Promise You Paradise

I sat on the concrete ledge of the stairs and pulled a book out of my messenger bag. I cracked my book open and began reading. I didn't get very far though because not five minutes later Bailey, Dimples, and the four other guys come running out of the front doors and down the steps. I thew my book back in my bag and slung it over my shoulder before jumping off the ledge and running after them.

They all stopped at the parking lot and the guys laughed and high five'd. I slowly walked up behind them and stood behind the one with the snake bites, in direct view of Bailey, so she knew I had waited for her, even if she told me not to. She didn't announce my presence or anything, just stood there, and I already knew what she was thinking. Scare the shit out of them. It wouldn't take much, they didn't even know I was there.

"What are you guys doing out of detention?" I asked. It was a simple question, but the fact that no one but Bailey knew I was there made all the tough guys scream, and I do mean SCREAM. The shortest one even jumped into the tallest one's arms, and the guy with snake bites was now hiding behind the one that had the spikey hair. They were all looking at me in shock, and Bailey was laughing hysterically behind them.

"Where the hell did you come from?" Dimples asked. I looked over at my sister who was now recovering from her bout of laughter, and I could tell she could feel my discomfort. I really really suck at being social, and this guy is a meanie face. Bailey walked over to me and put her arm around my shoulder.

"Well, when a mommy and a daddy love each other veeerrrry much-" She began but was cut off by Dimples.

"Yeah, yeah, smart ass." He smirked.

"It's better than being a dumb ass." She shrugged. Dimples' friends all snickered and he shot them a glare. I think he was trying to make them shut up, but it didn't work.

"Oh, the one with the dimples is Matt by the way." Bailey told me, tilting her head in the direction of the large man. I gave her a "we are on a first name basis now" look and she shrugged it off.

"He got me out of detention, I figured we could at least exchange names." I nodded and leaned into her shoulder. Bailey is a little taller than me, for some reason. That's just the way we turned out.

"Mind introducing your friends, Dimples?" Bailey said.

"Uh, sure. The really tall one over there is Jimmy." He said pointing.

" 'Sup mother fuckers!" He said, trying to strike some kind of gangster pose. Bailey snorted and I laughed a little, quietly though, so no one would hear me.

"The short one with Jimmy is Johnny." He continues, and Johnny gave a small wave.

"The one with the snake bites is Zacky." He said. My heart fluttered a little when Matt said his name. That was weird. Zacky did that dude nod that a lot of guys do and crossed his arms over his chest.

"And this one is Brian." He said, gesturing to the guy with spikey hair. He waved and that was about it.

"This is my sister, Hailey." Bailey told them, and I did my best to give them a little wave and hid my face in my sister's shoulder.

"What did you tell the teacher anyway?" She asked.

"Oh, we told him that you were a groupie for our band and that we needed you at our gig to make us look more badass." The one dubbed Jimmy said, completely serious. Matt smirked and the rest of the guy's were laughing.

"You guys are dicks." Bailey said, I could tell she wanted to punch them. Yes, I mean 'them' as in all of them. So, I intervened.

"Can we go home now?" I asked her quietly, and she looked down at me and nodded.

"Well, thank you for busting me out, but that doesn't me I won't kick your ass again if you make my sister feel at all uncomfortable or say anything else stupid." She gave him a warning glance before grabbing my hand and pulling me towards our car. When we got to the car Bailey unlocked the doors and we both climbed in.

"Well, that was interesting." She said nonchalantly.

"Interesting? You made friends with the meanie face!" I said.

"Hey, it was either play nice and get out, or stay there until five. There was no way in hell I was leaving you out there by yourself until five. I told you to go home." She gave me a scolding look as she pulled out of our parking spot and I shrugged.

"When do I ever listen when you tell me not to wait for you? Plus, I din't want to go home alone. Mom is going to be so pissed when we get home." I said, sighing.

"Oh well." She said, turning on the CD player that currently had her favorite band playing. Joan Jett and the black Hearts. Gotta love 'em.

The ride home was a short one, honestly we could probably walk to school but we prefer driving in case we want to go somewhere after school. Usually if we have to go back home and explain everything there our parents turn into over protective lions. They never want us to have fun.
We pulled into the driveway and we grabbed out bag and made our way up the stone walk way to the front door. We walked in and I braced myself for the fight that was going to go down.

"BAILEY SHARLENE LANSIQOUT! GET YOU'RE ASS IN THIS KITCHEN NOW!"

Bailey sighed and slipped her shoes off by the door.

"You go up stairs, I'll be up soon." She told me before heading off in the direction of the kitchen.
I walked up the stairs and into my bedroom. I closed the door and laid on my bed and opened the book I was reading before Bailey broke out of detention, and waited for her to come back up stairs.

Yup, a great way to start off a new year.
