Month 4

Hannah
I’d woken up this morning to an empty bed, but I barely had time to register that fact when Baby Sanders decided to make momma sick again. I jumped out of bed and darted into the bathroom to bring up my midnight snack.

Groaning and wiping my mouth with the back of my hand I moved myself over to the sink to wash my face and brush my teeth, I could hear Matt down in the kitchen, laughing and cheering ‘thank God’. I frowned and left the bathroom.

My breasts were killing me, so I slipped on one of my bras under my tank top.

“You’re kidding me,” I muttered to myself, looking down and realising that I was ready to burst out of the bra already. I pressed my hand to my still flat stomach and sighed “Looks like mommy is going to have to do some maternity shopping today,”

I slipped on my oversized hoodie, leaving it unzipped, and walked downstairs.
As I walked through the house, I couldn’t help up take in my surroundings and think to myself ‘how did I get this lucky?’ because, I have a gorgeous house, an amazing husband and the house is filled with pictures to remind me of the day we tied ourselves together and in about six months-time, there would be more pictures on the walls to remind us of the day we stopped being a married couple, and became a family.

As I neared the kitchen I could hear Matt laughing and talking, and as I stood under the archway into the kitchen I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He was sat at the table in nothing but a pair of sweatpants and a bed head. He had some papers scattered across the table in front of him and his phone pressed against his ear. I cleared my throat and he glanced to the side and smiled wider than he already was.

“Okay, thanks again, speak to you later, bye,” He hung up the phone and turned to me, holding out his arms for me. I waked over, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me onto his lap
“What are you doing up, momma?” He asked.

“Your child decided to wake me up with sickness,” I told him, pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth.

“Suddenly it isn’t ‘our’ child, but my child?” He chuckled.

“Only when it’s a pain in the ass,” I laughed “Who was that?” I asked, nodding towards his phone.

“Larry,” He smiled.

“And?”

“We got the dates moved, I’ll be home for two weeks before and four weeks after the baby gets here,”

“You’re really going to be here for it coming in to the world?” I asked, he nodded.

“We should stop calling the baby ‘it’, you know, we already have a son or a daughter in there,” He pressed his hand against my stomach “I want to say…” He trailed off and looked into my eyes “She,”

“A girl?” I asked, he nodded and I hummed “I’d like a girl,”

“Shall we find out?”

“No,” I said without thinking, surprising myself with my own answer “I like the element of surprise,”

“Well we have to get to the hospital anyway,” He said and I frowned “We have an appointment with the OB/GYN and Brent?” It came out as more of a question than a statement.

“Shit,” I chuckled, pressing my hand to my forehead “It all totally slipped my mind,” I admitted “I guess I’d better go and get ready,”

“Dress comfortably,” He said, nuzzling his face into my neck “I promised my mom we’d have lunch with her and my dad,”

“Okay,” I grunted as I pushed myself off of his lap.

“Where are you going?” He growled, lifting me by the hips and sitting me on the table and standing between my legs.

“I was going to get dressed,” I giggled as he kissed my neck “But it looks like you have other plans,”

“We may be married now, and getting ready to have a baby, but we’re still spontaneous,”

His lips attached to mine and he pushed me back onto the table, his hands on either side of my head while mines found their way into his hair and my legs hooked around his hips.

I could tell that Hannah was nervous about our appointment today, after Dr Miller would do a scan, Brent was coming in to talk with the three of us about Hannah’s hips and the options for the birthing plan.

“Baby,” I whispered to Hannah, who was on the table in the paper thin hospital gown, one hand clamped around mine and the other playing with the hem of the gown while she watched her toes dancing around in her socks “It’s going to be fine, she’s in there, okay?”

She gave me the ‘how did you know?’ look when she realised that I knew about her silent worrying. She had been worrying about it since the honeymoon and I knew it, she mumbled about it in her sleep sometimes and I caught her talking to her stomach on our wedding night, begging the baby to actually be in there. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t worried too, but my worry had been that it wouldn’t happen at all, that she wouldn’t be able to get pregnant, but I believed with everything that I had, that once our baby was in there, it was in there.

“I know,” She whispered, trying not to let me see the tears in her eyes by only glancing at me briefly “I know,”

“Hey there kids!” Dr Miller greeted us enthusiastically as he entered the room “So, I’ve met with Hannah once before, so I’m guessing you’re the husband,” He reached his hand across Hannah and shook my hand.

“Nice to meet you,” I smiled “Hannah’s already told me that she trusts you with this whole thing,” I gestured around the room.

“Well, I have been doing this for the better part of thirty years,” He chuckled “And, given the conditions we’re under here, I’d like to do everything with you kids personally, from ultrasounds and check-ups and eventually the delivery, It will always be me,” I nodded along when I saw Hannah nodding “And of course, Dr Haner will be with us sometimes, too.”

