Almost Easy

Chapter Seventy-Seven:

It’s been about a week since I was taken. Last night, I made the mistake of telling Adam that he would never amount to even a fraction of the father that Doug is. I snapped and let his jibes get the better of me. Adam lost his temper and I’m feeling it tenfold this morning.

I walked slowly to the bathroom. I gasped when I saw my battered reflection. One of my eyes is swollen completely shut and the other isn’t much better. My jaw is bruised and from the way that my chest feels, I’d bet that some of my ribs are broken. He did a number on my shoulder and I’m guessing that it’s dislocated. My legs are fine, but everything else is sore and aching.

I sank to the floor and cried. I can’t do anything else. I don’t have any other means of comfort at my disposal. I don’t know how long I sat there sobbing. I don’t know how long Derek was watching me for. When I noticed him, he looked like he had been standing there for a while. I flinched when he reached down and brushed my hair out of my face.

“Adam wants to talk to you.” He told me, quietly. He’s smiling. I bet he loves seeing me like this. I went to push myself off of the ground, when he reached down and pulled me to my feet. I pulled my arm out of his grip and winced. “I just wanted to help you up.” He apologized.

“Yeah, right.”

“You look so beautiful when you’re broken.” He cooed as he leaned down to smell my hair.

“Don’t fucking touch me.” I growled at him. I heard my father laugh in the background. I saw lounging on the couch. His face changed when he saw me. The smile slid off of his face. He knows that he took things too far. He looked upset, but not with me.

“I’m sorry that I let things get so out of hand, little Dove.” He apologized.

“If you were sorry, you wouldn’t have done it.” I corrected him. He didn’t say anything.

“I need to go out and pick up a few things. I’ll get some ice packs and some of that cinnamon ice cream that you like so much. How does that sound, little Dove?” He asked me. I shrugged, but my defiance was short-lived. I know that if I don’t answer him, he’ll hurt me again.

“That sounds nice.” I admitted. He smiled and kissed my forehead.

“I’ll grab some things for you to tie your hair up with, as well. We can have whatever you’d like for dinner. Any requests?” He questioned. I looked up at him and for a minute, it actually seemed like he cared. He wrapped his arms around me and I remembered what I was supposed to be answering.

“A Po’ Boy sounds delicious.” I answered, quietly. He chuckled.

“I see some things haven’t changed.” He mused. “Alright, I won’t be gone long.” He assured me. I nodded. “Derek, if you so much as touch her, I will castrate you.” He leered. Derek nodded. Adam took one last look at us, before leaving. As soon as the garage door was closed and we heard the rumble of the car engine leave, Derek pinned me to the wall. I gulped.

“Daddy can’t save you now, Pumpkin.” He sang.

“He’ll kill you.” I tried.

“It’ll be worth it.”

I know it's short, but the next chapter will be quite a bit longer. I do have the rest of the story figured out. It's just a matter of getting it all typed out. Bear with me! (Please and thank you.) The next chapter will be up either tomorrow for Friday!
