Seize The Day or Die Regretting.

Chapter 16: Root Beer and Super Noodles.

~Heather~
When I left from work Melissa gave me a lift home after we went to lunch at a local Deli, I had a works cold cut which had a little bit of every meat and American cheddar cheese with extra pickles and a cold cup of cola. We talked about how we’re going to handle this if things don’t go well and if they do go well. She also tried to take my mind off of this whole situation by talking about going away with her man for the long weekend. I couldn’t help but laugh at the way she said it. She knows how to make me laugh when I need it. And that’s really nice. Elise is the friend that I can confide in for the best, most mature advice. And Georgia is that friend that I don’t know why I’m friends with or how but it just is. It is what it is and I’m not complaining.
Okay so dinner didn’t turn out like I expected it, we didn’t really have anything to make a nice romantic dinner so instead I made super noodles with grilled cheese. I spent most of the evening cleaning the house and worrying about how this night will go. I got a text from Brian just after eight, he said he was on his way home so that’s when I decided to begin to cook dinner and set the table. Super noodles take ten minutes to cook and the grilled cheese didn’t take that long either. I had set the table with candles and a little vase of flowers, the lights were dimmed down low and I was wearing a nice summer dress that I wasn’t going to fit for much longer. I’m already a bit chubby even in a loose fitting dress like this and that’s what worries me. If I don’t tell him tonight, how long can I go without telling him and without him noticing anything different? I don’t want him to freak out and do something irrational. That’s the worst case scenario; I wouldn’t be able to live without him if things do go bad. I don’t want my kid to have to split a life because mom told dad and dad freaked out and left. I don’t want to have a broken family for my baby. That would be unfair for him or her. Why should the baby suffer for something mom and dad did?It just doesn’t make sense to me. I know that I might not get a happily ever after. That’s always a possibility and that scares me deeply.
For most of the day I’ve had to sit down to do things such as folding laundry and worrying about things because I’m so sore, far too sore to always be moving around. My lower back and crotch and hips were sore. And I’ve been sick most of the afternoon. But right now I’m feeling better. The only people that know are the three women that were in the room with me when I took the tests. I even bought more tests to do at home if Brian doesn’t believe me when I say I am even though I have the one test we did earlier.
My heart began to race when I heard a car pull into the parking lot in front of our apartment. My stomach began to do flip as I went to the front door to greet him, like a puppy greeting its owner when they come home.
I opened the door to see my very beautiful boyfriend coming up to the door with his suit case and blazer hanging off of his arm. His tie was loosened and his shirt hung open a little bit. He didn’t look as tired as I thought he would so at least he probably won’t have a temper tantrum when I tell him. His white smile lit up the apartment as he greeted me with a quick kiss. That made all the nervousness disappeared and all was good once again.
“Hey babe, how was work?” I asked curiously with a gentle voice. He sighed and put his suit case down by the door.
“It was good; I have to be in early tomorrow.” He said sullenly. I felt slightly saddened by that because it means tomorrow we can’t do breakfast together. I brushed away that sad feeling and smiled as I led him into the living room. When he saw what I’ve done for him they glowed with glee and a smile swept across his face.
“What’s all this?” He asked looked down at me, wrapping his arms around me lightly. I smiled even wider and pulled myself closer to him.
“Well, I figured since you and I have been working so hard, we’ve had no time for proper romance and our relationship needs proper romance so I hope you like super noodles and grilled cheese.” I said standing on my toes to press my lips to his lightly. He smiled against the kiss and held me close.
“You are so amazing;” He kissed my lips sweetly.
“-You did all of this for me.” Another kiss.
“-And it’s perfect.” He kissed my lips tenderly and tangled his fingers in my hair before pulling away again. His deep brown eyes gleamed with lust and ecstasy. A cheeky smirk crossed his face happily and he picked me up bridal style. I giggled flirtatiously at the suddenness of him sweeping me off my feet.
“But I’ve got a better idea.” He said lustfully. I felt blush heat up my cheeks as I looked at him with a small smile. I looked at the candle light dinner that I had made for us then I looked back at him soulfully.
“What about dinner?” I asked softly. I was genuinely concerned about the dinner I spent time on making and preparing for him. He turned to look at the dinner table before grinning from ear to ear at me, his brown eyes beaming with desire and ambition.