“Brent?” I asked, looking down at Hannah.

“Just to make sure my pelvis is holding up under the weight of the baby,” She told me gently “We were hoping to get this scan on DVD so that we can show our friends,” She told Dr Miller
“Everyone only saw a picture of the first scan at the wedding,”

“How did that go?” He asked, setting up the machine and squirting the goo stuff onto her abdomen.

“Couldn’t have gone better,” She told him and he just smiled in return.

“Okay, so in a second we’re going to see and hear your baby,” He took a device in each hand, took the bigger one and moved it around a little before smiling to himself and then placing the other device right beside it and the room filled with the beautiful sound of what sounded like a train “Here we go,” He smiled, turning the monitor around so that we could see it “There’s your
baby,”

I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, not even to look at my wife who was already crying. I felt a tear slide down my cheek but I didn’t wipe it away. There was a person in there, and it didn’t just look like a blob anymore.

“How far would you say I am?” Hannah asked “I’ve been trying to work it out, and I’m not showing yet but that-that looks pretty developed already,”

“I’d say you entered your fourth month this morning,” Miller told us “That’s the start of your second trimester and by the looks of it…” He trailed off “You should start to show pretty soon, obviously, I mean, you can already see a little bit of a belly here,”

“Dr Miller,” Hannah gasped dramatically “Are you telling me that I’m fat?”

“I’m telling you that you’re pregnant, dear.” He smiled at her “And now, I’m going to do some more tests, your blood was taken when you got here, yes?” We nodded “And the AFP screening, to check for anything wrong with the baby that we can’t see on screen?” We nodded again “Well, since it is a miracle that you conceived so soon, at all, I want to do an amniocentesis,”

The whole thing caused Hannah a lot of pain, she tried to move as little as possible but she moaned and groaned in pain while she cried into my shoulder. I just held her hand, pressed my lips to her head and soothed her as much as I could before the whole thing was over.

“You did great,” I told her “You’re so amazing,”
~~~~
The whole way to my parent’s house, I barely watched the road because I couldn’t stop looking over at Hannah. The smile on her face was contagious, she was glowing and her hair was blowing in the light breeze, she looked amazing.
“So, what did the doctor say?” My mom asked as we sat down to eat. Since it was such a nice day, my parents insisted on having a barbeque and sitting out back. Amy was here, and her boyfriend was with her.
“Mom, they just got here,” Amy laughed “At least let them eat first,”
“Thanks baby sis,” I teased.
“Not a baby, Matthew,” She told me as she tucked into her burger.
“Come on,” Mom pleaded “Your father and I are dying to know what’s going on in there,” Mom gushed, reaching across the table to press her hand against Hannah’s stomach. She was so excited for her first grandchild.
“Hey!” Amy exclaimed with her mouth full of food “I’m going to be an aunt, I wanna know, too.”
“Everything looks great,” Hannah laughed “Baby is healthy looking and sounding, we listened to the heartbeat today,” Mom gasped, Amy’s face lit up and my dad just laughed.
“What’s funny?” I asked him.
“Son, you think your mother is excited now, you should have seen her when she was pregnant with you, I mean, you sort of remember her being pregnant with Amy, but, when we were expecting you, she was always excited, hyper, never tired… and she rarely spoke about anything other than the son she was going to have,”
“Did you guys find out the sex of Matt and Amy?” Hannah asked, taking a bite of her burger.
“With Amy, yes,” Mom told her “Because I couldn’t tell myself, but with Matthew I just knew he was going to be a boy,” Hannah was smiling at my mom as she ate “How have you been feeling?”
“Tired,” She admitted “All I can do is sleep and eat, but then my food doesn’t stay down for very long, and it’s only going to get worse like it does with every woman in my family,”
“And what did Brent say?” Dad asked “About your hips,”
“There’s a little leeway, my hips should move enough as it is, but the more pregnant I get, as well as Lamaze classes, I’m going to have to go to physical therapy again to make sure my pelvis can move enough for birth,” My parents and Amy were nodding along, but the kid with her, Ryan I think dad said his name was, looked horrified and completely confused.
“Hannah was in an accident,” Amy told him “Her pelvis was shattered and she got an operation, this baby is a miracle because we didn’t know if they would ever be able to have a baby,” Hannah just continued to smile at Amy and Ryan.
“But now that you’re pregnant, everything should be smooth sailing from here on out, right?” The kid asked and we both nodded.
“The hard part is over,” I told him, taking Hannah’s hand in mine.
Everything was perfect.
We left Matt’s parent’s house, giving them a copy of the ultrasound and headed home.
“I’m going to call Erin, ask if they want to come over for dinner later,” I told Matt as I pulled my cell phone out of my bag.
“Alright,” Matt smiled at me, turning down the music.
I pressed my phone to my ear, it only rang a couple of times before Erin answered it.
“Hey there, sexy momma!” She chirped into the phone.
“Hey,” I laughed “What are you doing for dinner tonight?”
“We haven’t decided yet,” She hummed.
“Well you two are having dinner with us tonight, we have some celebrating to do,”
“On?”
“The tour dates being moved and the fact that I’m four months pregnant as of today and I saw just how big our baby already is,” he just squealed down the phone for a minute.
“We’ll be there, when will you be home?” She asked.
“In about ten minutes,”
~~~~
Matt and I cooked dinner, the four of us ate together and then we showed Erin and Brian the ultrasound, they both cried, Erin shamelessly whereas Brian tried to hide the fact he was crying, but once we all wrapped him up in a cuddle, he let it go.

