Seize The Day

Four Months Earlier:
“What are you doing?” Cassy asked.
“Looking at apartments in Cali.” I responded putting the phone on the bed next to me turning on the speaker.
“And why are you doing that?” Cassy asked I could hear her shifting something in the background.
“Because in four months we’ll have graduated and I’m not sticking around are you?”
“True, “She said, “Send me some pictures of the places you’re looking at.”
Four Months Later:
“We’re done we’re out babe!” Cassy screamed happily throwing her last suitcase into the back of my Tahoe. She ran up and wrapped her arm around my neck and kissed my cheek. “Cali here we come!” She pushed me lightly and ran to my car.
I turned around to face my parents. “Are you sure about this sweetie?” My mom asked.
“Yes, you know I didn’t want to be stuck in Maryland forever, and you know I’ve always wanted to move to California.” I said hugging her.
“Kaylin, you be safe, and don’t let any guy try to take advantage of you.” My dad mumbled pulling me into a tight hug.
“I know dad I have my taser and my pepper spray.” I said watching my dad smiling, knowing damn well I could take care of myself. “I should go daddy.”
“Oh, now good luck doesn’t forget to call when you get to the hotel tonight.” My dad smiled releasing me from out hug.
“I will I love you both.” I said smiling turning and swinging myself into my truck.
“You didn’t tell them that we weren’t stopping until we got there?” Cassy asked raising an eyebrow.
“Nope.” I said smiling and starting up the Tahoe.
It took three and a half days to reach Huntington Beach but we finally made it. I smacked Cassy’s leg to wake her up. She grumbled tired from driving the entire night before so I could drive during the day. “Wake your lazy ass up we’re home.” I said smiling. She rolled over and looked at me a huge grin on her face.
“Let’s fucking go!” She yelled opening the door and rolling out of the car. “Oh my god this is great I can see the fucking ocean Kay!” She started to jog towards the beach but I grabbed her hand.
“Hold the fuck up we need to unpack then we can hit the beach.” I said laughing at her excitement. We, along with the help of our parents and a loan, had bought a two bedroom beach house right on the beach. It was almost my dream house small with wood floors, granite counter tops , and an island in the kitchen , a must have for anyone who loves to cook.
“Fine bitch.” Cassy grumbled opening up the hatch on the back of my Tahoe. She grabbed her duffle bag and suitcase carrying it inside. After we unloaded all of our personal stuff the moving truck that had new furniture pulled up, the moving guys unloaded the new furniture and beds and placed them where we told them. It took four hours and once everything was done Cass looked at me and said “Can we please go to the fucking beach now?”
I laughed “Yes we can go to the fucking beach.”
We walked along the beach for an hour before deciding to go to the pier and get something to eat. We inhaled food, real food, something we hadn’t had in three and a half days.
“Thank god I have been starving! Monsters and chips is nothing compared to the burger!” Cassy yelled taking a huge bite of her burger.
“So ladylike, it’s a miracle you’re not snatched up.” I said laughing handing her a napkin to wipe up the juice and ketchup sliding down her chin.
“Who needs a man when I have you?” She said winking and taking the napkin. “You’re sexy and can cook what more could I possibly ask for.”
I smiled, “I’m the entire package aren’t I?”
“Hell yes you are!” Cassy said wrapping her arm around my neck. “Let’s go home.” She said smiling.
