Seize The Day

I woke up to my phone buzzing violently on my side table I answered it annoyed by whoever it was. “Kaylin,” It was Matt he sounded upset and drunk. “Matt what’s wrong?” I asked sitting up in my bed.
“Kay I really need someone to talk to.” He slurred he sounded like he was about to cry. “Can I come over?”
“No Matt you’re drunk, I’ll come to you okay. Just please stay there.” I said getting out of my bed I put on my flip flops.
“Okay, thanks.” He said before hanging up.
I drove to his house quickly; I arrived in five minutes when it should have taken me ten. The front door was unlocked. I walked in turning around and locking the door. “Matt?” I yelled. I heard a loud thump from upstairs. I took the stairs two at a time and met Matt at his bedroom door. “Mattie what’s wrong?” I asked he looked like shit.
“I ran into Val.” He said sadness and hurt all over his face.
“Hey it’s okay,” I said grabbing his face and looking into his eyes, they were filled with sadness and something else. “Matt what exactly happened?” I asked. He looked down at the floor and mumbled something. “Mattie I can’t understand what you’re saying.” I said making him look at me.
He looked up at me and said. “She was with another guy.” He said sadly. I had a flash back to that night in Baltimore he had the same sad look on his face.
“Oh Mattie.” I pulled him into a hug. He hugged me tightly before pulling away. He looked down at me before cupping my face in his hands and kissing me gently. My brain was screaming for me to push him away but my body was screaming for me not to. He pulled back and looked at me again, I could finally see what that something else was, want, he kissed me again but this time more heated. His hands slid down from my face to my waist. With his touch realization hit me of what was happening. I pushed him away, “Matt we can’t.” I said my hand on his stomach holding him away from me.
He looked sad and defeated, he walked to his bed a sat down with a sigh. “Sorry Kay.” He said putting his face in his hands. I walked over to the bed and knelt down in front of him moving his hands form his face.
“Mattie it’s okay.” I stood up and sat next to him he leaned against me as I wrapped him into another hug.
“So you chose Zacky?” He mumbled his breath tickling my neck. I sighed and nodded even though he couldn’t see it he knew my answer was yes. “Good he deserves someone like you.” He said wrapping his arms around my waist.
“Mattie you should try to get some sleep.” I said rubbing his back.
“Will you stay?” He asked, he sounded so sad and my heart hurt. He looked up at me, his eyes huge and sad; he looked like a giant puppy that got kicked.
“Of course Mattie.” I said moving so he could lie down.