“So, what do you guys want do now?” Brian asked as we all sprawled out on the sofas in the living room.

“Well we can’t go anywhere,” I groaned, looking outside at the rain “It’s probably going to storm tonight after all that heat from today,”
Everyone just groaned in agreement.

“Wanna play a board game?” Matt asked.

“No!” I gunted “We should just watch some movies,”

“Nothing too action packed, we don’t need Erin getting any ideas,” Brian laughed, but Matt and Erin fell uncomfortably silent and Brian quickly stopped laughing “Shit,”

“What?” I asked “Why would an action movie give Erin ideas?”

“You didn’t tell her?” He asked Matt.

“I was hoping Erin would do it herself, I didn’t count on you fucking up,” Matt shot at him.

“Can someone tell me what’s going on?” I asked, nervously biting my lip “What happened?”

“I almost killed Gena last night,” My eyes widened “I went over there and she overheard Matt and I when we were there,” I chuckled, but remembered what we were talking about here “She started mouthing off about the guys having demons of their own, that the two of them and our psycho ex’s and my sister and your stalker were to have been the least of our worries, there’s more trouble to come apparently,”

“And?”

“And I couldn’t take any more of it, she wouldn’t shut up, so I strangled her through the bars,”

I laughed again.

“Did she tell you what ‘demons’ the guys have?” I asked “Or are you two going to tell us yourselves?” I looked at Matt and Brian.

“Nobody is saying anything,” Erin groaned “Trust me, I’ve been trying to get it out of Brian all day, but he’s making me feel like I don’t need to know,”

“I thought this had stopped,” I crossed my arms over my chest “I thought that we all told each other everything now, especially now that there’s a baby on the way, secrets aren’t exactly a good idea anymore,” I grabbed my hoodie off the back of the sofa and shrugged myself into it

“But I can find out for myself,” I told them.

“Where are you going?” Matt asked.

“I’m going to go see our girls,” I smiled at him.

“Are you okay?” He asked, working out that something was off with my forced smile and sickly sweet tone of voice “You shouldn’t drive all the way out there in this weather,”

“I’ll be fine,”
~~~~
I was soaked through by the time I got out of the house and into my car. My sun dress had turned see through and my hair was stuck to the sides of my face, but I wasn’t caring, I needed to go and speak to Val at least, and if she wouldn’t tell me anything, then I would see Gena, too.
I drove all the way out there without any music, just listening to the rain battering off the roof of the car and the wipers on the window wiping as fast as they could.
I got through security without any problems, given that I was one of the people who had them locked up in here and I was Matt’s wife, why wouldn’t I get through?
“Val,” I sang her name as I reached her cell, tapping on the bars with my keys “How you holding up with this storm?”
“Should you be driving through here in this weather, given your condition?” She asked and I just laughed.
“I wouldn’t call pregnancy a condition, it’s a gift, the gift of life… not that you would know what that felt like, carrying someone around inside of you,”
I couldn’t help it. I was feeling particularly harsh today.
“You look fat,” She growled at me.
“Pregnant,” I corrected “And Matt loves it,” I whispered, before yelling; “So does Erin!”
“Why are you here?” Val asked as I lowered myself to the ground and dropping my hands through the bars of her cell “Surely you have better things to do at home,”
“I found out about what Erin did to Gena,” I told her “Wanted to find out how she could have been pushed that far,”
“Gena was warning her about open relationships and marriage not working out, and it won’t, not now that you’re pregnant, and she warned her… about the guys and there demons, really Hannah, I thought you were smarter than this, surely you should have worked it out by now,”
“Worked what out?”
“How do you think they were so experienced in… getting rid of people?” She asked “They’ve done it before, and they’ve been doing it for a very long time,”
Notes
So, everything is great with the baby, despite Hannah's brief worry that the baby wasn't actually there at all. Can you blame her?
She's also nervous about Erin almost killing Gena, right? It's a little unnerving for her to be bringing a baby into this world.
More to come from E!<3
