Nothing else matters
Chapter 21
Romy’s POV
I stood in front of Jimmy’s house. Open the door Jimmy... I rang again…
“JIMMY COME ON… Get your lazy ass to the door…!” I yelled.
Then the door opened and a worried looking Jimmy opened.
“Hi Romy, come on in.”
“You look stressed, what is wrong?”
We walked towards the living room, I could see that there sat a blonde girl on his couch and she was wringing her hands. I saw her face at the party… she was… Brian’s girlfriend. Why did she look so nervous?! Oh shit, she was here with Jimmy…
“You two are not?! Jimmy… he is your best friend… I need to tell him, Jimmy.. Not even for you I could…”
“WHAT?! What are you talking about…”, he looked confused at me.
I motioned between the blonde girl and him, “You two?! HELLO?!”
Then Jimmy started to laugh hysterically, “You thought we…? Me and Annie…”
Jimmy walked over to ‘Annie’ and sank down next to her but wouldn’t quit laughing, he let his head drop into her lap and she looked as confused as me but she smiled a little while stroking the head of the laughing Jimmy.
“Ahhh… ok… sorry… You looked so worried, I assumed you wanted to tell me something…” I tried again.
Finally Jimmy looked up and had tears in his eyes. He tapped the spot on his other side and I sat down next to him.
“Ah Roro… I love you exactly for that… damn I haven’t laughed so hard… like… forever…” Jimmy replied still smiling.
“Always at your service…” I grinned. “So what is this about?”
“Don’t you know me? I am Ana Evans”, Ana spoke for the first time now.
I looked at Ana questioning, know her, from where… but when I looked closely I recognized her.
She was a beautiful girl with long blonde hair and green eyes, but I still couldn’t point from where I have known her face.
“I… have seen you before… but to be honest… I don’t know where to put you…”
“High School, ring any bell?”
I looked more closely… I didn’t want to think about the high school, again the time with me being only popular because of my older brother.
“Nope. Sorry…”
“Jimmy that doesn’t make sense… I want to go home now.” Ana replied and looked really sad now.
“Wait… Romy, Annie told me that you were in this famous group and well you and the others tormented her during her high school time… she is afraid that you will… start that shit again…”
I looked at both of them speechless… I was thrown back into my past. Now I remembered a young blonde girl.
She was falling on the stairs her books and writing scattered all over the place, all the people laughing at her… I went over to her wanted to help, she looked so scared not trying to get too much attention. I knew that feeling; maybe I could make a new friend…
I went towards her picked up one of her books, wanted to hand it to her she smiled and grabbed for it, when behind me I could hear my so called ‘friends’ starting to laugh that I wanted to help the outcast so I did the wrong thing and tossed her book to the ground and laughed myself.
“I am sorry. Ana, I know what you mean now. I remember the incident at the stairs… I wanted to help you really… I thought that maybe we could be friends, but I was so afraid to lose the only people that were talking to me at that time, that I did the wrong thing. You know high school wasn’t a bed of roses for me… You might not believe me. But only being liked at school because of your older brother… or only to have friends because they wanted tickets to his show… it was like to better not have friends at all… If I hurt you with my actions, I am sorry and I hope that maybe someday you can forgive me for what I and the other did…”
Ana’s POV
Now I was speechless, I always thought I wanted to be like her or one of these popular girls. I didn’t know that she was having difficulties on her own. But still she had her brother and his amazing friends to always be by her side and when I on the other hand was always alone.
“Thank you, Romy. I appreciate you saying that. And you are right, maybe I just need a little more time to get to know you better and forget about the past…”
“Yes that would be a good start.” Romy smiled at me. But I could see sadness in her eyes.
“I gotta go now, Jimmy. Val wanted to talk to me about your upcoming tour, she needed a favor from me. I don’t know what that could be so. Have a nice evening you two.
And Ana, maybe we can start from a new. Wait a second.”
Romy went to the front door and turned around came back into the room and came towards me.
“Hey Ana, I am Romy. It is really nice to meet you for the first time, ever.” She grinned at me and hugged me.
I was totally surprised, and I could get a feeling why Jimmy and she were so close friends.
“Thanks. Nice to meet you, too Romy.”
Then she turned around and waved us goodbye.
