Until The End

Make It Right

Jade sat on their bed, wiping her eyes. She felt bad for going off on Daphne, but she felt that Daphne needed to here what she had to say. She sighed as she heard a knock at the door.

“Come in,” she called.

“I have a child so don’t throw anything,” Daphne called as she opened the door.

Jade smiled lightly when she saw her holding Misty in front of her.

“I have no weapons,” she replied.

Daphne set Misty down and shut the door behind her.

“I have a peace offering,” she muttered as she held up a tub of ice cream and spoons.

“Well bring it over before I start yelling again,” Jade smiled.

Daphne smiled and sat next to her on the bed. She opened the tub of ice cream and the three of them started devouring it.

“I’m sorry I yelled at you,” Jade muttered.

“I deserved it,” Daphne replied.

“No, you didn’t. I know you’re going through a hard time right now.”

“You were right though. I have been a zombie. I’ve shut everyone out and I have been feeling sorry for myself. Instead of being upset or angry about Brian and Zoey, I’ve acted like it never happened. I try to pretend that Brian doesn’t mean anything to me, but I miss him,” Daphne admitted.

“Its okay to miss him, honey. What you two had was real. And it sucks that things turned out the way they did,” Jade sympathized.

“I’m just so angry that Zoey’s pregnant. I know she didn’t intentionally get herself pregnant to screw up my life, but I’m still angry,” Daphne seethed.

Jade pulled Misty into her lap and covered her ears.

“Let it out Daph,” she urged.

“He couldn’t even tell me about the baby himself! He could’ve called me at any point during the day, but instead my daughter told me! I was so fucking humiliated. I let myself get in deep with him and it all fell apart as fast as it happened. I should have never slept with him. I knew what we were doing was wrong but I still let it happen. I should’ve left him alone. I should’ve never gotten close with him again. I should’ve let Zoey have him, but instead I fell in love with him all over again! Now Zoey is pregnant and I have to sit here and watch as they have a perfect life. I have to watch Brian act like we never had anything and I can’t do anything about it!” Daphne vented.

“Oh honey,” Jade sighed as she uncovered Misty’s ears.

Daphne didn’t even realize she was crying until Jade handed her a box of tissues.

“Everything is going to be alright Daph. You will eventually get over him,” she muttered.

“I don’t know how to though. I’ve never been in a situation like this.”

“Daph, look in a mirror. You’re hot. What you need right now is to find some guy to just have a nice time with. You’ll get over Brian faster than you think.”

“I thought that avoiding him would help. I haven’t seen him in three weeks though and I feel worse,” Daphne admitted.

“You haven’t had any closure with him. You’ll feel better when you talk about all of this with him. Avoiding him won’t help you move on.”

“I’m just afraid that I’ll break down if I see him.”

“You have a right to break down. Brian was going to leave Zoey for you, and then everything changed in a split second. That’s going to take some time to get over Daph,” Jade explained.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that I was thinking about moving,” Daphne threw in.

“I wish you would’ve at least given me a heads up,” Jade muttered.

“Alright, you got me to fess up, now it’s your turn. Why are you so against me moving? You know I would never let Misty go without seeing her aunt and uncle. And I would still need you to get me out of trouble,” Daphne smiled.

“What would you do without me?” Jade laughed.

“What’s really going on Jade?”

“I’m scared,” she admitted after a few seconds.

“Of what?”

“I’m scared of being a mother. I didn’t have any younger brothers or sisters so I never saw my mom mother any other children. And the girls have no idea about what to do with a baby. Having you here would make me feel better. You’re a great mother and having you living here would make me feel more secure. I can ask you for help when I don’t know what the hell I’m doing and I can watch what you do with Misty. I’m just going to need a lot of help when this baby comes and right now you’re my only hope,” Jade admitted.

“Jade, you definitely have other people that can help you. If I’m not around, you can ask your parents or mine and Matt’s. You know I’m only a phone call away anyway. And I’ll definitely be over here all the time to spoil my niece or nephew,” Daphne smiled.

“I love having you here Daph. It’s not going to be the same without you. You’re like my sister and I love Misty to death. Don’t get me wrong, I love your brother but its nice having other people living here with us. Matt loves having you here too. We really don’t want you to go,” Jade frowned.

