Life As We Know It
Hospital.
Vanessa's POV*
Zacky rushed me to the hospital. I was in so much pain. They seemed like contractions but I was still too early to be having the baby right now. At least I think it's still too early. Either way, I was in pain and I was scared. When we got to the hospital Zacky was lucky enough to find a parking spot next to the emergency room. I was thankful too, becaus eI didn't know how much I could really walk right now. As Zacky jumped out of the car to rush and help me out, I seen him trip. As much as I wanted to laugh a little, the pain was becoming unbearable. If this is what child birth feels like, you can guarantee I will not be having any babies again for a while. Zacky helped me out of the car and grabbed my overnight bag.
We made our way in through the hospital doors and I found a wheelchair so I sat in it. Hopefully, noone was using it. Zacky wheeled me over to the nurse's desk so we could request to be seen immediately. I felt so crippled, but it was nice not having to walk. This was the only perk of being pregnant. Well that and having Zacky constantly around me.
"My girlfriend is having very bad pains." Zacky said all out of breath.
"Okay, what's your name sweetie?" The nurse turned and asked me.
"Vanessa Andrews." I replied.
"And how far along are you?" She asked.
"I just entered my ninth month about a week ago." I answered.
"Okay, just wait right here and someone will escort you to the back to have you examined." She said with a smile.
It took about 5 minutes for someone to come and bring us into the back. I was more than glad to hurry up and see the doctor. What if I go into labor? I started hyperventilating. Zacky put his hand on my shoulder trying to keep me calm. Maybe I was overreacting a bit but I was scared. This is my first baby and the pain was so bad. The person who came to get us, directed us into a room and told us our doctor would be in shortly.
I could hear a hirl in a room next me crying very loudly. From the sound of it, I would guess she was going into labor. Good thing I didn't sound like that but it still freaked me out. Zacky came and sat by my side and held my hand. He also gave me kisses on my cheek. This helped me calm down. His kisses always calmed me down. So far the contractions seemed about 9 minutes apart. They didn't last long either but still. This being my first baby and all, I had to be a worried mother. Finally the doctor came in with a clipboard.
"So Ms. Andrews, having pains?" He asked me.
"Yeah, they happen about 9 minutes apart from each other. I just barely entered my ninth month." I said.
"Well 9 minutes isn't really time for labor. Your body is just getting ready for it. Can you please lie down. We'll do a quick ultrasound and see what's going on in there." He smiled at me. Does he not realize I'm in enough pain to do some damage to someone? I don't have time for the doctor to be smiling at me. I laid down as the doctor asked and pulled my shirt up enough for the doctor to perform the ultrasound.
"Well everything looks fine. You just need to start walking a lot more. Have you been practicing your breathing exercises?." He asked.
"Yeah I have." I responded.
" Okay, just take some Tylenol. I don't see it causing any risk factors at this point. Also stay calm and relax. That goes for you too daddy to be. She needs to stay in a calm environment. I also suggest baths, it relieves the tension in your stomach. Your baby should be ready for delivery sometime next week. When you start having contractions less than 5 minutes apart come in okay? Well, that about sums it up. I shall see you next week possibly?" He smiled and picked up his clipboard.
"Yes, Thanks doc." I said as Zacky helped me sit up.
That's a relief. I was so worried my baby girl would be hurt. But she was perfectly fine. Now I can go home and relax. But next week? She's already about to be here. I couldn't wait but at the same time I knew the pain was going to be horrible. She was worth it though. I turned to look at Zack.. He was worth it too. It was funny how he reacts but I know he's there for me and that is all I wanted.
Zacky and I walked out to the car. Even though I was going slow, he still stood by me step by step. He helped me into the car and then we went home. Since the doctor had suggested baths, I decided to ask Zacky to set me up one when we got home. When we pulled into the garage so I made my move to ask.
"Baby, will you make me a bubble bath?" I laughed.
"Anything for you babe." He said with a smile. "I'm glad you both are okay. My two favorite girls in the world."
I gave him a kiss and then he came to help me out of the car. I'm lucky I have him. I looked down at my belly. I was lucky I have her too.
