The Rescue

Chapter Eighty-Nine:

Lydia’s POV

I saw something in the corner of my eye, but I didn’t turn my head to get a better view, because I saw that it was Tony. He held a finger to his mouth, but I didn’t do anything to let him know that I saw him, because Adam would see him. Tony dropped out of view and I focused on Adam, again. I willed myself to stay here and not let my mind stray away.

“Look what you made me do, little Dove. Do you think I enjoy hurting you?” Adam asked me. I nodded, numbly. It’s getting harder to feel the pain, now. I just feel cold.

“Yes.” I whispered. He laughed, like I told him a joke. I don’t understand why it’s funny.

“Let’s get you cleaned up. I’ll be back with supplies.” He told me, before walking away and going upstairs.

I looked around and didn’t see Tony. Was I imagining him? Have I really lost that much blood? I kept looking and Tony hurried over to me. He placed a hand on my cheek and I felt the warmth he radiated.

“You’re really here?” I asked quietly, starting to sob. He nodded. “Thank God.” I breathed. I jumped when I heard Adam start to come down the stairs. “Go!” I urged him in the loudest whisper, I could afford. “He’ll kill you, if he sees you!” I told him. Tony looked reluctant, but before he was out of sight, Adam’s voice floated into my ears. Tony barely made it five feet.

“Little Dove, you brought a friend over.” Adam said, coldly.

I whimpered and my eyes grew as Adam drew a gun from the back of his pants. Tony was faster. I heard the shot, before I knew who was shot. Blood dripped down Adam’s leg. Tony hurried over to me and started to lift me up, when I saw Adam scrambling to get his gun. Tony was too preoccupied with me to notice.

“No!” I screamed, as I flung myself in front of Tony and shielded him. I didn’t feel anything, but Tony’s eyes grew wide. Tony fired at Adam and was pulling me away from my father and into the laundry room that led to the garage. My stomach felt wet and I saw blood soaking my shirt.

Doug’s POV

I’ve already phoned the police. I parked next to Tony’s car and secured my bullet-proof vest, before running out. My men followed me. I had my gun out and I started walking over the house, when I heard the sirens. I looked over and saw the police pulling up. I can’t wait for them. My daughter could die.

I heard the police telling them to stand back, but I ran inside the garage and into the house. I stopped in the laundry room and saw Tony covering Lydia’s body with his and his gun out. He raised it at me, before he realized who I was. I sank to my knees and I touched her forehead. He moved off of her, so I could see her better.

“She’s alive.” I breathed in the relief. The police ran passed me and into the rest of the house.
“LAPD! Come out with your hands up!” They announced as they stepped inside.

“Is she going to be alright?” Tony asked me, visibly shaken.

“She has to be. Call for an ambulance. He’s going to die for this.” I told him.

He nodded and pulled out his phone. I heard the men move upstairs, searching for him. Bullets whizzed past us, missing us by centimeters. I ducked down and motioned for Tony to move Lydia to the garage. He nodded and I crouched into the doorway to the living room. I peered at my surroundings. More shots fired and I saw Adam, hiding behind an island in the kitchen. I raised my gun and fired. I moved back behind the wall and keened my ears. I heard him coughing. Did I hit him?

“He’s down here!” I yelled, hoping the officers heard me. I’m assuming they did, because they came bounding downstairs.

“Do you have him in custody?” One of the officers asked.

“He’s not breathing. He’s dead.” Another one revealed. I sighed in relief. He’ll never harm anyone again.

Notes

They found her! I'm not about to kill my main character. SO rest easy.:)

Announcement:
I will be out of town/across the country May 15-May 25. My sister-in-law is renewing her vows. I also have a ton of friends/family that I haven't seen in like a half a year to cram into that short amount of time. With that being said, I'm going to try and update at least once or twice while I'm away, but it's a BIG possibility that I just won't have the time. I'm going to try to at least write so I have something to post when I get back into town. May 26th updates will be regular again.

Feedback?

Much love,
Katie

I can't believe I read this in three days! I loved the characters, not all of them but majority :)
And throughout this whole story, I realized Brian was calling Lydia 'Ace'. I really didn't get why....but anyways! This was amazing :)