“Jade, I have to. I need to move on from Brian. This change will help me do that. You guys need room for the baby anyway.”

“Will you at least wait a while?”

“I’ll think about it. I have to call the realtor in the morning.”

“You promise to think about waiting?” Jade asked.

“I promise,” Daphne smiled as she hugged her.

They pulled apart when they heard something fall over from downstairs.

“We better go make sure the living room is still intact,” Jade laughed.

“Is the Christmas tree here?” Misty smiled.

“Yes ma’am. Lets go decorate it!” Daphne smiled as she scooped Misty up and followed Jade downstairs.

They saw Matt and Zack placing the tree in the corner Jade picked out.

“Hi honey,” Jade greeted as she approached Matt.

“Everything okay?” he asked as he pecked her lips.

“It is now,” Jade smiled as she winked at Daphne.

“Hey Zack,” Daphne smiled as she kissed his cheek.

“Hey baby doll,” he smiled.

“What fell over?” she asked.

“Zack dropped the tree,” Matt laughed.

“Cause you weren’t holding your side!”

“Oh both of you shut up and lets decorate!” Jade smiled.

“Where’s the tree ornaments?” Daphne asked.

“In the basement,” Jade answered.

“Hey I only found one box of ornaments downstairs,” they heard a voice call from the basement stairs.

Daphne turned as Brian emerged from the basement with the box. She felt her breath catch when he looked up and noticed her.

“Brian!” Misty yelled.

She wiggled out of Daphne’s arms and ran over to Brian. He was already picking her up before Daphne could protest.

“Hey princess,” he smiled as he kissed her cheek.

“I miss you,” she muttered as she hugged him.

“I miss you too baby,” he muttered.

He made eye contact with Daphne as Misty hugged him.

“Babe, why don’t you and Zack help me find the decorations?” Jade suggested.

“But we just got done fighting to get the damn tree up,” Zack huffed.

“Downstairs. Now,” she hissed, glaring at him.

“Yes ma’am,” he muttered as he made his way to the basement.

“Pussy,” Matt muttered under his breath.

“You too!” Jade demanded.

“Yes dear,” he said quickly, following Zack.

“Misty, why don’t you go with them?” Brian suggested.

“But I want to stay up here with you!” Misty pouted.

“I’ll be here when you come back up,” he smiled.

“Okay!” she smiled as she wiggled from his arms.

She grabbed Jade’s hand and walked downstairs with her. Brian turned to Daphne to find her looking at everything, but him.

“You look great,” he started.

“Brian, don’t,” she muttered as she headed for the kitchen.

“Daph, wait,” he pleaded as he grabbed her hand.

She pulled her hand away from his as she turned to him.

“How’s Zoey?” she asked.

“She’s good. The baby’s good too,” he muttered.

Daphne felt a tug at her heartstrings at the mention of the baby.

“How are you and Misty doing?” he asked.

“We’re fine.”

“I really miss her.”

“I can tell,” she muttered.

“I miss you too Daph,” he admitted.

She bit her lip and looked to the floor.

“You shouldn’t have said that,” she muttered.

“Well it’s the truth.”

“You shouldn’t be saying it though. You’re with Zoey.”

“Yeah, I know I am. You’re the one who wanted me to stay with her. Remember?” he spat.

“Of course I do. You don’t seem to remember that you’re with her though!” she snapped.

“Daph I just want to make things right with us. If you want to drop what we have, then fine. I just at least want to be a part of your life and Misty’s life,” he pleaded.

“There is no way to make things right with us. We destroyed any kind of normal, platonic relationship when we slept together. We both wanted to be together, but we’re obviously not meant to be together considering Zoey is pregnant. I just want to move on with my life Bri,” she muttered.

“You mean a life without me in it?” he asked.

“Yes,” she muttered.

She regretted her answer as soon as she said it. The look on Brian’s face almost caused her to breakdown in front of him.

“I hope you end up being happy with Zoey and your baby,” she muttered as she walked into the kitchen and to the backyard.

She sat on the patio and let out the breath she’d been holding. She wiped her eyes and pulled out her cell phone. She dialed the number and let out a shaky breath.

“Sorry Jade,” she muttered as she waited for the realtor to answer.