“Let’s call this an appetizer.” He said with a low voice as he carried me off into the bedroom, he was less than gentle when he put me down. It only took him one big swoop and I was completely naked. I was wearing a strapless dress so he grabbed the top of my underwear and pulled down quickly. He eagerly undid his dress pants and pulled them down along with his red boxer shorts. It worried me that he was going to wrinkle his dress pants and I’d have to iron them. He never even bothered with his shirt so the slightly big shirt dangled down to cover everything. I’d completely forgotten how sore I was until he buried himself inside me. I winced painfully, tightly closing my eyes. My fingers balled up the bedding. His lips crushed mine in excitement. He’s kissed me like alot before but never ever like this. It seemed so familiar how our lips moulded together in such a passionate way. He ran his hands through my hair and down the back of my neck. Mine stayed where they were, on his lower back. Having his skin against mine was like fire and ice colliding. My skin was ice cold while his was very warm. He kissed the nape of my neck softly, feeling the goose bumps rise on my skin. I let out a small giggle.
About two rounds later we decided that it was time to give it a rest. I held him tight in my arms as we enjoyed the night alone. It was really quiet, I’m sure we’ll both get used to having little kids running around screaming. There were no sounds of the kids watching cartoons or a baby crying. It was dead silence. Well actually most of the night there was dead silence.
He rested beside me peacefully, my arms wrapped around his body. I’d hate to disturb him even though I know he’s still awake. His head rested over my heart so he was listening to my heart beat. Now was the time to tell him, it’s either now or never. I inhaled deeply, stroking his hair gently.
“I need to tell you something but I need you to promise me you won’t freak out.” I said beginning the nervous journey to tell him. His legs stirred slightly under the bedding. He hummed a positive reply. My heart was beating rather quickly now but this needed to be done. I stroked his soft hair gingerly and looked up at the ceiling aimlessly. My eyes moved down to see the black floppy hair sprawled across my bare skin.
“I think you should know that you’re going to be a dad.” I said calmly, just spitting it all out. His head lifted up off of my chest and he looked at me with a surprised expression on his face. He looked like he was in awe by my sudden news. His mouth twisted into a smile as he looked up at me.
“Really?” He asked.
“Yeah.” I replied softly. He bit his bottom lip hard and looked at my tiny tummy then back at me.
“Do you mind taking a test; I just want to see for my own eyes.” I knew he was going to do that. He makes me do this every time we think we’re expecting. I giggled and nodded as I slipped off the bed, throwing on an over sized tee shirt. He put his red boxers back on and sat at the end of the bed while I went into the bathroom and did a couple tests from different brands. I think I did like six tests from six different brands. I didn’t know I could generate enough pee to do six. I was barely able to do three earlier. I set them all on the counter and stepped out of the bathroom to wait with Brian.
“When did you do the test?” He asked as I sat down on the end of the bed with him. I pursed my lips and tilted my head slightly.
“This morning at work I did three.” I replied sullenly. “-They all came back positive.” I added.
“How long until we can check them?” He questioned curiously. I tapped my fingers on my leg and stared at the floor by the bathroom door.
“The box says three to five minutes.” I said flatly. He nodded and tapped his leg eagerly. We both waited impatiently until the timer went off. I got up to go see them. And sure enough just like this morning there sat six positive tests. I went back into the bedroom leaving all six tests on the counter. I lay down on the bed and Brian sprawled himself out beside me. His eyes were curious and eager to know.
“Are they positive?” He asked in a gentle voice. I nodded slightly with a caring smile.
“Yeah, all six of them are positive.” I said happily and watched as he looked at my slight stomach with a star struck expression before planting a gentle kiss on it. His lips stayed pressed to my stomach as he smiled widely.
“Hey in there, it’s me, your daddy.” He said softly in a dreamy voice. He then cuddled my stomach gingerly. I was now in awe that he took it so well; he took it so much better than what I thought. Maybe I will get that happily ever after, after all. Maybe this will work out just fine; we’ll get to have a family without having to worry so much. I mean Brian took this swimmingly so why can’t we carry on with this happiness? Just as long as he stays on the right path I’m happy.
