my dad? I mean has he come in contact with my mom?” I asked in a wanting to know tone.
“Yes they have and your dad asked me to tell you that…that the phone call will be coming soon.”
“What phone call?” I asked curiously.
“He didn’t say. All he said was to tell you that the phone call will be coming soon.”
“Answer me this: Will it be a good phone call or bad?” I asked.
“He didn’t say.”
“Why does he always talk in riddles?” I asked again.
“He didn’t say.” Jimmy and I said together before laughing.
“I need to be going Nix. I’ll tell your mom and dad that you said hello.”
“Tell them I miss them and I love them too.” I said smiling.
“Of course.” I watched as he disappeared as quickly as he appeared. What in hell kind of riddle is the phone call will be coming soon? Now this is making me worry. I swear I’ll be looking at my phone every minute just to see if I’ve gotten a call or not.
