Chapter Ninety:

Doug’s POV

They took Lydia to the hospital and rushed her into surgery. They took Adam’s body away. Tony, my men and I had to go down to the station and give our witness statements. When we left the deathtrap of a house, the police were taking pictures of everything.

I wasn’t arrested. It was self-defense and no one seemed to question it. I was told that there might be a hearing, but it didn’t look likely.

Apparently, they already had Derek in custody. I’m assuming that it was Adam that was kind enough to deliver him to the police, along with proof and a written confession for his crimes. At least he didn’t something good for her.

Zacky’s POV

Dad called and told us that they found Lyds. She was alive, but not in good condition. I knew that she was in surgery, but I didn’t know what kind or the chances are that she would survive it. I told the guys and Holly.

We all got comfortable in the basement. Holly ordered everyone food, but no one was really talking. The TV was on in the background, but everyone was tense. I could feel it.

Dad asked us not to go to the hospital. He told me that it wouldn’t do us any good to sit around the waiting room while she was in surgery. Things would be hard enough as it is. Dad wasn’t even there. He was still stuck at the police station. He didn’t sound too thrilled about it, not that I blame him. I wouldn’t, either.

He said that he would call with any updates or changes. He promised that as soon as she was out of surgery, we would all go up there.

Holly was sandwiched in between Oliver and Brian. She had her arms around both of them. I think that they’re taking it the hardest. Jimmy was next to Brian and Hayden. I was next to Hayden and Matt. Matt was next to Johnny. Johnny was parked by Oliver.

I knew that Johnny was a little uncomfortable. He was around a lot, but he doesn’t really know Lydia that well. He never complained. He’s just here for us. That’s why we love him.

I jolted awake when I heard phone ring. I hope it’s not Tiffany, again. I asked her not to come over. I really like her, but I can’t keep it together for her, and I don’t think we’re on that level yet. Things have been tense enough between us with Lydia missing.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Zachary, she’s out of surgery.” My father told me. I nodded. “Why don’t you lot head over to the hospital? Tony and I will meet you there.” He suggested.

“Is she okay?”

“She’s stable, but she’s not out of the woods, yet.”

“We’re on our way.”

“Thank you. I love you, Son.”

“I love you, too, Dad.”

We stayed at the hospital and it felt like the longest week of my life. Lydia was in a coma. The doctors weren’t sure when she would wake up. They said that her body needed to heal and hopefully she would come out of the coma in time.

By some miracle, her head was okay. She didn’t have any more damage done to her brain, but she was concussed. The bullet went through her shoulder-blade and her chest. She was okay, but really banged up. I don’t remember what all they said was wrong with her. After they told me that she was okay, I tuned out the rest.

“Son, wake up.” My Dad shook me awake. I peered up at him.

“Dad, what is it?”

“She’s awake.”

Notes

I'm back! God, I fucking hate flying. Last night was hell. The past couple weeks have been crazy busy. There will be another chapter up tomorrow! I'll try and get some other chapters up this week.
